  1. Hi i did my cs 30/31 as an add on to a countryside and environmental course the countryside & eviromental tutor got his facts wrong and told us the blue nptc book proved that we had done the course but we could send off for a credit card picture id if we wanted to! being young i didn't think to read the book! i'm now considering doing further tests due to a job change and have read the book only to discover that i needed to send it off for my certs will it still count? I did the course in 1997 18 years ago and the photos although signed by the assessor are of me back then!
  2. I would like to start climbing, recreational to start with but with the hope to expand and get my tickets later but i was wondering how much i'd need for a starter set up? and whether its better to pay more now as i expect things like a cheap harness will need replacing sooner than a good one?
  3. I can't seam to find any pics of a rico a9 like you describe is it basically the same as the bigger horizontal machines?
  4. Hi there i have a stratford eco 9he woodburner and burn 99% softwood as its free cut from the timber too twisted to be any use in the mill but can only get 8 hour max when shut down over night and was wondering if hardwood would last longer?
  5. funny i wouldn't of done it on principle would of quite happily of sharpened it every time it got blunt but cant stand the deliberate blunting of any cutting edge!
  6. personally i use a sharpened clay spade on the breaker but obviously need a breaker
  7. Hi there was just wondering what the pro's and cons are of a curved blade over a straight blade and vice versa or whether its just down to personal preference?
  8. I read something a few years ago that the human race had exceeded critical mass therefore one child per person would still cause the population to grow! So the problem is not one for the future but now but no one wants to admit it!
  9. A bit off topic but how rough are the paths usually at the show as would like to go but am having an acl reconstruction 2 weeks before and dont want to trash it again!
  10. that and some nice big end shells that dont last! had my big end done at at about 80k high speck bolts and old type shells put in cost £500 but cheaper than the risk of blown engine! the old shells looked more like they had done 200k!(think the bolts where the same part as from the petrol engine and not upto the strain so snapped from big end vibration before it could be heard! and no3 had a problem from oil starvation so the shells wear quicker!)or so im lead to believe
  11. As in i can use it i don't want to waist time making something that is of no use at all! If i can bbq a few bits for myself and family thats good enough for me!
  12. Ok im thinking of giving this a try but have a few questions! 1) can i make usable charcoal from softwood as i have a load of dry off cut 4 x 2 from gate making? 2) i understand how the double barrel method works as your using a gravity 1 way valve to let out burnable gas but not letting oxygen/fire in but how do you achieve this with the horizontal barrel method? 3) is there a reason why you couldn't make one square rather than round as i think we have a load of tanks and plate at work that are spare?
