  1. Hi guys looking for and extra pair of hands on the 27/28th next week. The job is in Marlborough Wiltshire. Ideally looking for a groundy but a will take a climber. The Job is a little further out than my usual spot and I have a couple of guys off doing other things that week. It’s a pleasant enough job, nothing to technical. Give me a shout if your interested, you can pm me or text me on 07725951006. Kind Regards Eric
  2. I would certainly speak to someone from the tree firm via text or phone call. If you leave a message it may get missed no matter how obvious it is. If you actually speak to them then they know. However I’m aware that they have probably already come and gone by now.
  3. I think your right spud. Where are you based? I may well be sending it to you soon.
  4. I’ll also add the buggy leaks oil from the base somewhere like it’s going out of fashion. There is almost half a tank leaked out in to the tray I left it in after the weekend. Any common thinks to check for an chain oil leak?
  5. Right people done a little carb clean (to be honest it was pretty spotless). Saw is still being a right pain in the backside to start. You can’t even get it to a log before it cuts out. I’m just exploring options to see what people think it could be. I’m sure the list is long and eye watering but I’m happy to spend time on it to get it up and running again. I’ve got other top-handles so I’m alright but the 200t is a force that has no match and would love to keep it going. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  6. Nice one. Handy little video that. I’ll have a go this week at some point and report back. Cheers
  7. Sounds like a plan. I’ll give that a go first and see what happens. I don’t have a problem buying a new carb as long as it does the job but carb cleaner might be worth a try. Cheers
  8. My 200T has had a few issues of late and tuning it just doesn’t seem to cut it anymore. I am finding it Boggs down and cuts out if I hold the trigger right back or if I try and cut with it. I am thinking maybe just get a new carb but when I started looking I realised there were about 3 different carbs to choose from. I’ll add pics of the one in my Ms200t and see if anyone knows what one it is or if I’d be better off with a different one. I think the ones I saw were C1Q-S126A, C1Q-S32 or C1Q-S127A Thanks for any help in advance people.
  9. The woodland wasn’t owned by the people I was working for and I didn’t want to go crashing the whole tree down there. Plus there is a small wire boundary fence between the pop and the woodland.
  10. I thought if it was locked to the truck i.e with a chain and lock this would cover you? I’ll have to check my policy. It’s depressing to think that they want you to make your equipment completely unnickable meaning extra work for you meanwhile they are upping the costs and having less to payout due to lack of claims. There must come a point where people just say it’s not worth having tool insurance at all. I think maybe some sort of protest may be in order haha.
  11. Not an issue in the end. Just got up the half live stem and topped them both out. Here are the pics of the tree before and almost down. Was about 60ft but luckily was able to put the tops in a woodland behind. Sweat over.
  12. Got a horrible leggy dead pop overhanging a newly build shed this afternoon. I’ll let you know how that one goes [emoji17]
  13. I think all insurance company’s are on the increase. Arborisk were supposed to be giving me a discount every year but it seems it has actually increased. It was around £1200pa but it is now about £1700. I’m no expert but I’m sure that has increased and not gone down [emoji848].I have added a couple of new saws to that but I still think £500 extra is taking the mic a bit. Next year I will shop around.
  14. I’d leave it for the tree owner and neighbour to discuss. I would assume if the owner wants the wood and wants it stored 200m away from the tree then he or she will expect to pay something towards it. Otherwise just explained that they won’t have to pay if the timber is kept next to the tree. Most people soon think that if it will save them a couple of hundred quid they will sort it themselves.
  15. I will be looking at replacing the carb as well, so I will pull it apart when I get a new one. Either way the piston and barrel need replacing.
  16. That’s what I figured I was just struggling to see how a Trubo could give it as much grunt as a higher litre but as been mentioned it’s for the smarty pants at Toyota to figure out not a simpleton such as myself.
  17. Ah yes the dreaded DPF, I’ve heard stories. Is this specific to the Hilux? Or something that all the new adblue engines have to endure? How long does the regen take? As I thought this was supposed to happen during driving but keep hearing more and more that people are having it happen in the middle of a petrol station. Thanks for your input hopefully they will have gotten to the bottom of this corrosion issue before too long. And I think I can live without the radar do-da on the front as I’ve managed my whole driving life without ploughing into the back of someone yet (famous last words). Cheers
  18. Did I say family duties? I meant to put important business trips to picturesque surf spots around the south western coast, silly me [emoji6]. Yeah thanks for the input. Im thinking of buying new and that way getting the warranty.
  19. An old 261 ceased a few months back and it was leaking oil anyway so I brought a new one and put the old one to one side. Had the truck in to have some work done on it today so thought rather than kicking my heals let’s get that old saw apart and see what bits I need to order. I do not know how the poison ended up like this but I’m guessing some plonker has been shoving a screwdriver down thought the spark plug hole. Guess it’s a new piston and barrel then [emoji848].
  20. Just wanted to ask as I know it was brought up earlier in the thread but didn’t really get a proper answer that I’m aware of but all the new Hilux’s are 2.4L, does anyone know what they are like with towing? Going to be getting one this year at some point and it is going to be paired with a twin axle trailer for taking logs away from site and for transporting plant to sites. The reason I was looking at Hilux and a newish one is because it will be used for family holidays as well and being a car for the misses when she needs more space for certain trips. So I want something family friendly but with enough power to be a work horse. Any input would be helpful. Cheers I’m thinking either buy new and have a good warranty or buy something around the 2015-2016 mark if 2.4 doesn’t have the grunt of a 3L.
  21. Quite simply if anyone thinks they should be treated better because of their gender, race or sexuality then they are an utter idiot in my eyes. People are people. It’s not right she will probably get a year but lying about something all be it a scummy thing to do it is not rape, if she had rapped someone then I’m sure her proposed sentence would have been closer to 20 years, or at least I hope it would. Unfortunately there are people out there falsely accused of all sorts of crimes but that is just the messed up world we live in. The real issue with any of this lies in the fact that anyone of a previously suppressed group will want justice for history and rightly so but there is a line as to how far that should be taken, everyone has a different opinion about that line.
  22. I'd love to see the wind machine to test this theory on a mature beech tree. To be honest I think this makes sense but as others have said the theory is based on a young tree which needs the trunk to be supple. If I saw a trunk bending like that on a 200 year old tree I'd be running away. The only thing I will say that I find is early mentioned to customers i fear is that once you reduce that tree you will have it coming back denser and with more sail effect in 2-6 years time then you will be reducing it again. Sorry if I have missed the point I have only just scanned the article but will look at in in the week when I have a bit more time, I am quite interested.
  23. I'd say you have to look in to getting some form of accreditation such as Chas registered or safe contractor etc, as bigger contractors early give you the time of day if you don't have one or some of these. But as others have mentioned this brings on bigger headaches, more time in the office sorting out crap paperwork and bigger companies who want to employ you want the job done yesterday and will wait right up until the 3 month make to pay you. If you want to increase profits I would advertise more and possibly try and cover a slightly wider area and maybe have a small team running around doing the smaller jobs hedge trimming and small trees and the main team with you in going out to do the bigger stuff (jobs where you want to make sure everything is running smoothly). Thank way you could get away with just getting a big trailer and a small truck for the second team or if you have that or no someone who does factor them in to cost. This being said I am myself looking in to getting Chas registered but thinking do I really need the stress of bigger contracts. Just my two pence
  24. I now mix all fuel myself as I had this happen about 6 months ago. If the saw ends up knackered due to unmixed fuel, I can only blame myself. When I go out and climb for someone else I make sure I check the colour of the fuel and fuel up my own saws first thing.
