  1. Can't see the bark! But form is robinia(ish)
  2. Robinia, need a pic of tree really.
  3. Ha ha, dead right. I had a plate, but sold it for one reason or another. I must say I don't like those contrived ones where they alter it a little bit to fit. (Like that)
  4. I would say that is the reverse of hogwash, pretty straight talking if you ask me. If they cut the tax on aspen etc it must be raised elsewhere. Not going to happen.
  5. There's always exceptions, for suitable read preferable.
  6. I disagree, there is a suitable age. Over 23 or so (depending on ones youthful belief on immortality) and under 35 (giving you enough time to build up some skill before age limits your physicality)
  7. Wow I can understand your annoyance. mines been snapped on my ifor Williams for over a decade, I really must sort that out.
  8. 50 quid if it runs well.
  9. Happy days! Ally box is a bonus.
  10. Ok, I get you now, Agreed. Personally I wouldn't start at 40. Get someone else to do it.
  11. Occasional landscape climber 40s ?????? If you want to scramble about ringing bells at the of branches against the clock then fine. It's all well and good but when it come down to judging rigging big lumps, managing the work so the groundsmen are neither overloaded or standing there, and not killing yourself or the guys on the ground experience and ability are key, if your 25 or 55.
  12. I believe that is nonsense.
  13. They're both very good saws, you won't reget buying either.
  14. No Johnny they FIXED it.
  15. Just get a 150, still under 750kg and you loved the one you hired. There'll be a lot of decent used ones about as a lot of people are upgrading to the 230.
  16. Probably yes.
  17. Also Hodge. you're on another thread telling a guy to move a crap saw on eBay. Presumably you'll advise him to tell the buyer that it's crap.
  18. Caveat emptor, always been like that, always will.
  19. Take it to a repair shop. TBF you've had 6 days to fix it. It shouldn't be too pricey.
  20. I recently bought a 395 picked it up on a Saturday evening, Sunday it would not bloody start, they were shut Monday so Tuesday afternoon after work I took it out of the workshop ready to take it back, thought I'd try it and with a few pulls it went! It's ok now. Maybe it's an auto tune thing.
  21. Great work on the riverbank Mathew.
  22. If in doubt just use a bucket of hot soapy water and a sponge. That should do it.
  23. Sure I service the vehicles, change oil and filters regularly. Change tyres and brake pads. Do any of those need doing on a chainsaw? Clean air filter, have a look at the plug if it misses. Spud, don't get me wrong I'm aware you've forgotten more about saws than I've ever known. But (speaking to climbers) if after two years you cannot afford to update a topper, and you have to make do with an old one, you're pricing is way off.
  24. Yeah understood, but a reputation for being expensive can weed out the time wasters.
