    Understood. I’d just say to the client £150 and we’ll do it when we have an hour or two free after another job, prolly a cubic meter of chip. Ideally cash on a Friday afternoon so it’ll get straight into the Colombian exchequer without delay. (I joke of course)

    If you set a w If you set a winch on top of the splitter, then the wire round the top of the big billet you can pull it onto the splitting deck upright. See it a lot here, saves an awful lot of ballache.

    It’s an edge of the woodland tree by nature, it’s soon outgrown by ‘real’ trees in woodland. The leaf will appear wherever there’s light, laying is the best option, but coppice (not topping) hazel will provide a summer screen.

    Were there any historical murders at your house that the realtor didn’t tell you about? I think you have to open up those boards and have a look inside to see what’s going on, should be easy enough to see once you can access the flue.

    Pretty sure that’s an ash, so if luck is on your side it’ll get ash dieback soon. In other observations it got reduced around 8/10 years ago to the lines I added. At the very least it should be redone to the same level imo. This is what you should be pushing for for a minimum, should be a simple one day job for a normal tree firm. Dunno about laws, doubt it if I am honest.

    Did a day subbing for a tree firm on the Bluebell railway in the late 90s cutting overhanging branches. There was a volunteer there in a wheelchair because he got a bit overeager trying to clear up a few years before.

    If I priced it ‘correctly’ in those circumstances it would be very very high, much higher than you. I don’t have your equipment so I’d have to team up with others with heavy metal to get it done. What would probably happen is I’d fudge it and spend three days running wood back and forth, looking at the fuel gauge, cursing the Gods. Having said that, because that is a beech as opposed to a cedar say, the wood does have some value, that is a factor. What would you do with the wood from that tree?

    Everything depend on logistics, is there a local firewood guy with a tractor and grab who’ll take the wood for free (or even pay?) someone who’ll take the chip nearby? (Maybe aforementioned firewood guy as a sweetener) If so €3k plus purchase tax, two days climbing and lowering max. If you have to clear everything off site yourself, and the yard is a bit of a trek away, then break out the calculator and do your sums. Edit: Thats 3 guys plus Avant and 10 inch chipper btw
