I only quoted a portion of the restaurant section as you said in a previous post that you did in fact have to wear them in restaurants. Now you've changed your story on that. I just wanted to highlight that. It also gave the indication that this rule was Norwaywide, which is also not the case.

Your post is somewhat ambiguous. But I'll assume you mean that in the Stores in Norway they people are respecting distances etc, using hand sanitisers and all that BS? Because if that's what you're referring to I can give you first hand empirical evidence that that is simply not true. No one seems to cares about personal space, people are shopping as close together and leaning over each other just as you'd expect in the UK, they're picking up and smelling fruit and putting it back if its not to their fancy, standingshatting maskless with friends and its great. I think you do the people of the UK a disservice. Maybe you live in a right sh*thole but there is plently of places in the UK that are not even remotely like the picture you seem keep on promoting. Perhaps the sh*thole you live in does need an Oslo style lock-down. But where I live it could easily get away with less restrictions and as almost every SAGE prediction has been wildly inaccurate I'd say they'd be wrong here yet again, based on first hand real life and not their computer generated models with extremely sketchy success rates.

The point remains that if Stavanger with a population of 130,000 and Sandness with its 70,000, effectively 200,000 people as they towns have virtually merged are not wearing masks and have the freedom to go out and eat in the restaurants without a maks and go shopping without a mask why are the rates not going through the roof like we're told in an part of the UK of we where to implement the same levels of restrictions? The 'cities' near me Dundee and Perth have populations of 150,000 and Aberdeen 200,000. So the population densities are very comparable as are the demographics. But we're fed doom and gloom and horrific deaths should the levels of restrictions be lifted. But gathering first hand experiences right accross the pond with the same population densities and demographics shows it snot the case. Yet people are falling over themselves to support a blind and blanket level of restrictions and dont even begin to question that a different level of approach could also work.

Im sure its great. But when they get it anyway they have to come up with something as to why it never worked and the the simplest and unverifiable answer is to say it could/would have been worse.

That was sarcasm. Well I think you failed, as it most certainly can be. You have not offered a single explanation to why the UK could not emulate Norways localised response. You've just stated that Oslo is under tighter restrictions, as as they have vastly greater infection and death rates thats justifiable and again, something that we could emulate here in the UK. I could still travel to Oslo tomorrow if I liked and vice versa. People from Oslo can also travel directly off-shore with no checks on Equinors installations. Either hop on a flight or drive over to the west coast and not wear a mask. The Chopper I got home yesterday had 19 of us packed in like sardines and guess what? Yip, no masks. If we where to listen to the advisors in the UK Norway should be chest deep in the dead. Thats a matter of opinion. Again, Stavanger, Tromsø and Bergen etc are not sparsely populated wastelands. They are cities and behave the same as any city in the UK. If your point of population density was taken into account then in Scotland and Wales we should see a significantly different response to Covid than we see in England. Yet again, there has not been a single valid response as to why the Virus that is present here in Norway does not spread in the Western Cities when Mask Wearing is optional and more often than not not worn, Restaurants remain again with no requirement for masks and open ski centers remain open and people are generally being allowed to get on with their lives albeit with some restrictions.

So yet again we're swinging back to people inadvertently admitting one of the main reasons we're in complete lock-down is to protect the health of those that refused to do so in normal times. Instead of them paying the price for thier gross personal negligence we all have to. Yeh, seemed great till the government kept on moving the goal posts. After the third move we're currently told no significant lifting of restrictions til the over 50's have had not one but both jabs. Which looks like July. And fools will just nod their heads sagly and say these people know best. And we're only in February, we've 4-5 months to go for them to cook up another reason why over 50's is no longer enough. Even come July and this happens half the Mugs here will gleefully take it down like soup.

Im not saying there is not restrictions, and Im not saying they are not tough here in Western Norway. What I am saying is that the restrictions in place here are far less draconian and still the virus, which is in Stavanger and Bergen is not getting exponentially out of hand. We're told masks are essential in shops. We're told that restaurants need to close to stop the spread, we're told that our ski centers need to close. (oh, and I checked with my mates, sirdal does not impose masks at their ski centers restaurants. ) But the cases here proves that the blanket measures in the UK are simply not necessary. Oslo has always had a much higher infection rate that the rest of Norway, is this due to the vastly greater differences in demographics? Im not entirely sure but it would offer a realistic explanation. But I feel you're kinda proving my point. That a blanket UK wide lock-down des not need to be the only solution to dealing with this crisis. Emulating Norway and allowing kommuners to make assessments as to what level of actions need to be implemented is by far a more logical and humane response. And good for Oslo in protesting the restrictions! I think Oslo re-opening the Vinmonopolet is a social measure and not a financial one. If you're gonna keep people cooped up in their homes at least let them have a glass of wine, as you know (and some here may not) you cant just add a bottle of wine or whisky to (the equivalent) your Tesco Home delivery order. (I miss Helgø ) In Rogaland as well? But again, my point and only claims has been that mask wearing is not required in the vast majority of Norway and there is a lot of cases of Covid here, but the fact people (outside of Oslo) can go about their lives in a vastly more relaxed way that the UK and the virus is not getting wildly out of hand proves that the measures in place in the UK are not necessarily needed and an overkill in the vast majority of places in the UK. Believe me, Id be very happy of the whole of the UK had a Norwegian response. Lock the Capitals down and allow the other regions to respond as required based on actual cases. And a sizable portion do not. Claiming that the majority do could mean anything, could mean 51% take the vaccine. The reports indicate a large percentage do not and considering they are on the front line and see the the actual coal face and not media driven hysteria and still choose not to take it leaves a lot of questions unanswered. But since we're looking at this from completely different perspectives we'll draw our own conclusions as to why. Anyway, Im off down to the Supermarket, without a mask to grab a few beers. Then I'll drop past Domino's and grab a pizza again, like 90% of the people in there without a mask. And just look at the audacity of these people in Stavanger! Going about their lives and enjoying the moment amidst a pandemic. That sneaky Covid, it knows its not in the UK so does not spread here.....

He's just trying to bait you into an admission that as there is a large number of over weight staff within the NHS and also a portion of Doctors that smoke there is no conclusion to be drawn from the fact there is an incredibly high number of medical professionals who for one reason or another are not taking the Vaccine. Its yet another example of the false equivalency fallacy and a refusal to examine or recognise that there might be a more genuine reason for that than ''well they smoke too!''

Had a bumper crop of almost fist sized garlic last autumn. We have one each at least every time we have a roast, which is at least twice a week. Whole in the over they are lovely and smooth. Individually tossed in olive oil they go a bit chewy and are even better.

And it makes far more sense that a sizable portion in the medical feel the same way other than labeling them all religious nuts and young people under 30 who are manipulated by social media. We're talking fairly if not highly intelligent individuals who it could be argued are happy to let others be the guinea pigs. Considering these people are at the front line of Covid and see day to day the actual effects it has on people, not the media driven hysteria and still would rather wait and see, or have taken stock of the actual victims does make you pause and think. To blame religion is simplistic and lazy. And for what possible reason would being religious stop you taking this vaccine? Is the implication that these same people do not have all the other vaccines that are normal to take in the UK? Would they be allowed to work in hospitals without them? Its simply lazy ignorance and a smattering of racism if im honest to label everyone other than whites as religious. Not really. Its hard to ascertain someone's personality over a such a small number of posts and fairly sporadic ones at that. Im certainly not conflict adverse but there's more to me that that.
