  1. That was on the southbound journey. [emoji106]
  2. This is the first tree I've turned down to mill. It's just too incredible a tree. There is a dead burr elm next to it I'll get instead. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  3. Just got back from bonny Scotland. A full load on the tipper is 4 PLANKS!!!!!! Anyone want a Game of Thrones table top? [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  4. That's one hell of an expensive table. [emoji12][emoji106]
  5. Sounds interesting. Like to hear more about the success rate. [emoji106]
  6. Heart breaking news. [emoji17]
  7. I've claimed on insurance for a bar sliding out of a box. Took about 5 days. (Myhermes) No problems. [emoji106]
  8. Interesting project. Wonder who paid for it? [emoji848]
  9. Spiritually activated. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Pre hugged? [emoji12][emoji106]
  10. It's for small interesting logs, The transit payload will be about 1 ton. [emoji106]
  11. I've got a fabricator/welder coming to have a look. It will need a solid base plate, not sure where. I've got a tipper and the ideal place is up front by the bulkhead. so I can pick up from one side or move it across to the other. Pretty sure it'll need support legs.
  12. Yes that's asbestos. Swerve the job. Or paint it in pva/vinyl paint with a spray gun on a long stick. The best way I was told by an elderly doctor... Get someone over 75 to remove it, as the effects won't kick in for 15-25 years. [emoji848] In France you can bury asbestos roofing on your own land. You have to have it marked on a map at the mairie. Hate that stuff. [emoji51]
  13. I've been looking at the rock machinery mini crane. Thinking about mounting one on the transit tipper so I can pick up bigger logs for milling. Anyone used/got one or something similar? Would I need a support leg? Any thoughts appreciated Thanks [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  14. Yep. We had that discussion. It's going under a roof, either on it's side or standing, depending on space. [emoji106]
  15. Milled this sycamore in Manchester today. Found the obligatory nails and metal[emoji51] A good set of slabs for projects. [emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  16. I have hundreds of photos of slabs. Not sure on quality though. Got an iPhone SE. [emoji106]
  17. £30! [emoji848] Bargain! Count me in Steve. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  18. Big J is correct about bandsaws. [emoji106] And chainsaw mills[emoji848][emoji12] I've got a mate with a panther, he loves and rates it highly. [emoji106]
  19. You've got a 660/661/880? Get a cheap Alaskan mill, A straight ladder and a day off. Do a few logs with that. Remember bandsaws are limited in size of cut. Often only 60-90cm. And cost thousands. You can get a panther mill and big bar off Rob.D Chainsawbars UK for a few hundred quid. Then when you've filled your garage and shed and any spare space with milled timber... Then you get a bandsaw. [emoji12][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  20. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  21. As Squaredy and se7enthdevil said. [emoji106]
  22. It can be good, spalted or burr are particularly nice. It's not a durable timber, so it will start to rot. However cut at 4" thick it should last a while. [emoji106]
