  1. Ah, I thought you where showing how much you had left in the tank. Kidding. My 088 loves a drink when Milling too. I'm waiting on an excuse to get it down to him one day. When I Milled some Cherry it warped and split like crazy. Even weighed down with a whole bunch of Tractor weights.
  2. Nice work. And just a sip of fuel I see.
  3. Im more of a Highland Terrier. I like to nip peoples ankles.
  4. Now now Les! That did make me spit my coffee out though. My missus has been 'barking' as well. Over the worse of it now, but the dry cough that seems to be associated with The Big Rona. I guess somewhat akin to Whooping Cough is often described as a barking cough. Anyway, I need to go top up my coffee again.
  5. And my interest in wood obviously.
  6. Oi! Leave me outta this!
  7. Well, with fish having two heads you’re twice as likely to get a bite.
  8. My Great Grandfather was a WW1 and WW2 Vet. He had some amazing stories to tell but never told me any of them. Some where told to my Old Man and passed down to me. He had numerous roles in the war. One story was he was sent on night missions with his Riffle but he liked the German equivalent much more. So he had one stashed away and used that, but had to fire off some rounds with his riffle and show his superior the casings to prove he'd used it. He was also lined up against a ditch with his buddies and machine gunned by the Germans, through pure luck they missed him but he pretended to die with the others and had to wait to dark to escape. He also hated crawling along trenches doing the missions he was on as he'd often put his hand and arms through peoples bodies and he'd puke his guts up, he ended up taking his chances along the top at times (night). He dies at 92 and hated the Germans til he died. We'd play Chess up till when he got really ill. He also let me have a swig of his home brew and a pinch of snuff when I was about 6. Until my mother found out. When we emptied out his loft there was so much up there. I wish I was allowed to keep some, but most of it all went in the skip. A lot of WW2 bring back from the Nazis and British. What was worth anything was sold. What was now illegal I have no idea.
  9. Yes, my travel indulgence trumps what China and all the other 3rd world hell holes are doing to our planet. Dont worry, I'll plant a tree and off-set my carbon footprint.
  10. Im no expert, but some species will be more prone to cracking and twisting, Cherry for example. I guess you're limited to paining the end grain, keeping the Slabs out of direct sunlight and extremes of temp, ie a Polytunnel supposedly can cause cracking and checking. Weight on the slabs helps a lot but when you're fighting against hydraulic power you'd need a lot of weight. Banding can help too. I need to start banding my stock.
  11. It was actually an 064. And I sold that with the Granberg end of last year. But since then the 48" Mill has been used for one Log.
  12. You're gonna love me flying out to Japan for a Cruise in August then. As much as I love Scotland I really have no intentions of not seeing the world more. But I agree, we do need to limit our consumption somewhat, not just on travel but on all oil based products. Almost every single thing we buy is either plastic or wrapped in it. The issue is Greta is just a pawn for other peoples less than altruistic agendas.
  13. I can see why you would think that hypocritical, and maybe in part it is. In no way, shape or form am I complaining about foreign skilled workers filling a role that is needed in the UK, be it a Doctor, A Civil Engineer or a Driller on an Oil Rig. Its why Im in Norway after all. I am against the systematic and cynical removal of entire British work forces and the replacement of them with far cheaper foreign labour. This is not just an issue for Aberdeen but the UK. Most of the Scaffs are/where Smoggies, they are losing their jobs to Polish etc inn vast swathes. I was specifically requested to move to Norway to fill a role that could not at the time be filled with a local. I was brought in at a Supervisory level but also to train the Norgies at what I do. One of the great things about Norway, at least in the heavily unionized Oil Service Industry is they cant pay foreigners less than Norwegians or offer them less benefits making it less appealing to bring people over to fill roles. As of now Im the only Scottish commuter in my department. Im also the highest paid. So although it may seem hypocritical to want whats best for the British workforce, especially in times like this, in my mind at least, its not.
  14. Id not worry about that. With the current known reserves of 1.5 trillion barrels of recoverable oil remaining we have almost 50 years of Oil left at today's increasing consumption.
  15. You really don’t have a grasp of what’s happening on a global level. If you think what’s happening to the industry is a result of being less dependent on oil you’re going to be sorely disappointed. But I’m glad you don’t need to use any oil derivatives in your life. Must be nice not having a petrol or diesel car. Or ever have the need to take the train, or fly anywhere. ?‍♂️
  16. Yeh the U.K Oil and Gas employees are gonna get totally humped, yet again. They will lose their jobs then have the U.K. lads replaced with cheap Eastern European lads. Most of these Service companies are not interested in furloughing for that reason. When the market turns they can hire back who they want and offer them much less knowing the lads will be desperate. It eternally thankful I stopped working in the U.K in 2007.
  17. I sent you a PM. I thought it was for a Log Processor till I looked back at your original post. There is someone Im chatting with on facebook my way who's looking for a Mill, so I can pass on the details to him.
  18. Not a clue, was just brought up at the evening meeting. We where meant to get mud off of the Boat start of Night-Shift but 4 of Rough-Necks followed protocol and reported in they had symptoms. They are super jumpy here so it could be they all have a dry cough, not impossible due to the HVAC. We're getting screened each morning, I now know my average temp is 36.1c. There is 4 fast craft waiting on-shore for Corona cases (supposedly) But this is the first time Ive seen the White Cabins on the Supply Boat. I'll assume if they dont pick up soon they'll be Billy Pugh'd down to there sharpish. By Chopper we're 35 minutes from the beach cruising. Gonna be an episode of the Walking Dead here come Monday.
  19. Thats the Big Rona Bus just pulled along side the Rig. The white section is Corona Cabins. We now have 4 guys who work in close proximity of each other now confined to their Cabin with symptoms. They get get worse they'll be dumped on the Rona Bus.
  20. He's my hero! He's inspired my brand new Valiant Charger project. Id like to see that post also. Ive stated there is a high chance I would be getting furloughed, and that I was sitting in a hotel room in quarantine in my work period not getting paid but thankfully things have improved somewhat. 185 employees have been, or will be getting furloughed in the coming weeks. But thankfully none from my department. We're still full tilt just now and it does not look like we'll be slowing down any time soon. I start my 4 weeks off next week and if the company wants me to stay I'll work all 4 weeks of that as its over time pay. $$$$$ Even better Ive since discovered Im entitled to the Dole in Norway even though I live in the UK. So if I was furloughed Id still get something, its not great, but its something.
