  1. I wonder if chain link fencing would work?
  2. So many of these so call journalists can't even write properly. Often find glaring typos. Sometimes words misspelled when they're quoting "the enemy" - like they're trying to make their political opponents look stupid. On purpose or genuine mistake? Dunno.
  3. So true it's sad... Ever notice how the media add little subliminal misdirections visual and verbal, to push their agenda? Example, there was a headline this morning on Breakingnews.ie about the Irish government thinking about buying a military cargo plane (we don't have any planes). They're thinking maybe last year's model, probably cost about ten million. Above the headline is a photo of a fighter jet (with the caption "photo - fighter jet") Now, a casual reader will see the jet, and think "That's what the fuckers want to spend our taxes on? A fighter jet?? A single one? What the hell good will that do the country....?) And I would agree, and thought the same, until I read further and noticed it's a cargo plane they want, not a jet. And which would certainly be of more all-round value to the state. The intentional deception is sickening. Another one was reporting on the latest failed refugee stabbing rampage in France. A Moroccan. Under the article is a link to another lone article - to paraphrase - "White rednecks murder black guy in America" - just to balance it out, you see, lest you forget for a minute that whites are murderous racist scum. No mention of the other American black guy that murdered an elderly white couple in a cemetery around the same time, of course, that's not news worth reporting.
  4. Just picking statements at random from the thread... "..Better air quality and low fuel prices..." "...run away inflation..Don't rush out and buy new kit..." "...Boris and Trump irrelevant..." Have we all taken to drinking in the morning then? ?
  5. Some wise economist, maybe Milton Friedman was debating with a Swede of some sort, who put it to him that there is terrible poverty in America, but zero poverty in Sweden. Friedman (?) replied, accuracy "You know, among the Swedish population in America, there is also zero poverty..." It's also cultural. Work ethic, tradition of honesty etc. Italy is/was, an economic basket case. Very productive, but heavily indebted. Why? Endemic corruption and mismanagement. Part and parcel of the culture. Government is drawn from the People, and has the characteristics of the People. Latin America - firey, family oriented, emotional people = firey, emotional, nepotistic governments. Scandinavia - boring, sensible, honest people = stable, prudent government (for the most part).
  6. Yeah, the problem is the Chinese antibody test kits are unreliable. This set the whole thing back...but certified kits will supposably be available soon, to the public. How does a coronavirus antibody home test kit work, and how do I get one? WWW.TELEGRAPH.CO.UK The Government has bought 3.5 million finger-prick antibody tests...
  7. Well, yes they could pay their workers better, I suppose. But then, consider that their workers are already 10,000% better off then their ancestors. They have clean drinking water, electricity, free hospital care and education for their children, cars, a road network, advanced communications, limitless entertainment, abundant food of infinite variety, virtually free clothing, flushing toilets, hot water on tap, social security unemployment protection, state pensions, a pretty fair legal system etc etc. Contrast their lifestyles with the workhouses of the early twentieth century... It's the inequality that pisses people off, but we are comparing clouds of heaven to throne of God here... Go further back, to medieval times, and the commoners weren't even allowed to travel the roads of their own country, without permission from their liege lord (much like the Soviet Union!) In material terms we want for nothing. Your council hovel gives the same warmth and shelter as Bezo's high rise apartment. Your lightbulbs are the same brand as his. His $100 socks and jocks are not more comfortable than yours. Your £5 watch tells the same time as his $50'000 Rolex. Meanwhile, in Africa.......
  8. If a significant percentage of the population already had the virus and recovered, or been asymptomatic, then the R value will not spike up. We'll find out what the true proliferation was when the antibody tests are widely available. Other countries with with more antibody testing suggest many more people were exposed (and are now immune) than was previously thought.
  9. The idea of confiscating the wealth of the 1% - it cannot work because it's based on two misunderstandings. 1. The wealth is speculative wealth - shares etc, which are not transferrable. If the shares were to be liquidated - just the rumour - would tank their value overnight. It's imaginary wealth. Even their assets are not really worth anything. What practical value does a billion million dollar New York high rise have to the poor? It's still just a glorified shed. What value a billion dollar yacht, in real terms, V.S an old fishing trawler? 2. Vast blocs of population need employment. They don't have the temperament to be self employed, therefore the need for huge corporations. Economy of scale, big corporations make goods and services cheaper, so the poor can afford them.
  10. Is there an alternative reward?
  11. My condolences. Do you remember what they attributed the cause of death to?
  12. The models are not reliable. Remember, many nations are attributing ALL deaths where Covid virus is found to death from Covid. The vast majority of deaths are people who are at deaths door anyway. Deaths from Covid, Deaths with Covid and Deaths attributed to Covid were not conflated until late Jan. Could have been people dying for weeks/months with/from Covid that were put down as pneumonia or heart failure. The roads were closed. Domestic but not international flights were grounded. Facts.
  13. Covid may have been around much longer than they're letting on. In October, the cell phone data shows no activity for several days on the roads around Wuhan. Something happened that caused the Chinese to isolate Wuhan. In October. A city the size of London. Domestic flights into and out of Wuhan were grounded shortly after, but not international flights. It was October - November my wifey got a really nasty flu. I was actually thinking about calling for an ambulance. I got it but not as bad, shortness of breath, took a month to kick it. Couple of local auld boys went to hospital with galloping pneumonia. More oldies passed away than usual leading up to Christmas.
  14. It's a coded message - PPE doesn't actually protect. Real bio-hasmat PPE is a positive atmosphere sealed suit, and proper decontamination prior to de-suiting.
  15. Dremmel grinder with a pointy diamiond coated bit. Come at the bolt from the outside edge and carve a straight slot. Use a fat flathead bit on a ratchet after.
  16. Sweden had no lockdown. They have herd immunity now.
  17. If you're going over 7-8 tonnes electric you might need to install a 15 amp outlet. Mine is generic Chinese, vertical "9 tonne" 3kw and came with a 15 amp plug. After discussion with an electrician friend, I run it on the domestic 13 amp supply, with an adapter, on a heavy gauge extension reel. We tested the amp draw at different stages of the ram cycle, and it spikes dangerously when it bottoms out if I don't let off the ram. Which is to say, it's fine as long as the blade is moving, if it comes to a hard stop under load, like a serious knot, the amps Spike and sometimes blow the 13 amp fuse in the plug adapter. His opinion was that it's borderline, but ok to run this way, just have to be mindful. Any more than 3kw and it's definitely a dedicated supply. A few seasons of domestic splitting, the generic Chinese (€580) is still going fine. It needed modification to make it movable, as the wee wheels it comes with are only useful on concrete.
  18. Biden has just been credibly accused of sexually molesting a staffer back when he was vice president. He is suffering from dementia. Only Trump can pull the USA out of the recession/depression that's coming. Indictments coming for the Obama FBI and others over the spygate scandle.
  19. The causes of the clusterfuck in Italy will be analysed and computed when this this has burned out. There are many contributing factors to the perfect storm, and seizing on this or that as the cause is pointless. But, that said, I have a theory... The above graphic shows the relative death rate from all causes across Europe. Spain, France and Italy right at the bottom. Top heavy demographics and people just don't die. Why, who can say? Olive oil in the diet maybe? They're all from generations who smoked like chimneys, and have other issues, as elderly people do, dodgy tickers, etc. This flu just pulled the last Jenga block out of a top heavy tower.
  20. It's the "fermented" shark they love to eat. Betcha.
  21. What would you prefer he had done? Just curious. What you have done/do if you were PM?
  22. Treehogs come with long and short replaceable spikes. Only ever used the short ones so far.
  23. Cheers Paul. I have used them with the inserts since, and they make the world of difference!
  24. Well, the Coronavirus won't last long anyway.....it was Made In China, after all...
  25. It's not reversible if the East keeps using fossil fuel. To have a 50/50 chance of avoiding mass extinction, the WHOLE WORLD has to go zero emissions before 2030. After that it will be too late. Do do dispute this, Khriss? It's what 97% of climate scientists are saying.
