  1. But I'll assume most are self employed and that's why I qualified it with PAYE. £30k goes way further when self employed and there's plenty ways to dodge tax. I earn OK money but have to make a lot of family sacrifices, it's swings and roundabouts really. We are all free to make the choices we do and if Train Drivers fight for their wages and maintain a nice family life who am I to try and stop them? More power to them I say. 2. Then go drive a Train. I could not give two sheets about sympathy. It's not s race to the bottom you know. £60k is not that much when you PAYE. I'd struggle on that to be honest. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. Not their problem though is it? One generation ago most families had a sole breadwinner. Now maybe their families can do that and provide a nice home environment for their families. Instead of moaning about them earning more why not ask why others earn so little? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. Fair play to them. £60k is not that much these days people are just so used to ever diminishing wages and settle for less. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. Good points but "peak Oil" seems to be pushed back time and time again. Old North Sea Platforms have had their life expectancy more than doubled and only now are being decommissioned. This is not a sign of Peak Oil though as Subsea Wells that are remotely operated are much more common. I install Wells (completions) Upper, middle and Lower that allow you to produce from different zones, say 8 zones. Before 8 zones meant 8 We'll Heads on a Platform, now you can run all these zones from one Subsea Well Head. I can log in on a PC and remotely operate our Zonal Valves incrementally and choke back or open zones from anywhere in the world. We have real time pressure and temp, flow meters etc etc. Peak Oil, I'm my opinion is a tool used by the Oil Companies to artificially keep prices inflated. 2040 will come and go like all the other Peak Oil dates and then it will be 2060, 2080 etc etc. Crude oil is dirty and it's cheap I really can't see Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. We will, but not in our lifetimes or even our children's. The boom days are over though, at least for the foreseeable future. Oil Companies will be much more cautious and no longer throw money around like before. Gone are the days where we could hop on a flight to the US, Malaysia, Australia etc for a course when we could just as easily do it in our home country. We've also lost a lot of perks like free use of Cabins in Norway etc. I think in the next few years Crude Oil will go up in price to around $75 a barrel, if/when that happens and there's no dead cat bounce we'll start to see serious global investment again. 7. Couple of inches on me. Same boat though, never feel the need to throw my weight around these days. Did all that in my teens and I got away lightly. Many of my work buddies are banned from travel to the US for work because of assault charges etc. I'm just glad my stupidest mistake was when I was when I was 16 and does not count. Thanks for the second part. not sure why things got so outta hand, all I really wanted to convey was what's happening in the real world in the Oil game as far as I see it. I'm not sure of your stance on independence? As a lowlander I'll guess remain? I could well be wrong though? I was full on leave before but the SNPs stance on the EU has made me re-think. Now Sturgeon has as good as dropped Indy2. If we do ever actually achieve independence and Trident is moved away from the Clyde I honestly believe the second Scottish Oil Boom will be your way. When the North Sea kicked off it was a toss up If Aberdeen or Dundee would be the base city. It's crazy how the fates of two areas changed so much based on the final choice. 9. Cheers Tim. Pleasantly surprised by your reply. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. Very astute. I'll push the boat out and hazard a guess you're called Wesley? Please don't come and batter me with this new found info! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. Could well be right? Who knows? Weegies love to play the hard man, usually 5'.4" in Shell-suits. Regardless, I'm Andy Holden, fae Aberdeen and I'm a Service Leader for Halliburton. Tims welcome to use this info as he sees fit. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. It comes across as a poor attempt at intimidation, I'm not sure why he feels the need to go down this route? Maybe he feels all good discussions should end with a punch-up down the local? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. Why would you assume I have anything to hide? Just because you demand this info does not for one second mean I'm obliged nor feel inclined to hand it over. Ask nicely and I'll consider it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. Interesting demand, how about you start us off.... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Shell has over 90,000 employees not including contractors. Everyone and his dog knows someone who knows someone who is a "high flying Exec" it's meaningless. There is so many mundane devisions from procurement, inventory, SAP, logistics, storage, HR, public relations etc etc etc each will have a plethora of "high flying Execs" that have not the first clue about global reserves nor extraction. 16. I agree with this but again you get all sorts of info on-line some truth hidden in a vast sea of BS I'm not going to spend hours reviewing and countering what is most likely BS posted by someone who clearly has a childlike mentality and who's mind is obviously very firmly set based on his YouTube videos. If he has such a firm grasp of the Global Oil markets I suggest he submit his CV to all the relevant government agencies and oil companies, I'm sure with his hundreds of hours research he would be snapped up instantly..... 17. Nothing wrong with cutting grass, if I ever lost my job I'd be happy cleaning windows and cutting grass too. Quick easy money and my brother did it for years and paid off his mortgage. But he'll readily admit watching a few YouTube vids would not make him nor I an instant expert in any field no matter how much we tried to claim otherwise. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. Partially to blame yes. Halliburton Cementing though. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. You are simply a child and this post above all others proves it. I regret being drawn into this pointless discussion with you. Reply what you will, you'll not get an another answer from me. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. The main thing here no one is asking the opinion of a Grass Cutter anything. Your analysis counts for nothing, your perceived intelligence with no education to back it up counts for nothing. Your YouTube clips count for nothing. If I ever have a question on what length my grass needs cut then maybe your advice would hold some weight but even then I'd seek a second opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. I've made various comments regarding my opinions and position. I'm done discussing it further with someone who thinks Oil related education and actual global experience counts for nothing against his onslaught of YouTube clips. I simply don't have the time nor the inclination to view each and every post made by someone with zero experience or education wanting to prove a point he found on the internet after mowing lawns all day. It's utterly pointless. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. Not even subtitle swerved. So no education, no field experience and a few hours on YouTube says all there needs to be said on this matter. Give it up boy. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. I've said all I'm going to say on the matter with someone who mows grass for a living and watches YouTube vid's for enlightenment. My profession is production enhancement and recovery from marginal fields through the use of ever developing technology. I'm a part of a fairly small global team and I don't need you telling me my business based on your google research. I also could not care less about what you or others do for a living but pointing out what you do do, and I'll put my neck out and assume a lack of any further education highlights the futility of any further discussion. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. Thankfully I have a Norwegian Contract that's so well sewn up due to seniority and the unions I'm very very unlikely to ever lose my job. Have fun with the Mower... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
