1. That tree doesn't look like it will last much longer.
2. Here's my take. What can you save by going further away/online, 50 quid ? Maybe more. How much can you charge for a days tree surgery.500 quid? If you buy locally then when you're in a pinch they'll fix it on the spot or give you a loaner to get the job done, and put the bill in. Go local, it pays in the end.
3. Isn't it just a car version of the navarra? In which case it'll be good.
4. I know, you've got to laugh. As an aside I doubt very much if 6 mature limes could be felled in any town without the TO knowing about it.
5. So did these "contractors" do the job without permission?
6. If you didn't want to do it fair enough. Thing is every day we do do things that give us the heebies or go against our instincts. Even hanging off a rope into space at height still clenches my guts after 25 years. You'll get plenty of support on here, but none of them pay your wages.
7. There are some Cowboys on here...... Yeeehaaaaa Seriously though, Get yourself a hobby rather than grassing up people. Then boasting about it on here.
8. For me an urban lime like that is better off hatracked, no point mucking around going back to live growth, it's going to throw out like a nutter whatever you do. if "hat racked" offends people substitute "late high pollard cycle commencement" or something
9. Good shout, but in all honesty I didn't need studies to tell me that.
10.

Hi Tom, I've got second hand 220 being looked at by my brother, who's savvy with tractors, he said it seems straight but when engaging the clutch it nearly stalls the engine.

Now I remember on my old Tracked Arbor Eater that happened as well, wasn't an issue you just had it on tick over and eased it in.

My question is, is this normal? Otherwise It looks pretty good according to him.

Thanks in advance.

11. Seen it before, just got back from work so I'll watch it on +1 with a cuppa before the wife gets in!
12. I don't mind selling good quality, well maintained stuff cos you can hold the whip hand, selling unwanted old bangers is hard though.
13. Single cab, more room for chip.logs etc
14. I like reading the comments under the article.
15. All very impressive, great combo of grab and chipper. I do hope you checked every tree for pigeon nests though:biggrin:
16. No you started the thread to warn others and let off some steam. In fairness CTS has pointed out ways that it could have been avoided, which perhaps is more useful to the rest of us than the usual sympathy/slagging off travellers vibe. I've been stiffed as well, It doesn't feel good.
17. I have been, different circumstances. Too boring to go into. With hindsight I was desperate for work and ignored my inner voice. Like you I only lost costs for two days. Rite of passage.
18. I would say your spidey sense should have been telling you something early on.
19. Photos?
20. If you buy a TW, first make sure the stress control works, and if it doesn't make sure that you don't get fobbed off with "it only needs a small cheap thing to fix it" If you can, remove the three drive belts behind the flywheel (easy job to do and easy to put back, just a 19 mm and 12mm socket) then spin the wheel, it should run smooth and even without any noise. This will give you a true idea of the bearings.
21. Love this thread. Keep posting!
22. Ill call them on Monday, Thanks again. 700 hrs is not too much on a bigger unit like that.
23. My situation ATM is I have free tipping of chip. Wood is a problem. Doing a lot of spruce, cedar etc.
24. Where's that? I'm usually averse to second hand stuff, but that's tempting.
25. Thing is once you break past 750kg you might as well blast past.
