I would think that would be better, Only 1krpm difference between 084 and 880. Not sure how long the .325 chain will last with that much torque. Very interested to hear what happens. Full comp ripping chain I presume?

Sweet set up Bill. How is the 84/76 running? Do you have issues with different rpm?
  3. Get an auxiliary oiler, sounds like the nose over heated.

Love to see that rip. Sounds ridiculously fast. How long have you been running that set up? What's the bar?

Really? What powerheads? What make of bar?

Where do you get a 9 pin sprocket from? Sounds fun. [emoji106]

    Great saw! [emoji106]
  8. In the last photo, Directly underneath the tower by the river is a short railway tunnel built by Brunel. We used to go raving there in the early 90s. I believe the rails and walls were painted UV back then. [emoji106]
  9. Personally I don't climb and I couldn't tell you the definition of an arborist without a dictionary. But I've worked in forests, woodlands and gardens for ten years. My own business in uk for five. (Without any malice intended)... Should I post my opinions on here? How much experience does one need to post? Look at YouTube how to vids.... How many, it's my first time guys.... When I read threads, some I think, ha newbie, others I'm like errr pass, Come back in 5 years to that. (Fungi Id) Personally I only post to threads I feel I can contribute to. But I'm know I make mistakes too.
  10. It burns really well, big flames, then it's gone. Low calorific value, great as kindling though or mixed up with hardwoods.
  11. Farmers in Brittany often grow a hectare for veg boxes, bit of a cash crop back in the day.
  12. Don't know about demand, but I've heard they use poplar planks on the backs of lorries/artics as its a yielding surface.
  13. A mate called me in to quote on a huge hedge, Approx 200 metres long across a dozen properties with small trees, bushes, prams, shopping trolleys and about 3 skips worth of debris and rubbish. He put in a "cheap price" because he needed the work £1500. Found out later the "winning" bid was £700. Would have cost that for the skips alone. Went past a few months later, it was all still there. Except the bushes which had been lightly trimmed. [emoji15][emoji15][emoji15][emoji23]
  14. Too small and slippy, no grip on thick nasty bark.
  15. Thanks bill, that's more what I'm after. [emoji106]
  16. Thanks guys, just spoke with the techy dept, different covers for the 261. Mine is a 2017, they only make one size of dogs for the 261. The cover side dog no. Is 0000 660 0800 [emoji106]
  17. Just checked, Not the right ones. I'm looking for bigger spikes, both sets. The numbers are correct but for the crankside only. The 261 has a slightly different mount now on the cover side I believe. I'll ask stihl if they even make them? [emoji106]
  18. Thanks guys, going to order today. [emoji106]
  19. Spruce pirate has a point. If your saw don't start one day, how far do you have to go to the dealer? What's your local dealer like? Sounds like you'll be busy in the woods, what about chains, bars, sprockets etc? Aside from that I'd recommend upping the budget to a stihl 461/2 As a great all round saw, Will cope with ease. 3/8 chain won't blunt as fast as .325 Crosscutting will be faster and you won't have to cut larger wood from 2 sides. But if there's a really cool dealer for husky/Makita 10 minutes away I'd probably go with them.
  20. Actually no. It just wouldn't run for long. Twice the power, half the run time, like an electric car etc It's with the motor that weight can't be trimmed yet. Might have to make my own.
