  1. Impractical jokers is pretty good on Comedy Central. Agree though the yanks are streets ahead. I quite like jimmy carr, he cuts it close to the bone and isn’t scared of a kickback.
  2. @matelot?
  3. A lot of this post implies he has made choices and is in control of what to adhere too and what to discount? I thought we had solved this on the free will thread?! Surely we cant blame the charities and the people managing them as they aren’t really culpable, so to speak.
  4. On a lighter not I drove past a couple of homeless chaps close to home and thought no we can’t have that! Not around here! I went back and told them to jump in, dropped them off in bolton.
  5. Anything with lots of money involved will have corruption somewhere along the way HOWEVER oxfam has still and will still continue to do a lot of good. It’s built numerous schools, villages, homes and supplied food and water to people who genuinely need it. They are one company not a government, it would take a collective effort from governments and companies alike to truly abolish famine and health problems we no longer have BUT that would mean giving in a world full of takers. I try to help people or donate or raise money for charities I feel are worth while whenever I can, not to make a difference to the world or to make me feel good (which to be fair it does) but to make a difference to the person I’m helping no matter how small.
  6. Anyone have one, or tried one? If so what are your thoughts and how do they compare to other mechanical devices?
  7. If you have kids or intend to have kids would/do you raise them to the best of your abilities and share your wisdom whilst placing them in the best school/s for education you can to ofer them a good chance at life OR do you think f@ck it I can’t be arsed what difference will my kids make to the world? @matelot please take your time to answer that honestly.
  8. Think I read about it once in a magazine titled, farmers farming. If you ever need an accurate weather forecast try watching country file, not sure what the rest of the material is about but the weathers good.
  9. Also shouldn’t farmers be ........ well farming?
  10. Apt you mention end price, seems to be when it suits, your last post you begrudged someone earning (your calculation) £300 per hour.
  11. You seem a decent bloke and I wish you the best of luck HOWEVER I cant bite my tongue so bear with me, I believe you get well paid for two things when you break things down to simpleton standard, hours of graft and/or responsibility. Lets say your local arb accepted your £50 and free wood and he took on the simple job of felling your 30ft tree, lets presume their was some rot it went wrong and landed on your derelict building, would he be in court like your plumber? Would a potential court appearance be worth £50 and a bit of free wood? Personally I price for job completion, not time spent. Time spent may seem relevant to most but it doesn’t factor responsibilities involved. Also a lot of tree work features a lot of both, time spent grafting and responsibilities which people IMO dont appreciate. Not having a pop Martin by any stretch but think of the shoe on the other foot would you sell yourself short? FWIW if I was in your area I’d have quoted £150 to fell the tree and leave it where it lay or £200 to fell and cut into manageable sizes for you to do as you please. Like I say all the best. Wes
  12. Or he’s lit the fuse and sat back laughing into his brew, 14 pages and counting.
  13. I’m not and I’m not having a pop. Crack on on the cheap and let’s hope nothing goes wrong.
  14. I hope you never have a mishap @Vespasian but insurance is a safety net and every tradesman should have it and the tickets to make it valid. Its a bit like if you got hit off an uninsured driver you’d be pi55ed! It makes you look like a cowboy if you are not covered.
  15. Anybody else noticed the Martin has only made 1 post and left us too it what a guy! @Vespasian if anything happened to you or a.n.other whilst you where carrying out Tree Work I’d highly doubt you would be insured without the relevant tickets in place.
  16. If you take your climber and groundie price your at 230 + cost of moving it plus your aggro like tax, fuel and insurance with maybe a small profit margin and where do you think the price will be? Probably not a million miles from the quoted price. Seems a lot granted and could be done cheaper if you didn’t give the customer notice of when you’ll do it straight away and you paired it with a couple of small jobs to do in the same day. Equally suppose you could turn up solo and fell the lot and leave it where it lands for £150-200 and be done with it. Sorry just rambling.
  17. “Ripped Off By Tree Surgeons” Check this out ...... https://arbtalk.co.uk/forums/topic/109129-ripped-off-by-tree-surgeons/
  18. Surely this should be in the “making the news” thread titled ....... Local Farmer Feels Hard Done To
  19. Thoughts?
  20. Ps I went all black on the colour, just thought I’d add that.
  21. https://www.gear4.com/gear4-oxford-for-iphone-7-gold-colored-26200-c.html I have had this on the iPhone 7 for the last 16 months. Dropped it loads, it’s passed the daughter test on a daily basis and isn’t bulky, it actually looks smart. The phone is water resistant so don’t need the cover to be. Oh this was tested also when the little one threw it in the bath, the music was still playing sooo when I decide to upgrade the phone I’ll upgrade the cover to a new one of this cover.
  22. Looks like you only have a few years left of being ginger bullied though Mick
  23. I do mate, I mean I rock a ginger beard when really I don’t need too!
