  1. Slow to reply to the many, many excellent replies and tips on good gloves! You lot really are an impressive resource of knowledge, should be chargeable! I'm going to take some time and read all the replies and will feedback on what decision I make 👍🏼🙂
  2. Oh, and make sure your PPE is on the right way round too 🤣
  3. Get that thumb wrapped, no excuses! I’ve berated a few folk for this over the years.
  4. We’ve woken up to some snow here in North Yorkshire!
  5. I should have said, these are exclusively for operating the machine. There'll be no saw work or moving brash etc. The issue with the Logbullet is there isn't a cab as such so my hands are just out getting piss wet through all day. Sealskinz seem to be available in any colour you like, as long as it's black 😂🙈
  6. My poor little trotters have endured nearly 3 years of the finest weather North Yorkshire can throw at them, but I’ll admit defeat and say the time has come for some decent waterproof gloves. I usually use multiple pairs of cheap, thin gloves throughout the day that offer zero waterproofing. Most folks seems to say go for Sealskinz, but before I pull the trigger on a pair I’d better do my Arbtalk research. Main things I need are…. A. Waterproof! B. Finger dexterity isn’t compromised so I can still press the buttons without an Incredible Hulk style rage descending. C. Ideally a bright colour so when I invariably drop them, I can see the dam things. Orange would be good!
  7. @spudulikeseemed to have this far matey!
  8. Parts all arrived from the USA! Top recommendation there @Moose McAlpinemany thanks indeed!
  9. Ah yes, windblown sites create the rare and unique thing known as comptension 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️
  10. I wish I’d never commented on this topic….. mine has started playing up now! 🤦🏼‍♂️
  11. My 550 has recently started doing exactly this. I was running a Sugi 18 inch bar but swapped it to a Tsumura one and it seems to have sorted it for now. To be fair, mines been hammered in forestry for 18 months, it's doing well otherwise.
  12. Just checked, manufacturer says Dewalt 899 is fine. Result!
  13. I love it when something unexpectedly happens! So, I've managed to land myself an ex demo BasTing fellig wedge, complete with a few spares for a very nice price. So my question for all you folks now is about what impact driver to go for.... I run DeWalt for all my battery powered gear, so have a raft of batteries I could use. Most folk opt for Milwaukee, and I totally understand why. But could I get away with a beefier DeWalt offering perhaps? https://www.amazon.co.uk/DeWalt-DCF899N-XJ-DCF899N-Cordless-Brushless/dp/B00VXN7TUW/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?c=ts&keywords=Impact+Wrenches&qid=1643454523&refinements=p_89%3ADEWALT&s=diy&sr=1-2&ts_id=1939351031
  14. We bit of a thread revival..... Anything new to add on thoughts and experiences of mechanical felling wedges? Definitely considering one to keep in the truck for occasional use. The Logbullets have 600kg pull winch on them which is useful but only as a bit of assistance on leaners. Wondering if combing that with the mechanical wedges might be a good solution? A mate is kindly lending me his Eder 1800 power winch next week, so might spunk my hard earned cash on one of those instead.
  15. I just bought a 200L drum of Motomix for £400+vat, so £2 a litre.
  16. Thanks Moose. Order arrived from L&S yesterday, so will look at swapping switch over soon on the 390. Got new chain brake handles to fit to 550 & 555 first as they're slightly more pressing!
  17. Cheers Moose. Kit ordered 👌🏼
  18. Colm Champ on Instagram, check him out. Arb Fiction do the ones you linked too I think, but you might know that all ready.
  19. Cheers @adw, I’ll get those caps ordered 👍🏻 Thanks @Moose McAlpine those dawgs look like they’ll do the part perfectly. Did they bolt straight on, or did you have to buy the wider clutch cover to accommodate them? The diagram on L&S shows a few separate parts that need ordered.
  20. Evening all, I’ve heard tale of being able to swap the ‘off switch’ on my 390 for an auto return one, possibly the same fitment as the one on a 540 top handle perhaps? Also, I’m after some new fuel and oil caps, the newer style ones with the flip out twist part. Does anyone know which model I could order that would the 390? Lastly, I’m after some bigger felling dawgs for my 572. Are the ones from Husky decent enough or any other top tips? I’m looking at you @outinthewood for some top tips! 😁 Just putting an order together for L&S, may as well get a few bits at the same time. Thanks in advance.
  21. I went to Riga on a stag do, so a lot of my memories are blurry. Especially as we stayed in a hostel type of affair, where the ladies who served you breakfast would then take their clothes off in the evening for money 🙀 We went in February, and as has been mentioned, wrap up warm. It was cold, and now whenever anyone says “it’s Baltic” I ask them if they’ve been to Riga in February before?! I do recall the Old Town was indeed marvellous. Lots of little eateries and coffee houses etc. I had probably the best steak I’ve ever had in my life there. Can’t remember where, but it was dam good!
  22. Picking up some sticks on a nice flat site near Helmsley, after a recommendation from @bigtreedon Cheers bud!
  23. I can live with it 😃
  24. I'm running Sugi, Tsumura and GB bars, in a variety of bar lengths. I'm a bit like Matty in my Sugi opinion. I'm using a 15 on my 550 currently though and it's holding up well. The Tsumura lost all its colouring very fast, and I managed to take a chunk out the bar quite easily which was disappointing. It's languishing in the back of the truck. I have a 28 inch GB on my 390, and it's a thing of beauty 😍 All I can conclusively say, is I always ditch my standard Husqvarna bars for some aftermarket one. Maybe I'm being hasty?!
  25. As the old saying goes..... Cheap labour isn't good, and good labour isn't cheap.
