  1. Ive tried this too as my 088 is a heavy old lump. In fact I have always done this as the Power Head really lifts up the other end of the mill.
  2. When milling with my 48" Bar I find I get a slight sag in the middle no matter what I do. So when the Mill is in contact with all 4 corners and everything is square and true I note the cross bar with the push handle has a slight gap of a few millimeters. Im not sure what causes this? I also thought the weight if the bar, or torque of the motor? i also thought inaccurately and uneven sharpening but Ive been using the Granberg precision grinder to good effect and its not helped.
  3. If you're looking for a quick sale Id offer £4000. Some pics would be great.
  4. Thank you for the replies guys. I'll pass that on to them and post pics if I get the Trees. Andy
  5. Hey all, I have a change to buy some Yew trees/Trunks. Two of them I believe. They say they are over 100 years old. They will be felled but I might have to sned them out. What should I be willing to pay for them? They want to sell but seem reluctant as they dont want to be ripped off.
  6. Thanks for the reply. Bow ties when wet or after its been dried? Is the rule of thumb still an inch a year for air drying? Cheers.
  7. Hey all, been some while since Ive been milling and even longer since I posted here. Ive been milling a lovely old Oak here in Scotland and have a few nice slabs but there is a good but of shake near the middle. So some of the slabs have a wet split right up the middle. It comes and goes but its there. The pics below are just a limb. The Trunk is about 3.5m in diameter. My question is how do I stop or minimise the splitting and keep the slab whole?
  8. Another vote for Jotuls. I have a F370 and its a beast. Beautiful to look at and the Afterburner means there is next to no ash to deal with. The Airwash works well too.
  9. Hello all, Im looking to get a price for a delivery of Soft or Hardwood. 25t in the Dundee area. My Post code is DD8 3TQ and there is plenty of space to drop it off. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
  10. Ardently voting for the same party all your life regardless of polices and who are running the party pretty much backs up my previous comment, which was not intended to be harsh although being exposed to reality often is... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. How you can put hard working people and Labour in the same sentence without a hint of irony is anyone's guess? You are one deluded man, every comment you post makes this more apparent. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. 100% correct. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  15. Not always. I insure a 1971 Aussie Charger with Rods and Sods. I can mod as much as I like, I just have to tell them what I've done and it costs nothing extra. Same as many classic insurance policies. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. It's pointless arguing with Libtards. No doubt he actually agrees with a multicultural flag. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. Cheers dude! Why don't freelance climbers form a union? If there is a demand why can't the rates be better regulated? I know I'm a total noob here and to be honest I signed up for the milling forum and can't pass up s good rant but it seems like you guys need some Norgie guidance. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. Cheers Mark! I hope I'm not coming across as a total D***. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  21. I don't see why anyone should pay more than a flat percentage than anyone else, you work harder and earn more you still pay more. So any way of dodging is ok in my eyes. I don't pay any tax in the UK no, lol. I pay minimum NI contributions to meet the years and levels required to get a pension from the UK. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. Yes but a lapse in concentration can result in one or more trains crashing as has happened a couple of times these last years. They are responsible for that and their pay should reflect that. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Maybe not? But all my friends and family who are self employed pay next to no tax. Mostly cash in hand doing Arb work, grounds work and window cleaning. The ones who do charge vat write off cars, trucks, take dividens, pay the wife etc etc etc. I don't begrudge them but £30k paying tax is a lot less than £30k dodging it. 24. Sorry Kevin, did not mean to personalise it. I meant people in general. I lack tact, especially on-line. I could not do such a mundane job with that many people to be responsible for day in day out for £60k. I'd go mental. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
