  1. Very nice location, I would never get owt done, due to looking at the scenery. It's a wonder that them sheets didn't fold themselves in half whilst you were driving. There’s a couple of 2x6” under the sheets. And some straps holding them down. Thankfully was only going 1 mile up the back road so crawled along at 20mph. 😁 Never seen another vehicle.
  2. Cheers Gobby, I’d beg to differ though. [emoji849]
  3. I think he likes the idea of wanting a sawmill, not sure if he'll actually ever pull the trigger.
  4. Thanks. A work in progress. A lean-too and deck area going in as well. Deck area will be 5m x 4.7m. Managed to pick up some roof sheeting 7m long but a wee bit bashed for £30.
  5. Cheers. Jaws are a work in progress, they’ve not been screwed in yet. But the thickness they take up is no more than the wood that was screwed to them already. Not sure how they’ll hold up but the wood was gonna end up in the fire anyway.
  6. It’s nice knowing the first log I milled will be in almost daily use.
  7. Does not take long in filling it up though!
  8. Ah yeh, it’s 600mm wide. That’s as wide as my Mill can go. But I think it’s wide enough. It’s the same width as the plans I loosely followed.
  9. I’ll be doing the next Bench in 5” thick. This is 2.75” Beech Slab. It’s plenty thick for my needs.
  10. Funnily enough the missus said the same thing. If I manage to look after it I might move it to the Cabin I’m away to start on. Well, when I say start on I mean start milling the 6” Beams.
  11. Just the usual for me. Danish oil. 🤣 2.5 litres of the stuff and it was still sucking it in. 4 coats though.
  12. Needed a new workbench for the new workshop, really just something til I build a Roubo but as that could still be some time away I thought I’d build a strong but simple bench out of the first tree I milled. So the top and legs are Beech and the rails and slats are Oak.
  13. I like the idea of a Wind Turbine. We certainly get more wind than sun where I am. [emoji16] What issues have you had with it and how much was the instal?
  14. Seen snow on the hills behind my house yesterday, we’re not even in the highlands and it’s not even November yet. I hope your forecast is correct, not had a real winter in years.
  15. You need to contact them directly to get that info. Its not really advertised. Id make the buyer take full responsibility for any damage during transit. Pics loaded on the truck and the rest is on them. I accepted this for the Chip Extractor.
  16. Kids dont tend to go on Caravan holidays though do they, if they do they tend to visit static caravans. Its generally Coffin Dodgers and half of them should not have a license full stop.
  17. I shipped a double Chip Extractor that was 1750mm wide without an issue recently with M&H Carriers. Not only that but the seller had no pallet and refuced to secure to the pallet. So the Driver had to bring a pallet and some shrink wrap and secure the Extractor to a regular europallet, obviously it was hanging over the sides. From Englandshire to Scotland all for £95 plus vat. M&H Carriers Ltd - Sending & Delivering Throughout Scotland MHCARRIERS.CO.UK M&H Carriers has the largest independent logistics network delivering everything from small parcels, oversized parcels...
  18. I guess there is a number of ways in which you could extrapolate the data. 1, as you suggest. 2, That introducing the BE License and the required training/test did not in fact make any discernable difference to road safety over the last 20 years and therefore was a needless hinderance. If what you suggest was true then Id expect to see a steady decrease in the number of Trailer accidents over the last 20 years as the now older entitlement drivers either died off or retired and stopped using Trailers. From my own experience of using a Trailer over and under 750kg since I past my test in '98 I have yet to see a Trailer accident on the roads or been stopped and inspected. Ive only ever seen one traffic stop by the police pulling Trailers over in all that time. Maybe. Everyone I know who past their test after '98 and tows over 750kg regularly has yet to have an accident or be pulled over. Of course this is purely empirical but in my mind it reflects the bigger picture and perhaps one of the reasons the government changed the rules regarding BE. That being there is no noticeable decline in accidents since BE was introduced and chasing under 40's for towing over 750kg is virtually un-policeable.
  19. That was a very long winded way to say no, there was no discernable decrease in Trailer accidents since the BE was introduced in '97/'98.
  20. Out of interest was there a massive decrease in trailer accidents after ‘97?
  21. You’re quoting a guy that normally signs his name with an X.
  22. Im not an Arb guy either. Justmewhinging’s theory’s falling apart 🤣
  23. It’s not the same Kris that’s on here is it? 🤣
