  1. Pm me some details / price if you like. Cheers
  2. Quercus garryana. White oak.
  3. Another for loquat
  4. That annoys me too. If I’m going to a client to cut one tree my price will be higher for that one tree than if I was doing multiple trees at the same location. Simple economics of the logistics isn’t it. And breaking it down tree by tree in quotes gets really boring ...........
  5. 550xp mk2 from your list. I haven’t used any of the new top handle saws in anger. Still using my ms200 and spud tweaked echo 2511 which is epic. Tbh I’d say you won’t go wrong with any of the brands but if you are just buying one I’d stick with a 2stroke machine at the moment. Battery saws are getting better but not good enough to be your only option at this time.
  6. No it was sitting at about 45 degrees. Lifted root plate from the recent storms.
  7. It is indeed. Can’t remember what the reach is but I cut those bits into 18ft lengths and it stretched down to the butt from the same spot and dragged it up the slope on a sling before picking it up. Lifts a tidy weight with ease. I would imagine the big piece must of weighed 2.5 -3 ton.
  8. It’s Friday and chucking it down so I went for easy climb today.
  9. Luffs at Headley £30 per load.
  10. A good book for the crapper. I don’t think my missus will find it quite so funny if I leave a copy there though [emoji23]
  11. Noncery - good word. I shall add that to my vocabulary. Sounds like it could of come from the Viz profanisaurus for those that remember Viz...
  12. The stand is in Surrey. My initial thoughts were Biomass. I agree with the firewood situation. Great firewood but the end users won’t buy it in this area. They are drilled into think only hardwood is decent.
  13. Entirely ridiculous and a total waste of money and time but there we go that is what it is. Point is what’s the best profit for selling the timber on ?
  14. Needs to be gone in bulk / artic loads. Would the relatively small diameter not make it unprofitable for large scale milling ?
  15. So I have been allocated 3 acres of Larch plantation to fell for a charity based trust. I carry out a reasonable amount of Arb work for them already but they would additionally like me to fell one of their plantations. The felling is part of a landscape report and plan that is required to achieve certain planning requirements for a new building elsewhere on the site. It’s rather ridiculous and for a variety of reasons that are not flexible but the larch is to be felled , then replanted with ... Larch. Access is very good and the felling easy. I will attach a couple of pictures but my main point is where is the best value on the product to be had ..? The trees are around 60ft tall and not particularly big at DBH so I’d imagine not much use for milling. I only do small scale firewood processing I’d imagine Larch although it’s good firewood to have a low ish value. ( no one in this region sells softwood logs) I’m thinking Biomass maybe it’s best value. Post felling the area will be forestry mulched before being replanted. Some of you guys specialise in small Scale forestry so I thought you may have some advice to share. The spec is a planning condition and therefore not flexible so just advice on the end material please. Thanks in advance
  16. That comment made me chuckle. Reminded me of the 90s when my cousin became a New Age traveller and went to live on the Isle of Wight in an old ambulance or something like that. I can clearly remember how pissed off my uncle was at the time [emoji23]
  17. My work is all Arb. What is the machine capable of lifting ? The one that was in there looked pretty tidy to be fair. I asked if it was for sale but the guy I spoke to didn’t know. How much did you pay for yours. ? Cheers
  18. I was in there 2 weeks ago dropping off a machine to Danequip. Saw a trailer like yours in their yard so popped in to get details. The guy I spoke to didn’t have a clue about the trailer and the guys in the office were far too busy with eating microwave meals to be able to help. I left my contact details and have never heard a thing back on my enquiry. Totally useless in terms of service and sales. How much did you pay. ? Cheers.
  19. Is that a Riko trailer ? I’m looking for something just like that.
  20. Cheers. Plenty of good pruning points in the tree so it was reasonably easy to achieve a good shape. It was a new customer with potential further work so nice to make a good impression on them.
  21. Well not on a Sunday but Friday mornings oak reduction looked reasonable. Firewood orders in the afternoon. Had several nice oaks to climb on Thursday and this one Friday morning so it was a nice end to the week.
  22. I’ve always worked around / next to them. Got a couple that I have to hop into the enclosure to finish some hedge trimming on each year. Chap from SSE said they were no bother. I don’t suppose I’d be around to moan at him if I proved him wrong ......
  23. Which areas in Sussex. ?
  24. Where did you post the pictures. I can’t see them on this thread ? Thanks
  25. MacBook. Worth every penny. Had my current one 4 years. Would never go back to a pc again.
