  1. Is that the stuff you mix with water?
  2. I'll butt in here - it's the chain oil intake gauze. Inside the oil tank there's a wee rubber tube, just like the fuel line in the fuel tank, but shorter. There's a mesh covering on the end of this wee pipe, to filter out sawdust etc.
  3. Good grief it's sad. Breaks my heart to hear British men of today wringing their hands over whether Nanny will punish them for towing a remapped chipper... Meanwhile the police they're so scared of cower and run from thugs and anarchists. Country awash with unpunished criminals, real criminals, and the backbone of the nation is scared of Nanny. Sorry guys but this attitude really bugs me. The road to utter humiliation, from whence there is no return, is one step at a time. Map the damn chipper and tow it.
  4. At the start, auld Boris was talking herd immunity. Didn't want to lock down...or did I dream it? The whole country jumped down his throat. Genocide was mentioned. Culling the elderly. Ethnic cleansing and do on. Boris complied, and gave everyone the draconian lockdown they wanted. Now they don't want it no more. Now they want to be like Sweden.
  5. I asked that question in my local Stihl place and they said there is a special oil made from Himalayan moon orchids, and they would have to order it and didn't know how much it would cost. It came three weeks later, a very wee bottle, maybe 30ml, and cost €16. There was a stihl logo on the bottle. They said, just extend the shaft and rub it on then slide the shaft back in (stop sniggering) and the oil will migrate to all the bearings and that's that. Every 50 hours. Where they got this information, I don't know, but I followed instructions. Mice got at the plastic bottle and I found it chewed and leaking a few months later, about half the precious unguant gone. Decanted to a glass bottle and gave applied it a couple of times since. I'll post a pic of the bottle if I can find it....
  6. I've noticed the Irish government have been trying to backpedal the fear porn hysteria (that they fostered earlier in the year) in recent weeks. Several resignations over bald faced hypocrisy being exposed, golfing weekends, trips to Italy, etc.
  7. Spend big on the boots, not the trousers. Quality footware is quality of life, and you save money in the long run as the "cheap" boots don't last (looking at you, Treehog). You're liable to rip the trousers with a tooth of a switched-off saw at some stage, and if the stuffing comes out then they're basically done. If it's just the outer fabric torn you can patch them with iron-on patch, one patch inside with the glue side facing out and another outside, with glue side in, so the glue faces meet and bond. It's not easy and not a great fix, as the outer patch will not adhere well once the fabric is saturated with oil, and it will be, after a few weeks, even if you wash the trousers it doesn't really cone out. Thus, the outer patch peels at the edges, but will hold.
  8. Question: Can an Autotune/M-Ttronic saw sense if I mix Ultra at 40:1 and will it adjust the air/fuel mixture to accommodate the higher proportion of oil in the oil/fuel mixture?
  9. The home owner Stihls may be more plastic, but it's good quality plastic. The old Farmboss was plastic and had/has legendary reliability.
  10. Imagine the hilarity if we banned private cars and capitalism etc, and got our carbon footprint down to zero.....while at the same time, the third world becomes more prosperous and start owning cars (ours, which we will export) and becoming consumers, and the world CO2 emissions stay the same - or increase! What a laugh we'll all have!
  11. But who's going to look after the old people and pay the taxes???? ???
  12. Why are we in the west importing migrants who breed more prolifically than us, if we already have too many people?
  13. I believe the Bill Gates vax to reduce the world population by 15% thing was referring to the idea that childhood immunisation reduces childhood mortality, which in turn makes third worlders produce less offspring. Apparently this is born out in statistics, as childhood mortality decreases, the number of children decrease as well. It's a case of overproducing to counter exprected losses - if people have more confidence in the survival of their offspring, they produce fewer. That's my understanding of it. Not by any means sticking up for Bill Gates, mind, just trying to clarify an issue that may have been misunderstood by some.
  14. He could well be! If he suffers a fatal wound to the head and miraculously survives, then it's game on, 10O%.
  15. The Jesuits are behind it, actually. The plan is (always was) to artificially fulfill the end times prophecy in the book of revelation. Here's how it works. The hidden hand socially engineers society to be decedent and godless, essentially offering the population the option of turning away from God. Then you manufacturer a series of "cataclysms" - global warming, plastic in the oceans, Covid, economic meltdown etc. Then you produce a fake Antichrist to save the world. This hasn't happened yet, but one could surmise that the Covid vaccine will be a "miracle" success and make the whole thing go away within months - with a little help from the mainstream media, of course. Confidence will be restored in our scientific saviors. Following this, there will be a rumour of another more dangerous bio-weapon - the "big one" - and governments will assure the populations they will NOT be caught shorth this time. Microchips in the hand - Sweden style - for all. Full tracking etc. Will be volitional though, that's the whole point. But if you don't submit to the chip, you will be economically sidelined. Can't withdraw money from the cash machine etc. The faithful will scream from the rooftops about the mark of the beast, politicians will laugh and scoff and point to Sweden, where everyone had a chip, and the media will make a song and dance about "moral and societal duty". The idea is to separate the true sheep from the sheeple. Only true believers will put up with the ridicule, hostility and economic sanctions and refuse the chip/mark. Then, after a few years to let it all percolate, another virus comes along and wipes out 90% of the world population in a few months. It's genetically engineered to react with the gene-spliced Covid-20 vaccine you got at the same time you got your chip. The true sheep will inherit the earth, under the rulership of the Jesuits. Waddya think? Good conspiracy?
  16. Gizza like, everyone who will be shirking their "moral and societal duty" and not getting injected with the experimental vaccine!
  17. Yeah, a new Covid thread! Count me in on the "It's a hoax/farce" side.
  18. Yup, greased for life. Sounds dubious but it's true. I was dubious about my 460 but it's done a pile of work over the last 5 years and the gear head seems fine. If it ever fails, you buy a new head.
  19. Oz or grams? I really don't know, it's been a long time! Oz apparently. I'm guessing the auld hippies still want to buy and sell in ounces and the young fellers in grams. Went to the motor factor today for filters. Put my mask on, went to counter, asked the guy "Do you require a a mask?" He looked at me funny and replied "Do -you- (italics) require a mask?" I replied "No." So he kind of made a shrugging type gesture and said "Well then..." So I said "Good" and removed my mask and started ordering up my bits and pieces. At least four other guys came in after me while I was stood there, none were wearing masks.
  20. Went in the pharmacy, mask on. See two guys waiting for their stuff, no masks. I pull down my mask and have a work based conversation with one guy. Reapplied my mask when I went to pick up my drugs at the counter.
  21. Scaffold knot/double fisherman is good for rope strength retention, but they Doo tighten up savage. I made round ended pins from 10mm galvanized cuphead bolts, just a smooth metal rod basically. Work it into the knot before dressing, pull it out when done, and it leaves a cavity, way easier to until after loading. I don't know if this will damage your rope or not, the way you are joining ropes, as my system involves a thimble with a link of chain welded on, do it's a bit different
  22. Does anyone know is grass still sold in ounces, quarters, eighths etc?
  23. 1.5 meters vs 2 meters. Who the **************** actually cares anymore?
  24. I suppose the Dutch national institute for health is wrong about masks then? Seeing as how it goes against the "consensus". There is no consensus. There's only the media outlets and persons we choose to blindly trust or distrust, spurred by our temperaments. As with everything. There is real data, but few will take the time and effort to read and learn to understand it. ........................ The Dutch government on Wednesday advised the public not to wear masks to slow the spread of coronavirus, cautioning their effectiveness remains unproven. The Minister for Medical Care Tamara van Ark made the decision after a review by the country’s National Institute for Health (RIVM). Instead the official advice is for better adherence to social distancing rules after a surge in coronavirus cases over the past seven days, Van Ark said at a press conference in The Hague, Reuters reports. “Because from a medical perspective there is no proven effectiveness of masks, the Cabinet has decided that there will be no national obligation for wearing non-medical masks” Van Ark said. RIVM chief Jaap van Dissel cited studies that show masks help slow the spread of disease but remained unconvinced they will do anything to counter coronavirus outbreak in the Netherlands. He argued wearing masks incorrectly, together with worse adherence to social distancing rules, could increase the risk of transmitting the disease. “So we think that if you’re going to use masks (in a public setting) … then you must give good training for it,” he said. The decision followed a meeting of health and government officials after new coronavirus cases in the country rose to 1,329 in the past week, an increase of more than a third. The case level has since flattened out. As Breitbart News reported, the Dutch have taken a different path in their reaction to the global pandemic almost from the first moment it was discovered. Shops have remained open and families cycle along in the sunny summer weather in the Netherlands, which has opted for what it calls an “intelligent lockdown” to meet the coronavirus threat. In contrast to most other European countries where people were ordered to remain housebound for months at a time, the Dutch authorities merely advised people to stay home if possible and to keep 1.5 metres (five feet) of social distance. The Dutch position — very similar to Sweden’s — also reflects a wider philosophical split in both Europe and the world on how to balance the need to curb the disease against the catastrophic economic and broader societal damage caused by harsh lockdowns.
