  1. Hornets nest halfway up! 🐝 Earlier than expected finish, out of pocket unfortunately. Better than in hospital or worse though.
  2. The flip side is it can put you off. As an adolescent 12/13/14 I was press ganged into bale carting on the farm every summer. I hated it, and thought that doing any hard manual work would be the very worst way you could make a living.
  3. Morning all. Finishing off a two day job today, went hard yesterday (some scabby dead spruce) So just a tricky lakeside birch to come out. If it doesn’t fall into the lake with me on it, it’s an early finish.
  4. Around half the cost new I reckon.
  5. Back to the subject.. Interesting (at least to me) how quickly things have changed. The Harris/Walz ticket clearly has the momentum. Shows just how big a turn off a cadaverous Biden was to the undecided. Expect plenty of vitriol from Trump and Vance, they may be digging themselves deeper with that tactic.
  6. Wordle 1,145 6/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜⬜⬜🟩🟨 🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩⬜⬜🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Some grim satisfaction in beating Doug I guess. Staggering stupidity on 3/4/5. I shouldn’t really be in charge of moving machinery.
  7. I keep seeing about JD Vance and a couch, but I can never get to the bottom of it. What is it all about?
  8. If my boots last a year I’m happy, I’m not someone who knows the manufacturer or manufacturers name of my boots. I never clean or dubbin or whatever. Here’s my latest set, they’re called Bert and Ernie.
  9. Wordle 1,144 5/6 ⬜⬜⬜🟨⬜ ⬜🟨🟨⬜⬜ ⬜⬜🟨🟨⬜ ⬜⬜🟨🟩🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  10. Any mole that comes into my garden is as good as dead thanks to this device. Illegal in the UK, I imagine because of the explosives involved. But humane and very effective. Killed 2 in one day earlier in the spring.
  11. Wordle 1,143 5/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜⬜🟨⬜⬜ ⬜⬜🟨⬜🟩 ⬜🟩⬜🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  12. Now that is an interesting (and infuriating) board!
  13. Wordle 1,142 4/6 ⬜🟨⬜⬜⬜ 🟨🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  14. I did some work for a client a few years back, I noticed a nearly immaculate 020t in his shed. I told him straight, I wanted that saw (I started my career with one) He says fine, when I get too old you can have it. I did some more work a year or so back, ‘where’s the 020? I ask. ’oh, I reversed over it in my tractor a couple of years back’ Bastardo!
  15. That 020T is 24 years old at least. Never needed any work?
  16. Furious emoji.. I am actually impressed by how close we all got. I wonder if those who got closest have loaded wood by hand into trucks/trailers so can estimate better how many 20/25/30 kg pieces there were in that branch.
  17. I’ve seen that happen, never understood it. Throw a thousand quid out of a tree? See my post on performative celebration, throwing a saw out of a tree is performative anger.
  18. ‘Living up in the hills and cutting their own firewood’? Are you Grizzly Adams? I have had a 272 and 2x372, good saws but they’re not immortal. All 3 are scrap now.
  19. 1: Almost every time they interview an Olympic athlete they always slip in some X-Factor type back story. ’Well done Chardonnay on your bronze medal for riding a kiddies bike round a bumpy course really fast, but we understand your Granny couldn’t come because she’s fighting a really vicious yeast infection?’ ‘Yeah s’right, she can’t stop scratching it and it stinks’ ’Well I’m sure shes very proud of you now etc….’ 2: Performative/competitive celebration when your team scores a goal. Ok, you’re happy, whatever happened to a quiet fist pump, an embarrassed ‘yes!!’ Then settle down for the rest of the match? Now hundreds of people have to throw their beer in the air, hug strangers and generally behave as if it was The Rapture. Grow up you twats. 3: err, that’s it for now.
  20. Simply put, he’s wrong.
  21. Get a 572.
