Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery!
  2. We got one for £50 from abex bearings.
  3. Course it is! The best conditioning for climbing is ......... wait for it ......... climbing. Beasting lads as you put it is pointless and yesteryear, do you think they want to learn and have a chat after a beasting or go home thinking your a d!ck? If you have to beast everybody, rush around and work like he-man to get the job done your probably underpricing it, not giving it enough time or both. Anybody can be a busy idiot, it takes a smart operator to work efficiently with some smarts to get the job done safely, on time with a happy set of lads.
  4. He's bang on! We are tree gangs not an army!! Beasting! Get over yourself!
  5. I get that hence my later posts with Marc but the way he initially put it "dragging brash pulling stakes and digging mulch circles" is not learning how to be a groundy it's boring and being treated like a brew bitch. We all want to learn and I agree learning in phases is the way forward but wanting to work and learn is different to being used and abused. Lads will go elsewhere to learn and be part of a good crew after all they want to join a tree gang not the army!
  6. They do, that's how it works it is 20 odd quid per month for a barrier pass and permit to park there when you want for however long you want. If you don't pay per month for your permit and pull a ticket on the way in and tailgate someone out is that fair on everyone else who does pay? No permit or ticket = fine. They all know this before signing their contract of employment....
  7. Dragging brash, pulling stakes and digging mulch circles sounds very different to your last post. I know what you mean but you also have to keep things interesting so newbies want to learn i.e. as you say rope management and rigging etc. Even tasks such as creating risk assessment, logging up or felling a stick. Being disciplined and learning all aspects is very different to being used and becoming bored.
  8. I only offered a different viewpoint on how the parking and permits etc work. Her choice to quit. Do you really think she'd be fined or allowed to be fined and the fine stand for saving someone's life and being at work too long? Think about it if permits where timed there would be no over time and without overtime for nurses and dr.s etc hospitals would collapse do you think they'd pay more to park longer or go on strike with unions to get parking charges put back in their box. It's a shame she has quit but it's still her choice.
  9. Permits don't have a time allowance, you could take your permit badge which operates the barriers and let 10 cars out if you wish, seriously under those circumstances she would have had the fine quashed by escalating it through upper management. The security guys can be d!cks but it's not hard to go above them and get them quashed, it happens all the time. There are 2 sides to every story and your only reading 1 of them. Worst case of nurse is in a union they would legally sort it for her.
  10. Obviously didn't read the post ...... you have a permit you don't take a ticket, permit is displayed which is usually a sticker in windscreen. You would really have to be a repeat offender taking the p to have those fines stick. If you weren't displaying but had a permit you would have the fine quashed under those circumstances. Suppose they had to make the story good to make it news.
  11. The way nhs parking works is as follows, private firm runs security and car parks (usually ocs) it charges staff around £25 a month (comes out of wage not dd) for a permit to park on site or multi sites if said staff works at multiple sites. No permit or ticket and your parked long enough you receive a fine. Any major repairs to car parks or barriers etc ocs or company in place pays for the work to be done they also use their own staff not nhs staff to act as security and car park attendant. End of every financial year nhs receives a large percentage from ocs or said company from car park takings to reinvest back into said hospital however they see fit whilst ocs or said company keeps the rest. Nurses generally start as a band 5 unless in training once training completed band 5 which starts at 22k ish and rises with yearly increments to 28k ish plus 1% annual increase on top. Specialist nurses or nurses with more responsibilities can be band 6, 7 or even 8. Top of a band 8 is 48k ish. Can nurses afford to park? I'll leave that up to you guys to decide. Lastly all nhs staff have to pay to park even band 2 cleaners who start on 14k ish so it is not like it's 1 rule for 1 and another for everybody else.
  12. Don't get this approach myself, brew bitch and brash dragging for a year hardly sets the bar high for an enthusiastic youngster wanting to learn the trade. Each to their own mind.
  13. That's because have you seen the size of him!! Struggle to find an anchor in a silver birch! Don you should be in GOT, bet you didn't use a saw to fell that bet you just pushed it over!!
  14. This👍, efficiency and brains beat speed and braun everyday of the week.
  15. We still need your rank, name, number, dob, where you live and the last 3 security numbers on your debit card! 😂
  16. Amazing 😂
  17. I knew you'd be called Andy!😂 Could just tell!😂
  18. I have a cd380 which I think is the same saw just a couple of years younger, it's brilliant! Plenty of old fashioned grunt and out works a lot of my newer saws, it is quite heavy though.
  19. You and mark are on centre court next 😂😂😂
  20. Pretend the bar is not in the tree so to speak and cut down towards it, finish your dog tooth. That would be my option 1. Step cut above it would be my option 2. If you decide to go option 2 stand in as safe a position as possible in case it barbers but looking at the width of the tree with a powerful saw on full revs I think you'll be fine. Let us know how you get on.
  21. 2nd pic your gob looks both a tad small and side on rather than at the front.
  22. I'm minimal kit too, just take up what you need. Everything else is in a bag and worst case can be sent up. I usually climb to the top put my anchor in then down I come fill saw up, warm it up, have a bite of a sarny with a small brew then crack on. Each to their own mind.
  23. Do you think a nerve was touched?😂
  24. If you can't buy outright I'd say loan as you will more than likely have an unsecured debt for an asset you now own. Also if you have taken that loan you have crunched the numbers and should be able to afford it👍
