  1. I disagree with this entirely. I dont own two houses but why should I not be entitled to own a second just because those who cant be arsed to earn enough to afford one moan about it? Second homes and buy-to-let are already heavily penalized anyway. May be they should reflect on their life choices.
  2. I really dont see the need myself. If people want some training by all means, but to make it a requirement seems pointless to me. There really is nothing to the basic operation and everything you need to know is in the manual. Loads of videos on youtube for technique and tips. And asking questions here of course. I'll assume once you get into the serious Mills, and not the hobby ones most of us have here then thats a different ballgame.
  3. Ooooooh, lovely! What size of log was it originally? Got a couple of 30" Logs to put through my Mill, not looking forward to canting them over.
  4. First coat of oil on the body.
  5. I bought a trim router for all edges. I think a spindle sander would be great for all the bends/radius on the legs etc
  6. Thank you. It’s not that difficult to do really, just need the right tools and a bunch of time. The band on my band-saw snapped so I bought a nice DeWalt cordless Jigsaw to cut the templates out. Most of the bits came out great, but a couple not so great which resulted in hours of sanding. would have been better waiting for the new bands to arrive. ? live and learn. A trim router really helped. And needed to buy a bunch more clamps, plus the dowels. Infact it might have been cheaper just to buy one. [emoji23]
  7. Seen a nice Rocking Horse someone made on here and thought I’d try and make one for my wee one. It’s made out of the first tree I Milled, a Beech. And an oak I milled too. The dowels are Walnut. If I make another I’ll deffo invest in a spindle sander. [emoji16] I need to cut off the raised part of the Saddle as it digs into her bum. Then oil the horse part.
  8. I think he forgot to add at a price he's willing to pay.
  9. Have you thought of parbuckling them up the ramps with an electric winch? I will do soon. I'll get something fab'd up that mounts like a Woodlands Mill. Currently there is nothing behind the Mill to Anchor the Winch to. But Im limited to lifting 10kg (supposedly) for the next 4 weeks due to back surgery. So my legs are safe for a little longer.
  10. Story of my life! Always someone one inch bigger than me.
  11. You'd have to pay someone a grand to remove it.
  12. I like to live life on the edge so I'm still rolling my Oak Logs up some beams onto my Mill.
  13. It is. Is yours 24" as well? Quiet at the back!
  14. Wish I had the space and the cash for this. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/460093628229304/ Gotta be worth double that. 24" is the cant of my Mill too. Would have been perfect.
  15. Ohhhhh, very nice! How long did that take? You must have a very steady hand.
  16. Yes, I do need to get some smaller bits. Any recommendation? I followed a trick someone posted on-line. Clear packing tape all over the piece. Then spray glue, then position the paper template. Then another payer of clear packing tape over the top. The last layer of packing tape is to help the Router glide over the piece. When done you simply rip everything off in one go and save yourself a lot of Sanding.
  17. Very cool! How on earth did you route out those wee letters? ? I might buy the other bits you get in the kit at a later date. But I now have three Routers and not sure if I need it. But this wee Router is great for small pieces, so we'll see.
  18. Well as you where cruising the Oceans Blue and not living in the UK justifiably none. But whilst living in the UK by all accounts you should pay to one council. If you where just mincing around the U.K. waters you would still be required to pay to one council. I’m sure if you asked them, and not here they’d put you right.
  19. It was a GB Low Pro Bar and sometimes a Stihl Low Pro Bar. Keep in mind the bar was sunk into 30" slabs for the full pass.
  20. I ran a 36" Bar on my 064 for Milling. Handled it no bother. If its for a specific job maybe post up the details might help others to assist you.
  21. Yeh not cheap! ? This was 50% off so I bought two, one for me and one for my brother. Think they where originally 850nok. Mad. But Work pays so its all good.
  22. Yeh, lots of Birch. Was not really counting that. Used to get a few faven (spelling) in locally produced.
  23. I just work in Norway these days. Been back in Scotland for near 5 years, time sure flies. Norwegians sure seem to hoard all the wood they fell. [emoji3] The farms around where I had a house treated it like gold. Do you fell much Hardwood? Thought it was mostly softwood over there? Picked up a new Merino Wool underlayer when I was in Oslo earlier this week. Expensed back to work obviously.
