Is the reason foods increasingly cheap not because it’s already state controlled? Take away all the subsidies and you’ll soon see the real cost.

Maybe, I dont quite buy that though. They very rarely speak English, they all seem to migrate to where there is other immigrants have already set up their ghetto's and they all seem to have smart phones so I doubt they dont know what they are expecting when they land here. I think they know exactly what they're coming to when they risk it all in the RIBs. Perhaps its not quite as Rosey on the Continent after all?

If we are that bad here in the UK why are there so many immigrants risking their lives to get to our shores? They literally have to walk past most of the Northern European Countries to get to the UK, or at least they could find a safe land route to anywhere in Northern Europe that does not involve dinghies in freezing winter temperatures.

I think J is just cherry picking Scandinavia and Germany. He is right in that sense though, we are a long way behind Germany and Scandinavia. But being in the EU did not help that one bit did it? We where still the poor man of Europe. Perhaps being out of the EU wont make much of a change in that regard either so its kind of a moot point really.

I guess we do agree on something after all. I dont think change will ever come from the top on this particular subject. Globalisation is here to stay Im afraid and people will always want something cheaper and cheaper. So its just down to individuals really. Wont make much of an impact in the grand scheme of things but its nice to support local or at least UK businesses and the quality is very good. Take the Hogget for example, not everyones a fan but its delicious, its fairly cheap. Think I paid £6/kg last time? And you're directly supporting a Small Croftholder. Win/win! He does a run every so often down my way so I buy then, I dont think he delivers UK wide, but there is bound to be Farmers like him the UK over. Definitely worth looking into.

Scottish Crofters and small scale Farmers. https://www.facebook.com/CreagMhorHebrideans No, 30 minute round trip, but I dont go into town specifically for Fish, I'll buy at the Mongers or Butchers if Im already in town getting a shop or buying other supplies. If I can buy local I do, if I can buy UK sourced I do. Its about practicing what you preach. There is little point in bleating on about it if you're not putting these things into practice yourself. And yes, road miles comes into play, but I feel much better that Im supporting local or UK Fishers and Farmers than importing from around the Globe.

Maybe not a massive failure, that was more an echo of your own sentiments. If its not a massive failure on your part then equally its not a massive failure on the Supermarkets either? If you're buying 6 fillets for £3.00 you'd have to be fairly naïve to believe its being produced in the UK. Its simply not a sustainable price. Three whole fish filleted and 100% prepped for you to pop on the pan all for around 10% of a Trademans hourly wage? Thats simply not sustainable for the oceans either. You cant moan and complain if you're apart of the problem. No fishmonger local, then if you feel as deeply as you indicate then perhaps you need to shop on-line for fish and make it a more of a treat than a staple?

Id say that was a massive failure on your part to be honest. If you wanna jump on that high-horse maybe do so before purchasing? Who do you think you're supporting buying Frozen fish from a Supermarket, in reality yourself and no one else. When you get your feet in the stirrups mosey on down to your local Fishmonger. Be the change you wanna see then come back and preach.

Yip, Ive been asked to mill a 12' Beech Log thats 1.5m wide (max) Ive quoted two days for milling at £500 a day with they humping the slabs. He's keen but I told him to see about getting other quotes as Im busy-

Another good option is to write your number on a bit of paper and take a pic of it. Add that to the pictures at the end. Ive never been caught yet. -

Like I said, my Brother has the Makita 36v, the unit itself was cheap as chips as he already has all the batteries and chargers for his daily job. He was a little skeptical at first but loves it. The fuel and Oil saved will pay for itself within a year, essentially a free saw. Id like the Stihl version, maybe one day but as they say, you cant beat the smell of two stroke in the morning.

Ohhhhh, might have a sneaky bid on that Charnwood model. If you're paying by paypal you're fully covered in the event of it not being as described. Id bet you you could collect, drive it home, drop it and smash it and put a claim into paypal and you'd still win the paypal dispute. Im never put off by claims of collect in person only. In fact I prefer it as it puts other people off. Its collect in person only, but theres nothing stopping that person being a courier. Most are happy to strap to a pallet for you as long as you pay for it and a couple of ratchet straps. Also, Im sure you can just go and see it in action. If you or the sellers gonna get their panties in a bunch regarding Covid then get him to wait outside whilst you have a look at it. -
I think Id find being attached to a cord all the time incredibly frustrating and limiting. Id also be constantly conscious that Id end up cutting through the cord. I buy mostly DeWalt tools so I have plenty batteries, (just bought a 18v first fix nailer awesome bit of kit) but my brother has mostly Makita so it was a no brainer for him to get a Makita 36v Saw. And its really good for what his needs are. The Stihl Battery Saws are great as well, but its a big investment if you dont already have the batteries and chargers.

I have a burn pile outside. Anything and everything combustible gets thrown on there. Would not be keen putting that kinda crap up my flue. Chickens get all the kitchen scraps.

Got a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with an 8 speed auto. Great for normal driving, great for towing and supposedly great off-road too. I do like my manuals though. Converted my 1971 Valiant Charger from a 3 Speed Auto to a 4 speed manual. A V8 and a LSD really deserves a manual box. Was a £10k conversion but worth it.

Looks great. Looking to build a workshop like this before to long. Are you not worried Spruce will rot out very quickly? Ive got loads of Spruce for a build like this but was warned off of using it for the exterior cladding.

With a Logosol Mill you can down to the last 1", cant you do that with a Woodlands? I thought you could.

It will get revved to the limiter for the emissions test. If its no been revved hard in the last year its maybe just clearing out all the reek thats built up.
