  1. @sime42 why are frogs and goldfish mutually exclusive? I have both in my little pond.
  2. Been saving this gif..
  3. Wordle 1,054 4/6 ⬜⬜🟨⬜⬜ 🟩🟩⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟩⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Lazy on the third guess.
  4. I’m not a psycho! Anyway, my point is, every time there’s this sort of thread, it’s packed with lots of hyperbolic stories about revenge and various ‘I would’ scenarios. It is 90% nonsense that no serious tradesmen will or should do. If people hear you vandalise property or threaten with violence you’re going to lose clients. On big jobs get the paperwork in place or suffer the consequences.
  5. Wordle 1,053 3/6 ⬜⬜⬜🟨🟨 🟩🟩⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Good run lately, being bold with the first word seems to pay dividends.
  6. I was definitely planning on doing the work soon, that’s true.
  7. A client was late paying me once. So I went round his house, broke in, took his family hostage, locked them in the basement, set fire to the house, salted the earth round his house and had witches place a curse on his extended family for eternity. Went home and found the chèque in the post box! Still laugh about it now!
  8. I’m sure it’s not done in one fell swoop. They pull him in on easy work, where there’s not as much money in it and there’s no need to pay for a top drawer climber. Then, incrementally, he’ll get more and more, till you end up delivering pizzas on your mobility scooter just to make ends meet.
  9. One thing worth considering. If you’re contacting companies to offer your service, it’s likely they are already using someone else, in order to use you, they’ll cut the other guy adrift. Now it could be the first guy is a nightmare, unreliable, or simply charges a bit more than you are going to charge to get your foot in the door. But in a few years, when some eager young buck contacts the same companies, and you find the phone has gone quiet, the boot will be on the other foot.
  10. Wordle 1,052 4/6 ⬜🟨⬜⬜⬜ ⬜⬜🟩🟨⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 An either/or on line 3, not unhappy.
  11. Japanese pagoda tree perhaps.
  12. Darker stuff looks like cryptomeria Japonica.
  13. Thats it, thanks. That secondary pull is clever, I’ll use that.
  14. I think I’ll settle for handbag.
  15. I have done it myself on a trailer full of logs, you just think to yourself ‘it’s uphill or a big load’ before you know it the damage is done
  16. Just a matter of getting the bits off ready to source the parts, no real spanner work yet.
  17. Generally he’s very careful with stuff, so I remained calm. The previous bloke wouldn’t have said a word about it and acted dumb when the wheels fell off sometime this week.
  18. Tis a sheep shank. Can’t see the point of having it double ended tbh.
  19. You make a loop, lay it on the rope. make a turn round the loop, then (and this is the key) make a second turn INSIDE the first one. just shake to undo. IMG_3501.mov
  20. You may be wondering (on the knot thread) why I’m in the workshop. Well Friday, the lad put the safety cable on differently and too tight to the back of the truck. Consequence, brakes came on when turning left, drove home till pulled up by another motorist telling him about the smoke coming from the wheels. Brakes bollocked, bearings cooked as well. If I can get the parts, shouldn’t be too bad (or expensive)
  21. Here’s how it was shown to me.
  22. Yes, I know! It just falls apart when you’re done with it.
  23. Here it is, you can use the loop where my finger is for pulling, and there’s zero tightening. Its just using the loop part, not using the tail to tighten it. Not sure if clear, if not I’ll post a vid.
  24. Meh, got to be a better name than that!
  25. I was meaning it more as a midline loop for pulling, but I’m sure everyone knew that.
