  1. Did you every find out if this was true with the 161. I would much prefer to just have to buy just a new chip and sprocket then a new saw. Thanks
  2. I'm based by Heathrow on the south side just outside the red zone. Every Oak tree I been to look to quote for work has had OPM. I've had the rush before and it took 5 days to go and a course of steroid tablets. There really needs to be better education in how we can try and contain it and as professionals what we can do.
  3. There is a OPM awareness Day being held by the forestry commission in May in Richmond Park if anyone is interested. [email protected] Use this email to book a place. The aa doesn't offer any courses as of yet but did direct me to Bartlett. It would be great to see an organisation offer a complete course as I can see that in time the whole of the country could be having to deal with the pest.
  4. Is there anyway to stop them spreading or get rid of them completely?
  5. Can't find anything on LANTRA Will try the forestry commission and arboricultural association next.
  6. Will have a look tonight. Not got PA1 so will look into that as well.
  7. Unfortunately I have seen a big increase in OPM nest in the area that I work and starting to get calls to remove the nests. I have yet to say yes to the work but can see that I will have to start offering the service to try and help stop the spread of it. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a course I could take so I can learn how to deal with the pest in the proper manner. Thanks
  8. Thanks for the help. Can't find any part numbers in line so will give fr Jones a call tomorrow. Is there a reason that you can't get part numbers on line.
  9. Does anyone know where I can source spare parts for the above on line. Thanks in advance.
  10. Thanks guys. I have the ventilations at present but will get the arborist next.
  11. Which ones are the coolest to wear in the warmer months. Arborist or gladiator ventilation trousers. Thanks
  12. If you are looking for a 6 inch turntable chipper then the greenmech quad chip is a great option. Would be worth getting a demo.
  13. Could you replace the engine or is there other problems? I have the HB20n and really rate it. Have taken it through houses to get to stumps before. The only downside is it's really heavy and if I'm grinding all day I will feel it for the next two.
  14. Thought I would bump this topic to see if other people were using Google ad and whether it work for them. Have a new website and up-to-date SEO, but could do with some more leads coming in as it does seem a bit quiet. Any advice would be appreciated.
  15. I think the single wheeled transit and Cabstar GVW is rated lower then the twin wheeled versions. Have found after driving single and twin wheeled Cabstar, that the twin wheeled version drive better. Found that with the single rear wheel the truck did sway from side to side when the wood chip was loaded high. Where did you have the body made for the sprinter. Looks very smart.
  16. I run a Cabstar and have done for 14 years. Cheaper to buy new then a transit. Tows well and can handle the weight. Great turning circle and can fit into any drive. Is tight for three guys in the cab but apart from that a great truck for tree work. Did drive transits for the firm I started out with and they are good vans but the Cabstar just feels more like a truck.
  17. I taken chip to be used on play grounds but only as a base. They then put on the recommended wood chip on top.
  18. Just wondering. Really like the idea but just have an Android phone. What iOS does the app run on as I have an iPad 2 that I could use. Thanks
  19. Can the ARB pro app be used on Android yet or is it only available on the iPad/iPhone.
  20. So a petrol 6 inch chipper could end up being £6000 cheaper then the diesel equivalent with the stage V engine.
  21. I have heard that the new stage V Diesel engines will cost around 130% more then stage IV. Does anyone know of any truth to this. Thanks
  22. I hope I will still be working when I can run an electronic truck and chipper. Electric is the way forward, just need to stop producing it from coal.
  23. Can't believe this has not been snapped up. Have a friend who is offering £40000 PAYE for a lead climber/foreman and has not been able to fine anyone since September. There is a real shortage of worker's at present.
  24. No worries. Wish I could justify buying another foot ascender, but will just have to try and wear out my old one quickly.
  25. Depends on what cover you want. To start with, 2m public liability and 10 million employers liability would be fine. Price wise I would guess around £1400 which you can pay monthly. It's also worth having insurance for your tools.
