    254xp bar

The 13" bar on my 254 is shot and needs replacing i'm mostly using it to cut softwood saw logs in half and am getting frustrated by having to constantly cut from both sides so was wondering what is the longest bar this saw can practically handle? Also i use it 1-2 times a month is a better quality bar worth the extra cost or are the benefits mostly longer service life? many thanks
