  1. Nice bit of design/engineering, but fails on saw speed and splitting speed.
  2. I'd take £7500 for mine and it would still be a bargain for the next user
  3. For road towable processors there's nothing to match it on price. Normally when you buy cheap you invariably buy dear, but the WP36 is the exception to that old rule. I'm in the process of looking to upgrade my 2 y/o machine and the only alternative I can find is to import a used Bell from the states, but that's going to be the thick end of £40K. Resale of the Riko is easy as they have a genuinely decent reputation for being simple and easy to operate and repair and make for decent used machines PS/ Riko are very good with their after sales service and can get any spares to you within a couple of days. I can't recommend them highly enough
  4. Iggesund timber via local haulage contractor
  5. £25/ton delivered here for 4.8m processed dry standing spruce. Roughly 75m3 per artic load such is it's lack of weight
  6. Prices vary wildly depending on what part of the country you are in. Obviously if you've a forest with harvesting operations taking place close to you then the cost of haulage will be reduced from that of the same product having to be transported 50+ miles
  7. We've had the same thing over the years in the old castle on our estate. Clear out the old basket, give the area a good hoovering and keep a close eye on any other wood that starts to show signs of worm, give these areas a good soak in woodworm treatment and you should be fine. Wicker baskets are prone to getting worm!
  8. Not too sure I'd agree with that statement. PTO and engine produce similar volumes. Only downside to the engine is that it's a bit of a walk to get to the starter rope when the engine stalls. Electric start engine has been ordered! I've no opinion on what is the best processor, but will say that for my needs the WP36 fitted the bill nicely.
  9. There's nothing there that would put me off if I were to be asked for a hire with my Farmi WP36. I've processed a lot worse with it and have also processed a lot better with it too
  10. 25t of spruce sawn, split and stacked this weekend for a customer feeding a wood gasification boiler
  11. building paper is another option that's gaining in popularity due to it being breathable
  12. We get "dead standing" 4.8m lengths nothing over 14" diameter and 80% of it has well under 20% moisture delivered to us here for £25/ton from Iggesund Timber. Same deal can be had from Tillhill too. FCS are £33/ton delivered and it's fresh stuff, not dead!!! Not sure who the big contractors are over in the east coast, but I'd imagine Iggesund or Tillhill won't be far away..... Cheers John
  13. Can you burn wood fires in Manchester or is it a smokeless zone? https://woodwarmstoves.co.uk Here's another company a long way from you but they have a great website full of great information http://www.backwoodsman-stoves.co.uk Cheers, John
  14. Get in touch with Calum at Riko https://www.riko-uk.com
  15. we pay £750 for an artic load of 4.2m dead spruce all sub 14" diameter. It's moisture content varies from 15-22% Need to remember that we are in a very forested area with various sites being no further than 10 miles away so haulage costs are a lot cheaper than further south
  16. With softwood stacks half and half Hardwood wiggles will be a good bit less
  17. You could do a lot worse than a Ford Focus estate or a Vauxhall Astra estate Forestry commission use either of them for forester's company cars. Whilst maybe not having all the bells and whistles that some other manufacturers offer, they do offer superb reliability and service items that are cheap and easy to source
  18. There's plenty decent motors out there, budget would be the first question
  19. Been loading a couple of m3 onto the trailer this morning. All sitka spruce felled and processed last february and stored in a large two sided barn on the north west coast of Scotland (not the driest part of the world!} Every log tested today was between 14% and 18%. Not sure kiln dried would be any better or worse http://www.john-mactavish.co.uk/images/wood.jpg
  20. I can get artic loads of spruce that's been dry standing before being processed. Certainly all under 25%, most will be between 15 and 20%.
  21. File won't play for me...... according to Dropbox..... extensionless files can’t be previewed
  22. Here are some pics showing the roller and pipe it presses and a wider view on how to easily access it. I manages to get a spanner onto the nut and another (ratchet ring spanner) onto the bolt easily. Maybe not the easiest place to access but if you've ever worked on Japanese bikes it's a breeze. Always a good sign when you can get access with the camera phone too, really tricky places don't allow such privileged access Cheers, John
  23. Not a problem......I'll take a look and some pics tomorrow for you Didn't measure the hose earlier but it's the same stuff as the hose coming from the base of the tank is, 8 or 10mm clear stuff. Tough stuff.
