  1. I'll repeat what I wrote earlier. When the unions are instructing their members to not turn up at their place of work, schools, then that leaves the councils with little choice but to take the action they are. Do you honestly think that the councils would close the schools if the unions and teachers all said they insist on going to work to ensure the next generation maintain their education? You dont strike me as particularly intelligent Eggy, but surely you're not this stupid?
  2. I think Dave is quite a smart guy, his engineering skills and certainly his job would indicate this. Yes, indefinite lock-down would certainly limit the infection growth rate. But at what cost? Questioning and weighing up alternatives is certainly not in the realms of 'flat earther' territory. You mention a hypothesis of not having lock down resulting in cancelations in treatments and unpleasant deaths yet thats exactly what we're seeing with perma-lockdown. Doctors surgeries are point blank refusing to see patients resulting in countless cancer screenings not taking place and many people needlessly dying from it. We have numerous cases of young people killing themselves as they're struggling with lockdown. All to save people who's lives are almost over. Is anyone asking them if they wish the country to be plunged into this financial chaos and the ruining of so many young peoples lives? What about the common Flu? Since we cant eradicate it and the vaccines available are not stopping the thousands upon thousands of deaths we see in the UK due to the Flu are we to maintain lock-down indefinitely? Or do these deaths not count? Are we now back to the concern of 'overwhelming the NHS'? If so then when the flu season is over would you suggest we come out of lock-down and just shrug our shoulders at the Covid deaths we'll inevitably have as long as the hospitals are not full to busting? Clearly the vaccine is not the be all and end all. The Flu vaccine still results in multiple thousands of deaths here in the UK. We can only assume it will be the same with Covid. So will we give up on lock-down or do these excess and preventable deaths no longer matter? Preventable as in indefinitely maintaining lock-down. Because every life matters and we should continue to do everything within our powers to prevent needless excess deaths. Im curious to see what a 'tier 5' will bring. I'll watch with interest to see if affects the work of many here and if it does they maintain their same stance. Questioning this is nothing to do with stupidity. But if it is then count me in on avoiding cruises in the future, I dont wanna fall off the edge.
  3. You need to open your eyes sunshine.
  4. Teachers and the unions they are members of are inherently liberal. Since the pushback is coming from the unions and they're telling the teachers not to go to work the counsels, regardless of their political stance are being left with little choice here.
  5. was the 40 a typo?
  6. The left have a lot to answer for. It should be criminal what they are doing.
  7. But you will be on the list when you turn 50.... Because you'll be on the lowest tier of those who are vulnerable and you'll be on the lowest rung of the priority list.
  8. Truly shocking political games at play here.
  9. 50 years of age is on the list of people to get the vaccine. So what you're saying is simply not correct.
  10. Because we’re taking about completely different demographics. Generally those in the house are coffin dodgers and I’d say nearly all are in the “at risk” category. Clearly children are not and these days teachers all seem to be in their 20’s. If there is any in the “at risk” group they should make a decision if they are willing to take a personal risk for the sake of our children’s future or not take that risk and throw a whole generation on the scrap heap.
  11. No idea, but tell them they stop being paid the minute they walk out and we’ll soon see if their convictions are so strong.
  12. That will be the age bit I guess? 😁
  13. You forgot old. 🤣
  14. Does not fit the narrative.
  15. Looks like what Im seeing here in Norway on a daily basis, but without the fear mongering and mass hysteria.
  16. Phil Scofield mincing about on TV flogging knackered cars has noting to do with EU law. I think you're confusing Terrestrial TV regulations with what the BBC implement.
  17. Its the same with the Oil Field self employed. On paper they have a great day-rate and some folk moan. But as you say, they pay their own tax and NI. There is no health insurance and no pension and no shares schemes or base salary. Once you calculate it all out the Agency staff are slightly better paid but then they have no perks or job security.
  18. I dont see an issue with that. Whats wrong with working over time and if there is a need Id rather that need was filled from within the UK and not farmed out over-sea's. Edit; just seen Silverhooks reply. If it where allowed see above.
  19. In its original conception the M Series was aimed at farmers knocking out fence posts etc. With its single head support its never gonna be that accurate and will only get worse the longer the bar you put on it. If Logosol recommend a maximum length bar I'll assume they've tested with a longer one and where not satisfied with the results. You should only expect so much from a tool aimed at making fenceposts and beams. If you're planning on maxing it out to any kind of accuracy you're headlining into Bandsaw territory.
  20. Retired Doctors. Let that sink in. Highly intelligent professionals who know better than the vast majority of the inherent risks involved in Covid, who have made a good wage and most likely have a comfortable life and pension consider the risks low enough for them to accept. Or we have your opinion. I wonder who’s I’ll respect more?
  21. Im thinking of a Bobcat one day. But til then I'll keep renting in the Avant. I quite like 3" slabs and seem to get more interest in them these days than I do in 2". 4" is ok but then you're adding needless drying time if you're just gonna rip it down again anyway.
  22. Beat you to it? You just gave a completely different size and one thats almost impossible to man-handle. The rest of the saying is fools seldom differ, but that would be unfair on Saul.
