That may well be on the cards but I need to put my sensible head on just now. Over in Norway and the prospect of getting my pants pulled down by Sturgeon and having to pay £1750 for the privilege is keeping my purchases in check.

Cheers Saul, its from a trusted source and had little use. So the engine should be genuine. I guess I'll test the Comp when it arrives. Just watched a vid of it against a 880, seems very little in it which considering what I can find about the HP difference is surprising. Obviously I cant tell if they've modded them but Id assume that would be in the description?

Anyone have any first hand experiance of the old 084 in a milling scinario? Ive got the chance to snap one up for a very good price and need a saw for the Panther that I'll be getting later this month. I sold my 088 last year and regretted it ever since. It just sat in the garage for months and months and almost as soon as I did sell it I'm needing an Alaskan set-up again. I really do want the 881 but I need to be realistic right now and with the bloody SNP making all arrivals into Scotland subject themselves to 11 nights quarantine at a cost of £1750 and lessening prospects of my employer footing the bill. This could go on till Autumn. 😮

Numerous people have given alternatives, alternatives that are im places like (shock) Norway but you clearly have no answer to that and refuse to explain why. Thats cool beans, but dont pretend that this pandemic could not be held in check with less stringent measures because (shock) its working here in Norway. Again (shock) it works here in Noreay and they are even looking at relaxing some measures in a country where the measures are already more relaxed than the UK. We're talking large towns and cities here, not the vest wastelands. You mean the very, very limited number of those who are under the average age of dying from Covid which is 82 and have existing medical conditions are now surviving due to the medical treatment they receive? There is a vast difference in false and personal narrative you're trying to push here and the truth. The irrefutable truth is that 99.991% of the English population under the age of 60 survive covid and the vast majority of them do not even know they have it.

Yeh, I'm staggered as well. I mean, how on earth does it spread so fast in the UK with all the restrictions and masks in place yet with the same populations densities in towns and cities here in Norway its below that of the UK and there is less restrictions and voluntary mask wearing. The infection and death rates are lower, they're not the same or higher, they're lower. As someone who has a such a self-professed grasp of the very basics of viral spread can you please explain why?

Swedish corona researcher quits after receiving hate messages and threats: "Frightening" - Norway Today NORWAYTODAY.INFO Professor Jonas F. Ludvigsson at Karolinska Institutet (KI) in Stockholm will stop researching COVID-19 after receiving a... Ludvigsson, who is also a pediatrician at Örebro University Hospital, has received hate messages and threats for his research, including a study that showed that primary school teachers are less likely to become seriously ill with coronavirus than other adults.

He’s desperately looking for any scrap of evidence to the contrary. Since he clearly can’t it far easier to just start an Ad Hominem argument instead. Next he’ll move onto his favourite, Dogma.

The amount of missed Cancer screenings will be a huge scandal in years to come, most likely sooner. Thats just one aspect. When you tot up all the other missed surgery's etc its putting a massive amount of peoples lives at risk or in continual agony. We're severely buggering up our children's education and the building blocks they need to form normal social interactions by being in continual isolation. Its criminal whats going on. Long Covid seems to affect a very small percentage of those who catch the virus. Yet catching Cancer to late will simply kill you. Certain death v something that may or may not be a thing and may or may not have any long term effects. These apologist t*ats will always, always have a reason why they they feel we should be kept in this every more draconian lock-down.

Every death is a huge loss for family, friends and loved ones. But we must put Covid into perspective. Around 1,600 people die every single day in the UK, for some reason or another. In recent weeks, Covid has barely featured in the top ten causes of death. The average age of a coronavirus fatality is 82: that is older than average life expectancy. The reality is that this horrible condition is only very dangerous for a tiny minority of people. Anyone catching Covid has more than a 99.5% chance of surviving it, most with no symptoms at all. Only a fool could read this and see something wrong with this statement.

You absolutely can compare the UK to Norway. How on earth does the virus know its in a packed store in Norway with no one wearing a mask and not a packed store in the UK that has enforced mask wearing? How does the virus know its in a packed Ski Centre in Norway and not in a packed Ski Centre in Scotland? We've been forced to wear masks in the UK for months in the UK and still not everywhere in Norway. There is still a large BAME (I hate that expression) in all the Cities here in Norway, so how does the Virus differentiate that its in Norway and not the UK. And no, everyone is not 'spread out' the majority of the population is in the Cities and Towns. The vast Majority of Norway is a wilderness. By your reckoning of the UK Government reacting slowly you'd have to admit the Norwegian Governments reaction is a snails pace and still no where near that of the UK. When you have two countries side by side, with the same genetic make up and ethnicity you really do need to ask yourself why one managed just fine without breaking out the Jack-boots and the other feels the need for it.

Do you not think there is a conflict of interest when the very people who are advising and have a great deal of leverage when it comes to the measures we're having to live under are set to make a substantial amount of money from what they recommend? I don't think openly questioning this is within the realms of crazed conspiracy theories. I know I keep banging this drum but here in Norway we're not living under the same harsh measures and the infection and death raters are lower than the UK. How could this possibly be? The Norwegian Government has just announced that Winter Holidays are still on as long as they are taken within the country. That's trips to your cabin and also the very busy ski center's and of course masks are still not enforced unless on public transport. So when these people take their holiday to another part of Norway and take a flight they have to wear a mask for the hour or so they're on the flight. And I fully get that. But Norway is not grinding their country to their knee's. People still have a lot of freedom and on the most part businesses can continue to function. And again the infection rates are lower than the UK. So forgive me when I question SAGE and the measures that they are pushing the UK Government to implement and also question the apparent conflict of interest that may or may not be there. But I do believe that it should be questioned and not scoffed.

I like the sound of that. Which one did you go for?

Tip for drying out your daily supply of logs for your wood burner
trigger_andy replied to cessna's topic in Firewood forum
I see Tarp in that very picture! Yes, yes, I need to build a drying shed. Its on the list. But happy wife-happy life and a cosy living room reaps the benefits in the bedroom . -
I see where you're coming from. My Brothers a Builder/manager in London and said its the way it should be done. There has to be air flow above and below the joists, which there is. The Kingspan is 1" below the floor boards and the DPM and the DPC is meant to be wrapped around the Joists and under the Sole Plates. There has been work done under there before and DPC was wrapped around the new joist under there. But obviously no DPM. Under the Joists and DPM there is air bricks at each end of the rooms and they are clear.

You need to start using the quote function. [emoji3] Ive not had a chance to start yet. Been doing work on the house this last time home. Lifted the Floor Boards in the living room to install insulation and seen the joists and and sole plate and had started to rot out so the Joists needed plated up at one end and the Plates all needed replaced. Added some DPM so hopefully should last the next 140 years. [emoji3] Huge difference with some 100mm Kingspan under there. Also milled 10t of Larch into Fencing and got that up. I'll need to start on the shed next time off though as Im (literally) getting snowed under in logs and need them milled up and drying under something other than tarp.

To whom are you responding?
-
I know I dont need it. And Ive already had Covid. No sigh of anti-bodies though, Not that it matters anyway. But I will need it if I wish to keep my job. I see sage are pushing for continual mask wearing in public, in perpetuity and also seasonal lock-downs. And this is a supposedly measured response to a virus that kills people older than the average age of death here in the UK. I really do wonder what it would take for people to put their hands up are admit that the draconian measures far outweigh the severity of the Virus and who it genuinely affects.

Pfizer given protection from legal action over coronavirus vaccine by UK government WWW.INDEPENDENT.CO.UK Pfizer’s UK boss refuses to explain why the business needs protection from legal action But you still cant sue if anything happens to you further down the road. The government has basically signed the waiver on your behalf. You can’t sue Pfizer or Moderna if you have severe Covid vaccine side effects. The government likely won't compensate you for damages either WWW.CNBC.COM Companies like Pfizer and Moderna have total immunity from legal liability under the PREP Act if something unintentionally... I guess its a gamble I'll just have to live with. But hopefully I get the opportunity to take the Oxford vaccine. Scoff all you like but Id rather limit my exposure to new tech vaccines and go with the tried and tested old school variety.

I dont disagree with you. But they are already paying tax on selling that land. Good for them if they make a killing on it. You'd do the same and dont pretend you'd not. And if they had to pay a further jealousy tax then the price they'd ask/demand would increase as well, simply pushing up the cost of the housing even further. We're not (yet) in a communist country and thank feck for that. Its a form of jealousy when you want to double tax a private individual selling land to developers. Do you honestly thing that if the Farmer went all altruistic that the developer would pass the savings onto the house buyers? No ones that naïve. When you come to sell your Starter house will you do so to a poor first time buyer at a price they can afford and make potentially a significant loss over selling on the open market? Or perhaps you'd welcome paying a punitive tax on it instead? Or is this tax only for other people and not you? Well, thankfully thats a Pipe Dream. One or the other, but not both. Call it whatever you like I dont think Farmer Joe should pay any tax on selling his land anymore than you and I should making a profit on selling a house. Its a slippery slope when the public wish private individuals to be taxed even more out of nothing other than envy. We should be careful what we wish for.

Of ringed-up logs? Burr Oak?

Good grief. Jealousy will eat you up from the inside.

You think there is no tax to be paid on selling a field for millions?

I think its more of a personal dig to be honest. Had someone else said as much he'd most likely agreed with the sentiments and then he'd have Mr Wet Blanket nodding sagely in the background.
