  1. Good work on a Sunday, hope you were well paid. The general public in those situations are a constant source of wonder. You think to yourself "you're the sperm that won?"
  2. I like it when people just want it felled, "we will clear it up" they say. Great! Pull the saw out, put it on the deck, collect the cheque, drive off without a backward glance.
  3. The other side, luckily for these neighbours they are to the southern side.
  4. This is a hedge in my hamlet, I took out a couple of trees for the owner, a batty woman, I asked about the hedge (not that I wanted to trim it you understand, just curious as to what her take was) she told me that she blames the garden centre as they sold her the trees, how was she to know? Despite this she has exactly the same type trimmed to a nice low hedge in front of her house!
  5. There are some jobs that you can win being more expensive ie high risk of damage or constructive work like landscaping, fencing or artistic reductions. But if you're pricing against other firms for run of the mill tree work price will always be a big factor, we can all relate stories of how a client chose us above someone cheaper because they liked/trusted/admired our professionalism. It doesn't change a thing.
  6. Work wise there are plenty of firms around there. Godalming is a really nice place, I come from a little south of there. At least you won't have to travel far to buy gear. Honey bros is right on your doorstep.
  7. Yes I noticed the turning circle on the test drive.
  8. So I'm looking at this truck good money, 35000 miles 2007 seems sound. I run a 2009 transit (plus a much older one as back up) so it's an upgrade. Plus points, not running overweight, I can put well over 2 tonnes in and tow the chipper without worries, tool box will be very handy. Bad points, actual capacity is hardly bigger than my single cab tranny, speed limiter to 55mph, the youngster cannot legally drive it. So I understand that these are decisions only I can make but has anyone been in a similar situation and can give me their experiences of this sort of switch? Over here there's no 12 week test or anything so it's only a yearly MOT. Thanks in advance. Mick
  9. I remember the first time I saw one of those in action ( the 30hp chippit) I was absolutely gobsmacked.
  10. Hi sandworks, out of curiosity what do you mean by sag? I've a Takeuchi 016 with 2000 hrs with these extendable tracks.
  11. Looks great, I'd have liked a less artistic and more factual infomercial. But.... I'd love one.
  12. I don't watch many vids but this popped up on my FB feed. Really great work, plus some great filming, I love the little snippets of chat. edit, I don't seem to be able to do a link. It must be on someone else's, can someone else post it? Purleeeese.
  13. Yes awkward because of the traffic island below, means shutting a lane for a couple of minutes is a pita. Don't miss that! Good work.
  14. There'll all "after" pics right? If so, looks nice, good shape.
  15. 500 years? Are you George Bernard about that?
  16. I've some walnuts in my field that come out really late, one in particular is only fully in leaf by mid June. Don't worry it'll be fine. Don't worry about the lichen, not parasitic, (AFAIK) sign of clean air I'm told.
  17. Ha very good Joe! actually it was alright for a good 15 minutes, I suspect the effect of the vibration through the tow bar started the movement. The groundie was trying to save it and I thought for one moment he was going to try and run faster and get in. At considerable risk to himself. I was thinking "leave it, it's only a truck" (sometimes I suprise myself a few years back I'd have torn him off a strip for not sacrificing himself Emily Davison style in front of it)
