  1. Any ideas on this one? It’s probably bloody obvious to someone but I’m thinking maybe a type of sorbus. It doesn’t flower at all apparently. Also if anyone knows what it is do they know if it will take to pollarding at all? Thanks in advance
  2. Sorry to hear this Mark. Hope they catch them. Absolute scum. I’m the other side of the country but if I hear of anyone selling an old chipper with a new shoot I’ll be sure to let you know.
  3. Yeah I think I might need to get a bigger wallet. Ok great thanks for this I’ll look in to them all over the weekend.
  4. Ahh bugger. I was looking at one that looked alright but it is only 3k. Just looked at the 5k stuff and it’s all bumped up a fair bit. Ok better I find out now that to buy something that’s useless to me. Cheers
  5. Good idea. I’ve got some celotex lying around actually that would cover the area. Thanks for that.
  6. Cool I’ll check the stuff in machine mart out and any Honda engines. I’ll take a look at the silenced ones but when I looked before they seems l little too expensive for something that won’t be used constantly. I may just have to invest in some decent ear defenders and get used to that horrible rattling sound.
  7. I’m looking for a generator for general yard use, things like the air compressor the pressure washer and small power tools etc. To get electric to the yard is looking way too expensive for how much I will use it. I was looking for something relatively quiet as the noise of them does my head in especially when it’s paired with the noise of an air compressor. Also I’d like something that will take a uk 240v plug or 2. Not to bothered about cost but aiming for something around the £200-£400 mark but I will spend more if it’s worth it. Anyone got any idea of good makes/models on the market. I’ll be building a small breeze block hut to put it in with a couple of mettle doors on one side to lock it in then have some sort of vet on the back so fuels aren’t building up. Thanks people.
  8. I would assume a mog comes under forestry or horticulture. Ie not taxed but it does seem like a grey area to me
  9. I guess I just had bad luck last time then
  10. Depending on what you need they can be a nightmare to get hold of parts for ART stuff. I had to Order some clutches for my spider jack and they took 5 weeks to get shipped from Aus. It’s like they don’t stock parts for them over here. Or maybe I just got unlucky. Your best bet is to speak to your local dealer and see what they can do for you. All the best
  11. I’d say probably when you get a job that you simply can’t do with the 130. Or when it becomes such a nightmare using just a small chipper. Depends what’s in the bank and what you think is best. It’s kind of a question only you can answer.
  12. Lovely work Reg. I do quite like the euphoric soundtrack you put with that last one sounds like something from the film sunshine.
  13. I would have said a chipper is a must unless you are planning on finding a lane to dump stuff in. Can’t do many conifers without a chipper and I’d say it’s a good % of the work over here unfortunately. If I we you I’d take bens advice and freelance climb, if your good and in the right area you can get £150+ a day and not have to stress about running a business. As much as I love running my own gig it’s not as glamorous as it seems. I was in the yard this morning at 4:30 taking my chipper apart to get it working again for the jobs today. If you freelance you can always do your own small jobs on the side for friends and locals in the pub but I would say get PL and EL insurance but without uk tickets I would say it may be looking fairly expensive. If I’ve learnt anything over the past few years running my own thing its you need tickets on top of tickets and then more tickets and if your lucky you might get that job you have just got your new ticket for. Good luck
  14. That’s just plain lazy Mick
  15. Thanks John if you and spud are saying solenoid I’ll chance the £30.
  16. Hi all it’s been a week of it but I’m hoping this one is a simple fix. While chipping today the rollers got stuck open. I’ve cleaned everything out as much as I can by locking them open with the bar and taking the springs off but every time something goes through they stick open and you have to open it all up again and use the bar to push them shut. The bolts on the pivot point on were stiff as hell but I’ve managed to loosen one up but not the other. The chipper is well greased and well maintained in general but there may be something wedged down the side between the roller and the side cheek. My questions are has anybody else experienced this and if so what was the issue in the end and if I have to take the motor off and take the rollers out is it going to be much of a job? I can get in to the yard for 5 tomorrow which will give me a couple of hours to mess around with it. Thanks as always.
  17. Thanks mate. I think I'll live with it for a bit longer then. I'll put it on the ever growing list.
  18. Thanks for the replies people. I’ve gone through all the obvious and blew a compressor through the lines. No scoring on the barrel (but I’m not sure this would cause the issue). The saw starts up fine and rips through timber alright but if you leave it for a few seconds without blipping the trigger it cuts out and this gets worse the walker the saw is. To be honest I can get by with it for now but will get a solenoid as £30 isn’t going to brake the bank. I will certainly be looking at getting a husky as my next mid range ground saw. But I have a old 261 that was a great saw, still looking to get that back up and running again when I get the time.
  19. Thanks guys I’ll check it out tomorrow. Looks like they are around £30 so not to bad. There must be a reason these keep failing on this model.
  20. May be of some help
  21. Yep always the case. Going to get her on the bench now and see what I can find. It’s started pissing it down so at least I’ll be dry.
  22. Not a fan of her politics at all but still admire the no nonsense attitude. She certainly made an impact on the uk, for the worse IMO but you can’t say she didn’t work hard for her beliefs.
  23. Yeah I gave it a good clean out with an compressor. The saw was spotless this morning but still same issue. I may have to take the fuel lines out and blow them through. May have some crap in there.
  24. ?‍♂️ I bloody hope I don’t have the same issue. Yeah other than the decent power to weight the saw has been nothing but crap imo.
  25. Hi guys and gals, My MS362C keeps cutting out on idle and then to start it up again you need to put it in to full throttle and yank the pull cord. Ive been just ignoring it until now but I’ve lent my 26 to my apprentice to do his CS30/31 this week. I’ve just been cutting up a load of firewood in the yard this morning and every time I but the bloody thing down it cuts out. I’ve changed the spark over and checked the clutch springs which all seem fine. My next thought would be it’s a fuel issue and possible have the carb sorted with a computer. I’m hoping I can just do some work bench stuff to sort it as I can’t be putting it in to the shop until I get the 26 back next week. Any common issues these saws have that I should know about? Anything obvious to check? Thanks in advance
