  3. Hi there grapple fans! Just his me from the oak felling job What a yoke, as we say in coulterfanny. Was late getting started, denzil had to take his pal Andy, all he did was smoke and eat everybody's lunch, that was before 10 am. Anyway that oaks were bloody hard on the hacksaw blades, I snapped two, So then I thought let as get Barney, ( the beaver on the job). Well , sweet baby Jesus and the orphans. He went through the timber like clap through a brothel, Must be the way I've sharpened his teeth used a 5' 32 file, made a top job. There was a bit of a to do, when we stopped for lunch and Barney wasn't happy with his kipper sandwiches, and took a fancy to the neighbours hit and miss fence, well he left nothing not even the nails, then not content with that for pudding he demolished the boys firewood stack, mind you it was poor quality, supplied by scotlogs, he scoured most of it out, and the nails from the fence too. He was shaking like a dog s###ing bones. Then he spotted the woman's cat who was only on bloody heat, God what a polava, I've seen less sexual pestering at the BBC, Anyway and I finally trapped him after he was trying to mate with the water pump. And when I finally got the ratchet straps back on him and on the back of the mobility scooter, he gave ma grin the kind that rapists do. So we knocked off for the day, all the oaks are down, and I will have to get more hacksaw blades. Tomorrow i will have a day off, well.Just a job to price for the local bike, she's had more rides than Lester Piggot, she says she has a Bush she wants seen too. Speak to you later, Oh looking to buy some gear, anyone got a good mower, the old Flymo has seen better days, the flex has been taped more than a hostage in Beirut,
  4. Fieldfencer, my old mucker, that's the same job Christ man, that price you charged bloody rip.off, I'm just go I g to.take the loppers to the cables , problem solved and those red kites or whatever they are , a drop of strickening will get rid of them ,
  5. Biggarlogs, I don't care if you've the biggest bloody logs, I'm not going critter away £80 on rubbish huskvarnish, saws, Ill stick to the ryobi, mitox and mcculloch gear thank you very much, Anyway ill have a job getting to Perth on my grandfather mobility scooter, it's not charged up yet and there's an indicator broken, and you know what that Tayside police are like on the A90.
  6. 7What a helpful bunch! I'm just back from the coulterfanny( for all you English folk it's pronounced kooter- with a fanny next). Bowling green, . Bloody bell grass is short there, when I drove on with the wife's tata ( I've a shot of it unit t be nivas back on the road) You could see the wire mark from the tyres on the grass, Anyway I reckon the strimmer cord will get very hard treatment from always striking the ground, So us fencers we are a practical bunch, I've replaced the cord with barbed wire that's harder wearing and should make a tidy job, Well I'm thinking it may take a while to do the job and I've too many jobs on so to save time I've taken my niece's rabbits down to graze it they'll make short work, Oh and you'll like this as I drove on I noticed a terrible Drop onto the grass, well it turns out some cowboy has dug a ditch right around the bloody thing and not backfilled, well I've denzils best friend, Andy, arranged with a tractor and dumper cart full of pea shingle, and a length of flexibility coil pipe, so we'll fill.that in too, broke the engine mounting of the tata when I hit it.
  7. Shane, unfortunately Colin can't do the rolling of your driveway, his tag dictates he can't go near schools, or people houses and has a 7 pm.curfew, Anyway I'm going to buy a new chainsaw with the money from the job this weekend, not your usual huskvarnish or sihll rubbish, I'm going to blow it all on a ryobi, then once I buy I'm I can call myself a tree surgeon, as it appears the only qualification required is to have once done a days gardening, ( and I used to have a window box outside my flat) and own a chainsaw.
  8. Shane, i'll put you on my list, ive a good guy who goes on the roller for me his name is Colin Donkeypaddock, Just be sure and not leave any full tins of beer lying around, he also has a very strange fetish, involving women lying face down in ditches with paint tins rammed in a very uncomfortable place, apart form that he's a harmless fellow,
  9. never thought to check about the extensive cable forn the shredder, ill get Denzil on the case , after hes finished taking his medication, 6you guys on here are so friendly and helpful as for kitchen blender, do you think im stupid? i know its not for that you dummy!
  10. Well it never rains but it pours! My motor ( a lada niva, cossack pick-up 3 wheel drive ) has failed its mot, But fear not, my dad says we can use his mobility scooter and hook a shopping trolley on the two bar, so we are set again, Denzil, the guy helping me I told you about, is going to take baler twine, to tie to the limbs to pull them down. And I don't have a harness, so ill just use my sons car seat, I couldn't remove the straps so I'll just tie the whole thing on my back with cable ties, I really don't see how all those other supposedly professional tree surgeon s get away with charging so much. Everyone in the village I stay in ( coulterfanny) thanks the same, Got to go and price for maintaining the local bowling greens.
  11. Cheers for the great advice, I'm doing the job this weekend. I've roped in my neighbours nephew to help. He is a great lad, hasn't let the fact he only has one arm( lost it whilst cutting firewood and he took a fit), and walks with a limp after his ferret bit him, bother him, He never complains but with his cleft lip, his lisp and his braces on his teeth, he's not great to understand at the best of times, Already got other jobs lined up, this tree surgeon caper looks easy think i will go into it full time. I will report back on Monday let you know how I get on.
  12. Thanks for the advice I've charged around £20 per tree is that too much,
  13. Should I bring along my pet beaver to speed the job up a bit. I should say I will make sure he has a hi viz jacket too.
  14. Need some advice, I've taken on a job to remov 12 aged oak trees, Now I've never cut a tree before but I do own a lumberjack shirt, And have access to a hacksaw, and garden shredder I also have a very fetching hi viz vest which I trust will suffice for health and safety.
  15. Is that including materials?
  16. I'm just back from using one , I am very impressed, doesn't get long stuff wrapped around head, very easy to reload line, The one I used wasn't self propelled that would be great.
  17. Guy Martin as interesting as the Hungarian grand prix.
  18. My spec would be bottom line, rylock c/w centre line , and top line, then two top barbed lines, posts 2 or 3 mtrs spacing, labour £2.80 per mtr, labour . Add around £2.-£2.50 for materials.
  19. Anyone seen or used the bresser heads and lines yet, if so how are they to use.
  20. Anyone know of stockists for Toro mower blades, I heard they are now owned by halter.
  21. Toro commercial recycler,
  22. Just back from two days clearing grass and weeds from sheep pens to be used for three sales later this year, Some of the stuff, wa three foot high, dockings, grass, cow parsley, wire herb, thick in the pens, The guy helping me had a husky brushcutter, I used my Toro mower , and it was amazing, could believe how it performed if you tipped the front up, and kept it in 1st gear, it handled it superbly I can t believe how good that machine is,
  23. Husky 455.
  24. So what chain should be on it, it's an Oregon 95 vpx bar,
  25. I bought a new chain for my rancher 18 inch saw, The current chain is a 91, The one I bought is a vp95 will this be suitable for the Oregon bar I have on it What is the difference in the two chains.
