  1. So it's ok to keep our armed forces as a deterrent but not trident? Confused. Shall we have an armed forces without weapons tanks aircraft and boats? Surely we need our armed forces to be capable to defend any situation including nuclear you know just in case not to folly around with but as a deterrent to defend. Maybe just maybe nuclear hasn't been used in anger by anyone as we and NATO have access to nuclear deterrents such as trident?! Maybe by definition having said deterrents work especially when the stakes are high.
  2. Count me in Steve!
  3. Hope Steve re-opens it as it's about what's happening everyday in the real world. Shame!
  4. Disappointed in David for closing the thread rather than banning the people who needed it.
  5. Why wouldn't you disband the armed forces?
  6. deterrent dɪˈtɛr(ə)nt/ noun 1. a thing that discourages or is intended to discourage someone from doing something. "cameras are a major deterrent to crime" synonyms:disincentive, discouragement, dissuasion, damper, brake, curb, check, restraint; More Sure worked in the Cold War! Although we have the subs and missiles they are also at the use of NATO. Any nuclear missiles been fired in anger at us, hmm it must be deterring by definition. Would you disband our armed forces?
  7. Would you prefer we disband our armed forces and trident? I get what you are saying about the budget but we still have the capabilities to defend our country. Anyhow my opinion on not being happy at Corbyns defence on QT seemingly has you confused with our defence budget? Strange deflection. I'll ask again though would you prefer we disband our armed forces and trident?
  8. I was bothered by his lack of defence and stated I'm ex army. Read the details it's the small ones that count.
  9. The unions will want re-nationalisation of services to up there members and have more sway on striking the masses if when Tories next get in. Also if they are nationalised does that mean taxpayers pick up any losses or shortfalls and is that more £10p/h minimum wages we'd have to prop up? Under the tories low earners have had tax bracket raised a few times which acts as a pay rise for working whilst keeping cost of living down in turn benefits down in turn less tax paying for benefits. Increase in min wage will increase cost of living so benefits will have to be increased to stay in line so more tax needed to pay for benefit families. Hardly rocket science.
  10. She was probably on the top of her band and feeling hard done too because of it. Going back to the £10p/h minimum wage it would start all NHS staff on band 4 wages doing away with 2 bands, existing band 4's will demand a pay rise for being skilled workers they surely can't earn the same as unskilled workers then 5's will want a pay rise as will 6's 7's etc etc now this sounds good but how do we pay for it taking into account the NHS is the 5th biggest employer in the world! Same will apply to our forces firemen and police. If minimum wage was raised to £10 p/h cost of living will go up that is a definite so will benefits have to be increased if so who pays for that? Sooo confused! Corbin stated corporation tax and other taxes will pay for it whilst stating NI and VAT will not be raised so what are these other taxes? Hmm stumped pardon the pun. We already know land value tax is coming if he gets in which will hurt but what are the others?
  11. Good luck with it all.
  12. Yes also ex army and his lack of defence bothered me too. When questioned on the £10 per hour wages by the owner of a small accountant firms he said he/government would help businesses that couldn't afford to pay the increase in wages, do we need more subsidies/benefits? He wouldn't answer the question on will businesses move abroad and also if min wage is £10 per hour will benefits increase to be in line with low earners? When pressed on how he'll pay for his lovely manifesto he said with corporation tax rises and OTHER taxes but no rise in NI or VAT, what are these other taxes? Labour are the kings of stealth taxing. I'm a floating voter I put my X where I feel best rewards me and my family, it ain't a hard choice this year. Labour need a name change, gone are the days where they favour the working man.
  13. How you getting on there now Ty? Did your relationship with your business partner improve? I have just got back from a week in Sablet well just outside it and the work ethics are soooo laid back it's frightening and they charge some big bucks!
  14. Thoughts on tonight's question time leaders special anyone?
  15. Your wasted grinding stumps!!
  16. Will treemagineers do an article condoning the one handed use of this future saw? 😂
  17. Do you know how much a hip replacement costs?
  18. Bricks and mortar will always increase in value over the long term anything to help inflation rise to keep the debt repayments low ..... If you think you as a home owner can value your own asset to be taxed on your wrong, a third party will value it and to get more tax it will only go up in value I'm afraid maybe just maybe house prices will go up quicker than now to raise more tax. If your on the ladder already your lucky in the sense prices are relative if your house goes up in value so does the one you want to buy next so it sort of cancels itself out.
  19. One of the scenarios labour are looking at for situations where LVT is less than council tax is to tax said properties on that years house value. Labour are using LVT to pay for their outlandish policies to think we will be better off for the change is being naive. It was labour who raised fuel duty to record highs to again hit the masses of normal people.
  20. You really are a moron the working man already contributes to public services now unless mark is a secret millionaire why should he donate again? He may have a family to look after like most of us and other financial commitments.
  21. The land value tax will pay for a lot of labours policies but it will cream us normal folk, the rich will sell and move on along with their businesses to avoid LVT on their homes and businesses and they'll move abroad to avoid 50% tax which will affect jobs as the work will go with their businesses. Unemployment will go up. People on benefits will have their benefits increased to cover LVT and low to middle earners on no benefits will get creamed to cover increase in benefits and loss of revenue from businesses moving. LVT will not affect online businesses but our high streets, restaurants etc will also get hammered. Any of you guys wanting to buy/rent yards etc I would possibly wait to see how it all unfolds. I just can't see how labour are looking after the working man anymore?
  22. I'd say the negligence would be with the homeowner as surely after topping the tree it should be re-done or looked at periodically similar to pollarding.
  23. I'm amazed nobody has picked up on the fact their council tax and business rates could potentially double or treble under the proposed land value tax which could replace council tax/business rates. I would have thought it would have been jumped on on here given it will affect us all as soon as it's introduced ...............
  24. Anyone heard about the proposed council tax changes in one of the manifestos? Is it a good or bad change?
