  1. Well thats very timely for me as the Estate is selling their Avant so Im loaderless now. I was out looking at a wee Bobcat Skidsteer a 400 series but they wanted £6k for it. I thought it was well over priced but also too wee/narrow to handle long logs, ie 6m. Im now looking for a Telihandler in the £10k range as without a loader Im kinda gubbed. I dont have a huge turnover but Im getting over £4000 of orders to fulfil each time Im home now. With minimal outlays it seems worthwhile investing in a loader.
  2. I was talking about a whole hole. Not a bit of one. Well this is clearly Steves first time so I can see why you needed to clarify.
  3. Hole hole hole.
  4. I like it too, unfortunately its not mine.
  5. Had a couple of easy half days Milling this Spruce. £20 a cubic foot so ended up as a £1500.
  6. No, in the West we taxed that outta existence. Mainly by ignoring what the majority of the world is doing regarding pollution.
  7. Well, its amazing to see what a minute percentage of the worlds polluters has on the world stage. Who'd have thought that the countries that contribute over 70% of the worlds pollution can continue doing what they're doing and we'll fix everything in the West through tax.
  8. Whatever happened to Acid Rain?
  9. I find they dry very well. As well as just stacked, but they are in a windy location. Im going down the road of IBC’s now mainly due to ease of stacking and easier to move around. I guess I’ll see if the drying time speeds up. Would be magic if it did.
  10. Vented bags are brilliant for drying logs. Builders bags on the other hand are not.
  11. You can buy a good running 038 for under £250. How much will it cost to get this one running again? £500?
  12. Les needs to stick to making Fence Posts.
  13. £250?
  14. I think that changes from generation to generation. Not sure if being an Emo is still considered hip these days.
  15. You’re burning logs with over 50% mc?[emoji15]
  16. Loads of info on here. Try searching and reading a few threads.
  17. Does that PM include how to dodge the tax that would help pay for the virtue signalling you constantly and hypocritically expect others to fund?
  18. A guy I know has the stump grinder attachment for his Avant. Takes some getting used to but he takes it out more than his Rayco now.
  19. I must be slow then . 🤣 Gnarled twisty hardwood did not help. Some 3m straight lengths would have been awesome but the only straight stuff I had was softwood. He’s loads of hardwood thinnings for me to put through the Hakki.
  20. 3 IBC's an hour? Thats some going! When using the Estates Palax 35 Im lucky if I get 14m3 of straight softwood a day, but thats with me loading the logs onto the log deck and taking the full bags away and stacking them. Hardwood and I was down to 10 1m3 bags. Its only a wee Honda GX390 and as it has dual rams they're both quite under powered really, compared to the WP36 anyway which runs on the same engine. But seem to handle what they're designed for, which is skinny sticks below 10" quite happily. Although I seriously doubt that I could split 10" hardwood at the full 600mm length, we'll see though. Ive stalled it a couple of times yeh. If the logs fall wrong the engine just seems to labour. Getting the difference in the controls between the Palax and the Hakki into my muscle memory seems to be speeding things up and saving jams before they happen.
  21. I did 2.5 IBC’s in an hour and a half, that’s about 5 dumpy bags worth I believe. I’ll pick up the pace a little more though as I get more used to it’s quirks. It spat a couple of chains so that did not help.
  22. Having fun with my wee processor. On the skinny stuff if fair flies through the logs.
  23. Good effort! How much are you charging a length/bf?
  24. Denmark is in the EU, Norway is subject to EU laws and yet it happens there as well.
