  1. If your logs are 8' long and not perfectly straight, there will be air gaps. When I was running a firewood business, the chestnut was 80% wood in a cord (3m3), the oak was bent as hell and about 70% of the stack was wood. [emoji106]
  2. Comes up with video unavailable?
  3. Hardwoods, seasoned and split and delivered (in Surrey) probably about £120-140 a m3. [emoji106]
  4. You have to do a few weeks of chokers before you'd have a clue what to do in the cab. I'd rather be felling. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  5. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  6. I've got stacks of 10'+ oak 3' wide. For sale. Pm me. [emoji106]
  7. Never worked with one. But I'd love to have one. [emoji106]
  8. How much do you process in a day? What's your day rate? [emoji106]
  9. There will be air gaps in your stack. Usually from cord to cut, split n stacked you get about 70-80% of the cubic meterage. I.e. 5m3 cord = 4m3 split logs. Approximately. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  10. Spot on Mick. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  11. Get it re fitted. [emoji51]
  12. I took my Alaskan mills to France a couple of years back. Told a guy I know, I've brought a sawmill with me. He laughed, told me there was a dozen commercial sawmills within 25km. Showed him the Alaskan. He said it wouldn't work. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji51] Yes they really know forestry. But they are sooooo French. [emoji12][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  13. I'm no expert. In Brittany I saw thousands of hedgerow oaks with longhorn exit holes. Fairly low down on trunk, About 8-12mm diameter. You could put your little finger in. Cut up hundreds of infected trees. Like wooden Swiss cheese with pupae the size of your middle finger. It could be European or Asian longhorn or something else entirely. When I saw the photos it reminded me of France. What else could do that to a tree?
  14. Those aren't bore holes, Those are exit holes.
  15. Which region of France is the woods in?
  16. The site is huge, It's on a race course/park/college grounds. It's ridiculously busy. Can't fence off the whole place[emoji51](we tried) I presume the guy was walking his dog and looking at the log stacks. He's a cabinet maker, said he understands the value of tools to a tradesman. Steve, I see your point.[emoji51] I'm under no illusions. It's just nice when good shit happens occasionally. [emoji106]
  17. It looks perfect. In my eyes, I wouldn't touch it. Nature is thriving. Wood land with masses of windblown and dead trees is great for biodiversity. Inaccessible woodland means dog walkers and ramblers won't disturb it. A proper sanctuary. Be gentle with your plans. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  18. Turns out we all like a bad pun [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] Woodcutter can you make it to Leeds/Manchester? I'll have the odd well paid day/week looming... [emoji23][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  19. Get a pre 2007/8 ms440 if you can they are slightly different/better. [emoji106]
  20. Boys don't cry...
  21. I'm tempted myself. That's quite special. Pm me if you want to sell one. [emoji106]
  22. It's a good reminder that there's still such thing as decent folk. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  23. Really beautiful boards [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  24. Might be an Oshkosh. They will be replacing the hummer in the us military. They make mega trucks too. [emoji106]
  25. This stick came easy. But the other oak behind was heavily back weighted and leaning a bit backwards Didn't have time to vid. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
