  1. a Canon It's with me all the time, just incase there's something worth photographing
  2. Cutting all done, now for extraction......time for dogs to play instead of sitting still watching
  3. I got a couple of them for my Christmas and even after being worn for over a month my dogs still snuggle up to me.........I've told the wife that she can save money by only buying one next time, it should last all year before needing washed/thrown out
  4. It always amazes me that so many jobs are sorting out other people's mess
  5. You're right, that's why he'll be doing 50cm3:blushing::blushing:
  6. Might be able to afford an Aston, just shows that his brains and disposable income are not equal
  7. Using Huskie 357's here. Never had a problem with weight or power with them. For the bigger stuff we use a 372 and a 576 but they tend to be a bit heavy if you're using them all day every day for small stuff
  8. Only things flying around here are pheasants........s'pose they think they're safe now the season's over
  9. Never do jobs more than thirty miles from base so just use it on the road.
  10. Cheers It's a Landini Mistral 50. The trailer is a Farma 5 ton job. The pair are a very good match, tractor having enough grunt and trailer not dragging it. I've had it from new in 2006 and really it has cost me nothing in unplanned maintenance except the odd hose or light. If only all machinery were as simple and reliable as this pair
  11. Today was finishing off the felling then starting the extraction
  12. Not sure how au fait you are with Photoshop. If you have it you can make a resizing action then automate it to batch resize a folder full of images. Simple, but no use if you don't use PS. If that is the case then here's a decent pic editor that can do the same thing Batch Image Resizer - Download
  13. Odd that something taught to me over thirty years ago by a great teacher has never left me even after a twenty year absence. Feel lucky to have been taught the right way
  14. Felling some spruce that I planted 25 years ago to make some sunny areas in about our woods
  15. Some pics of the lever I made to use the WP36 as a splitter
  16. I'm going to make a mid roller for mine, got plenty 70mm box left over from making the trailer. I've put a lever on the splitting side to use as a stand alone splitter, not in the least bit worried about this not being a two handed affair simply because the dead-man incorporated into the guard lid negates the need for a two handed splitting lever. There is no way your hand can get near the splitting axe or ram when the guard lid is down. Like number 3 but not something I'd be using as I like the odd bit of near kindling size stuff in a pile I'll post a couple of pics of the lever mod and the trailer tomorrow
  17. Hornbeam is fast growing, but not evergreen, it does give reasonable wind/rain shelter though Lleylandii is fast, evergreen and easy to pull out after a few years...........also goes out of control easily if left uncut for a couple of seasons
  18. I take a different view to that one.... The Piranha chains I'm using on it only need sharpening once a day, caveat to this is to not be using dirty wood
  19. Here's a wee video showing how to change the chain very quickly
  20. I'll post a video of how I do it later on this evening. Essentially I just take the bar, chain and sprocket off together, replace the chain then assemble with all three components together again. Takes less than 5 mins. Cheers, John
  21. Got in touch with Northern Arb via Ebay today and they have said that they will have reels of .325 1.5 chain on Ebay as soon as they have worked out a price for them..hopefully later this week but could be early next week I'm delighted with the performance of them on my WP36 processor, over too tons of larch and spruce been cut to 25cm lengthened only sharpened two chains twice. No breakages, no abnormal wear and after a couple of sharpens the initial "bite" they had is now much less and far more manageable. As long as the price is as low as it is on their Ebay page I can see Northern Arb doing huge business with these chains.
  22. I take it this means only 40% got home? Seriously though, the 60% claim is from LR themselves. We've had three and all three have been broken for spares....Chassis rotting and bulkheads rotting were what done for them. Sure a galvanised chassis and bulkhead can be had for about £5k, then there's stripping down the old one to fit the new one, add another thousand to the bill to replace what gets broken when doing this conversion and very quickly you realise an Isuzu Rodeo is great value Model T fords were once great, then came Austin A7's then Mini's then Escorts. Motoring history's littered with great cars that have had their day, Defenders are just the next ones
