I had 1 issue with the other Ranger, which was fixed. Why would it go wrong any more than an old banger? I spend enough time fixing stuff, I want a smart powerful pickup that is tax deductible, impresses clients and is a pleasure on the motorway. I’m off to the UK tomorrow to pick up a chipper, driving up to the channel in air conditioned comfort, cruise control, heated seats, all mod cons.

Three year warranty on my new Ranger. Those last century pickups were not powerful enough to tow a 3.5 tonne trailer any distance.

Well yeah, but my old hilux would not have got out of second gear pulling the loader on a trailer.

21 to the gallon is more like a 50 year old 3 litre Capri! Transit is much better. But there you go, 213 hp from a 2 litre engine, it’s not going to come from fairy dust.

Saw your post on FB Pete. My 2 liter bi turbo is averaging 21mpg as well, which shocked me a bit. Mostly towing with the Avant on a trailer or a chipper of course but still…thirsty.

Yes, there’s many different platforms (if that’s the word) where you can get your fix of treework chat these days. My nephew (who is 27 I think) is on Instagram mostly, I asked him if he’s ever on here, he says he finds it difficult to navigate.

I don’t believe so. It’s 19th century technology. We have to find a way of making genuine emails legitimate, a bit like a blue tick on Twitter.

You guys heard of power cuts in the 70s? Ultimate state control of power. Anything like water, power, phone or whatever is a service you pay for and can be withdrawn at any time. Why are they pushing smart meters (to answer Trigger Andy’s question) it’s so they can reduce their biggest overhead..staff, not so they can feed their lizard babies more human flesh. Same as why supermarkets push self service and banks push internet banking and transfers rather than paying in chèques, and why I bought a loader rather than pay guys to cut up and handball wood into the truck. They want more profit, less overheads, like all of us. Now if you lot have some cotton mills to smash up, don’t let me stop you.

To say I hate La Poste is an understatement. I sent off my birth certificate, the marriage certificate of my parents and other original documents via recorded delivery to Ireland to get my Irish passport. Not hearing anything (a slip confirming delivery) in a week I went into the post office to enquire. She looked at the ‘puter and said ‘don’t worry the parcel is safely in Tunisia’ They lost it and the documents forever. Took me months to organise replacements and get the passport. A pox on them!
