How to identify finish type on oak furniture
trigger_andy replied to CathyEck's topic in Woodcraft Forum
If it’s “shop” new I doubt it’s been finished in Danish oil. Most likely sprayed in something cheap but durable. Polyurethane is where my money is. Squarely is on the right track, how is the (most likely) laminated bits of oak held together? The elements will most likely decimate your bench. As Squarly mentioned pics are worth a thousand words. There could be solutions. -
Lots and lots of posts on Facebay with seasoned Hardwood at £80-90 a Builders bag round my way. I know a few who sell kiln dried and they’re now over £100 a builders bag (or equivalent)
-
I’ve not tried it yet. 😬 Melted the Piston and it was a job finding an OEM Piston and Pot for it. Finally got one and it’s in getting repaired now along with the Straight Shot. Hopefully get it back soon as I have a couple of jobs lined up for it.

The hydraulics are so simple they don’t really fail. Replacement parts are readily available. You do have to re-charge the oil every 3-5 years though. I’d hate to have to go back to a manual clamp. The hydraulics far more efficient.

😳 He even threw in a couple of half ton logs as they where a bit bent.

Some nice Larch Sawlogs delivered today. Need about 3t for an order that will cover the cost of the 11t I had delivered. £90 a ton stung! Not used to paying that prices but certainly nice logs. I’ll use the rest for 6” beams for the log cabin and the rest for fencing.

I’m sure the Oregon sharpeners are just re-branded Italian Tecomec’s. Mine certainly is.
-
The one the op posted has a hydraulic clamp

I have that model. It’s a great machine for home use. Not sure I’d be wanting to use it for a business venture. I’d have thought anyone offering chain sharpening services would have an automatic machine.

Now that’s a very clever idea! Hmmmm. 😁

Conversion to multi fuel
trigger_andy replied to Cath11's topic in Log burning stoves and fireplaces
All good points. But Cathy is looking for logs that will be ready for the Stove this year. Spruce will be ready in 2 months in the right conditions. -

See if you can find some Spruce. You can almost see the water evaporating off the logs. -
Nobody is sending your role model Rishi, nor his wife fines either Just the way you like it Dodge dodge dodge
-
He makes a good point ( for a change) I simply dont care about Tories meeting for beers in a garden, I do care very much about people using legal loop holes to dodge tax Hiding its one thing, but it sticks in your craw when the Putin lover here openly boasts about it yet condems them for doing the very same
-
Because almost half the population hate the Tories and will happily use any excuse to see them punished, genuine reasons or not
-
You seem to enjoy the rules for them when you manage to benefit from the same loopholes. You have no voice of authority here. You’re as dirty as your poster-boy Rishi.

Firewood wanted arb waste accepted! Cheshire/Staffs border
trigger_andy replied to BigRon's topic in Firewood forum
A half decent petrol splitter will just smoosh its way through that. Will pay for itself in a weeks use. Plus these knotty bits burn well. Some knotty Beech last night. -
Weird, snapped a few Stihl chains on a 084 yet to snap a rotatech chain on the 5 I’ve used on 18” and 13” bars. Hopefully more have negotiable experiences with them so I keep getting them for 1/3rd of the price.

Was in a packed kids soft play centre today. The only people wearing masks where the staff. First time I’ve seen that level of disobedience. Then one couple came in masked up to the hilt. Very much the type I imagine 42 falls into.

Horrid corrupt wankers. But the lesser of two (or 3 or four) evils. My opinion of course, but Labours track record in power is abysmal. No whataboutery just cold hard facts. Lib Dems? Folded like wet paper last time they where in power and their Leader at the time has shown where his morals are when he joined Facebook. Have these parties changed? I’d say no if Kneel Starner is anything to go by. They are all literally as bad as each other. So where does that leave us? I guess voting for the horrid corrupt wankers who offer the empty promises that align with our POV best.
-
They are certainly corrupt The nonsense rules where strong armed on them by the SAGE wankers drunk on power They knew it was nonsense and acted accordingly, I did the same Mark Js buddy certainly needs to go for his tax dodging shenanigan's, I dont think those who use their common sense need to We all have our opinions on this matter and we can exercise this via our vote when the time comes, I know Ill not be considering a garden party with a few beers as a reason not to vote for a party, I will hold the parties that screamed blue murder for heavier lock-downs

Just highlights how utterly pointless the rules where
