  1. Zero exit strategy in Scotland yet I’ve just been out myself to screwfix ?‍♂️Essential?? Not really if I was to be honest but credit to screwfix they have it reasonably well sorted. Went past a retail park containing a B&Q, bargain world, M &S etc and the place was rammed with long queues. You either go solid lock down or not the halfway house we are seeing is not really working. Even the burger van next to screwfix was open. Truth is many have had enough of being told to stay at home simple as that.
  2. No les can’t justify it I’m afraid, especially not in the current climate. Who knows in the future eh ?‍♂️.
  3. If only Les some are ok but some are gonna have to be started with Alaskan ?‍♂️. Got them proper cheap so couldn’t really be fussy at the time. Like I say a loader of sorts would make a night and day difference.
  4. Yeah physical capability etc is limiting factor which ain’t funny at times. Bigger logs and a mill to deal with them is all well and good but you defo need loading/handling assistance.
  5. Yeah I’ve got ramps etc but I’d probably increase a days productivity by 200% if I had access to a decent tele handler ?‍♂️, it’s only milling for myself so not an option in reality.
  6. 100% ? Oversize stuff I’ve been milling is maxing out my standard 130, the milling is the easy part it’s the winching up logs and turning the cants etc that’s the hard part, probs taking nearly as much time as the cutting.
  7. Watching Bloomberg this morning and an article came up ref the EU expansion plan possibly being put on hold. If there ever was any doubt about the EUs primary function as an aid to big business and corporate needs the following statement would maybe point to its true function. “The six hopefuls in the continents south are ideally placed to become a supplier base for European companies seeking to reduce their reliance on China, according to the European bank for reconstruction and development”.
  8. Definitely a colossal FU for sure and not like a top line manufacturer like leibher to get it that wrong, hook failed at 2600t on a test lift combine the whip back and the fact the vessel was heavily ballasted to compensate for the lift ended up with the jib coming over the top of the crane etc etc. I see the first of the jackets have arrived in Nigg manufactured in UAE to be shipped here 100 of them ??. Such a disgrace that a UK firm could not have done the work with the resultant benefits to this country and for that matter why are we letting overseas firms benefit from a Uk wide resource etc etc . I despair at the people running the show at times. Before anyone says about cost etc I’ve seen ship and fab yard conditions in the Middle East and the predominantly foreign workforce etc. UK taxpayers will end up lining pockets of a foreign company yet again. Pretty much a common occurrence within the renewables industry.
  9. Good article Mark and some interesting points. To try and prepare for a multitude of different scenarios is difficult to say the least. The structures involved within the NHS and the management format does not help I’d say in planning for such a variety of scenarios. Surely going forward the procedures, planning and procurement of eqpt to cover every possible event regardless how crazy it may seem will be put in place, right from having the correct PPE to a firm border closure and travel restrictions plan. Good few years ago I worked at Sellafield on a decommissioning project, after a rather large fuck up they invoked a process called a Haz ops review that involved everyone from all levels and disciplines, we ended up sitting in meetings for a month to thrash out every possible scenario from minor incidents to crazy crazy off the wall events. Procedures were devised to deal with every one of them, whilst the process was excruciating it did enable the project to go forward and be completed successfully. Mind you it did go from being a planned 6 months to 3 years to complete ?‍♂️
  10. Bit of both angles in the explanation ‘I think’
  11. I’d presume it’s referring to migration/movement rather than immigration ?‍♂️.
  12. They didn’t storm it at all they were exercising the rights they have to peaceful protest and to bear arms.
  13. No you are not !! regardless of how any tory government had tackled this you would not be happy, that sort of undermines your comments somewhat. When the dust settles the answers as to why some countries coped better than others will no doubt come out. But it’s early days and there is so much that is not known about the virus and also whom is susceptible etc even down to ethnic group ?‍♂️. It’s the utter utter relentless negativity that stands out in your posts more than any facts that may be present. It’s friday night Mark I did hear that a brewery up in Northumberland is giving away beer so have a ride up get a keg and cheer up eh ??
  14. Good bit of info Mark, Bloody tory whining gets a bit tiring like
  15. Preaching to the converted there I can assure you ?‍♂️. I’ve worked for Norwegian outfits and the difference is night and day. I agree with everything you say but unfortunately as I said in the same post we have to live with a full on capitalist ideal in UK sector, basically a handful of companies are giving a fuck and doing it right the rest are just there to rape it for max profit min expenditure. My point was the rate that Andy mentions is slightly misleading as in it was the gross figure for Norway, and the differences between the two sectors are huge in many ways. The pragmatic long term view Norway took has indeed paid off big time. My own view is a form of nationalisation or part ownership of many key industries should be in place and at the very least our oil should be sourced on a form of fair trade type set up not from any friendly that month regime regardless of its human rights record etc etc. The one thing we are never gonna match is the numbers ie Norwegian population and the money generated from oil per head versus UK population etc etc.
  16. Not everyone is on anywhere near that and as Andy will say that’s not quite the reality of the situation, taxation in the Norwegian sector in Andy’s case for example is eye watering. There is a huge misconception that oil and gas equals loads of money, unfortunately in the UK sector that is not the case. You are right in as much as many are in the same boat so to speak. I’m pretty much convinced now that the cure is gonna be worse than the virus.
  17. EnQuest to axe hundreds of UK roles - News for the Oil and Gas Sector WWW.ENERGYVOICE.COM The struggling UK oil and gas sector was dealt another blow on Tuesday as EnQuest confirmed it... There you go Mark you can advise them all to get a proper job.
  18. I certainly know of your political leanings as you never miss a chance to yap on about them. As for your operation I do recall you bragging about how your accountants had managed to get you a low tax bill due no doubt to the ease of setting up ltd company type operations in the UK Do as I say not as I do it seems Mark. Not uncommon when it comes to the left
  19. What is a Proper job ffs do you have any idea of the different roles carried out in support of North Sea operations !!!!! I fear not nor the reality of doing a trip that for those vessel based and not on rotation that might be anything from 4-12 weeks at min 12hrs a day 7 days a week. There’s plenty of lads from mine and your way making a living from it too. This ranks up with the dumbest of your statements. The thousands of guys looking at possible redundancy and subsequent worries about how they house and feed families would not appreciate the left wing envy bullshit from a tax dodging fake ltd company director. Oil won’t go out of favour it’s just the extreme capitalist shite we have to deal with on a day to day basis that’s causing this and let’s not forget unless you ain’t noticed a worldwide virus issue ?‍♂️?‍♂️. Seriously Mark you don’t half let yourself down at times with the sheer volume of pseudo left wing socialist shit you spout on here.
  20. Yeah me too, forced unemployment curtesy of corona.
  21. This is in some respects true but more measures need to be put into place to protect those whom are being hit financially, the loopholes within the systems put in place so far are huge. Many myself included are earning zero with no chance of any assistance. Currently I’m living off what in reality is funds that belong to HMRC not me. I’ve 2 options they are give all I have to said HMRC and bring myself under the threshold that would allow me to get assistance or carry on as I am looking after my family and paying my mortgage, bills etc. Council tax is in now I see no sign of a break from that ?‍♂️. The end result may well be that we save many of the most vulnerable but the prospect of losing my house is somewhat altering my perspectives of the whole way this is being handled. Policies and assurances need to be put in place that at the end of this people’s homes are protected. No doubt taxation will go up and with it the aggressive third party contractor methods used in its recovery. Many will come out of this with no ill effects physically or financially. A sizeable numbed will sadly die but an even greater number will be reduced to virtual servitude if the current methods of tax recovery and penalties etc upon self assessed individuals are put back into place as soon as the lockdown is eased. The saying you quoted is indeed valid but also there is nothing as cruel as Mother Nature, Death is a part of life and the most vulnerable you mention are sadly often neglected and die in significant numbers with no publicity.
  22. Whose rules ? see mark end of day we are all human.
