  1. Yeah the more I look in to it the more I realise you are right Steve. I have a handful of chains that I will make sure are ready for the job in a couple of weeks and just hope I don’t find any old relics within the stump. I’ll get pictures.
  2. Nice idea but the trunk is right next to the house and the side you would get to it from has no access for a decent grinder unfortunately
  3. Nice idea I have a dremel knocking about somewhere I’ll look for some decent filing attachments
  4. True, I’ll be prepared for all that the bugger May throw at me
  5. Yeah I came across a old shipping chain in one 2 years back and the customer said oh yeah I used to hang them on the tree years ago as a place to store them [emoji20]
  6. Hopefully not Mick. But who knows what will appear in an old willow pollard.
  7. Yeah it is but I would like a tungsten chain to cut through it but I can’t fine a 30” one for love nor money.
  8. Sorry stubby I wasn’t having a go, just a poor sense of hummer.
  9. I need to cut the bloody thing down first.
  10. Too close to the house or I would have been getting the blow torch out [emoji848]
  11. I have just seen a customer who has been told by her home insurance to cut down and poison a blacked old willow stump due to subsidence (don’t get me started on the whole insurance telling people to cut down trees, I know it will make it worse I have told the customer but the insurance company won’t insure unless it’s gone). Anyway I digress. The stump is about 10ft and almost 80% soil. So I am looking for a tungsten carbide chain to cut it down but can’t seem to find a 30” one on the market. I’m sure they used to make them. I was looking at just getting a grab and lifting it out but there is no access for one so it has to be lumped down and carried out. I don’t mind spending good money on a chain that can be used for rotten old stumps as long as it works. I’m I looking for the wrong thing? I just need a 30” chain for the 66 that will cope with soil in a trunk. Or if anyone has any other bright ideas let me know. It’s about 3-4 foot at base and I have no access for large machinery. Thanks in advance people [emoji4]
  12. Hi guys looking for and extra pair of hands on the 27/28th next week. The job is in Marlborough Wiltshire. Ideally looking for a groundy but a will take a climber. The Job is a little further out than my usual spot and I have a couple of guys off doing other things that week. It’s a pleasant enough job, nothing to technical. Give me a shout if your interested, you can pm me or text me on 07725951006. Kind Regards Eric
  13. I would certainly speak to someone from the tree firm via text or phone call. If you leave a message it may get missed no matter how obvious it is. If you actually speak to them then they know. However I’m aware that they have probably already come and gone by now.
  14. I think your right spud. Where are you based? I may well be sending it to you soon.
  15. I’ll also add the buggy leaks oil from the base somewhere like it’s going out of fashion. There is almost half a tank leaked out in to the tray I left it in after the weekend. Any common thinks to check for an chain oil leak?
  16. Right people done a little carb clean (to be honest it was pretty spotless). Saw is still being a right pain in the backside to start. You can’t even get it to a log before it cuts out. I’m just exploring options to see what people think it could be. I’m sure the list is long and eye watering but I’m happy to spend time on it to get it up and running again. I’ve got other top-handles so I’m alright but the 200t is a force that has no match and would love to keep it going. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  17. Nice one. Handy little video that. I’ll have a go this week at some point and report back. Cheers
  18. Sounds like a plan. I’ll give that a go first and see what happens. I don’t have a problem buying a new carb as long as it does the job but carb cleaner might be worth a try. Cheers
  19. My 200T has had a few issues of late and tuning it just doesn’t seem to cut it anymore. I am finding it Boggs down and cuts out if I hold the trigger right back or if I try and cut with it. I am thinking maybe just get a new carb but when I started looking I realised there were about 3 different carbs to choose from. I’ll add pics of the one in my Ms200t and see if anyone knows what one it is or if I’d be better off with a different one. I think the ones I saw were C1Q-S126A, C1Q-S32 or C1Q-S127A Thanks for any help in advance people.
  20. The woodland wasn’t owned by the people I was working for and I didn’t want to go crashing the whole tree down there. Plus there is a small wire boundary fence between the pop and the woodland.
  21. I thought if it was locked to the truck i.e with a chain and lock this would cover you? I’ll have to check my policy. It’s depressing to think that they want you to make your equipment completely unnickable meaning extra work for you meanwhile they are upping the costs and having less to payout due to lack of claims. There must come a point where people just say it’s not worth having tool insurance at all. I think maybe some sort of protest may be in order haha.
  22. Not an issue in the end. Just got up the half live stem and topped them both out. Here are the pics of the tree before and almost down. Was about 60ft but luckily was able to put the tops in a woodland behind. Sweat over.
  23. Got a horrible leggy dead pop overhanging a newly build shed this afternoon. I’ll let you know how that one goes [emoji17]
  24. I think all insurance company’s are on the increase. Arborisk were supposed to be giving me a discount every year but it seems it has actually increased. It was around £1200pa but it is now about £1700. I’m no expert but I’m sure that has increased and not gone down [emoji848].I have added a couple of new saws to that but I still think £500 extra is taking the mic a bit. Next year I will shop around.
