  1. I think Corbyn and the UN would prefer it if Israel adopted the "tea and biscuits" approach previously mentioned on here. [emoji849] Timon.
  2. Be nice if Arb equipment thefts had an 8 min response time! Timon.
  3. I'm with you on that Felix. The main thrust of my position in this debate though, is that I don't believe that Islam, right at its heart, is a peaceful ideology. Before we can find a realistic solution to this problem we need our politicians to ask the hard questions. Just saying that most Muslims are peaceful, while true in most cases, doesn't address the root of the problem. Until we ask the hard questions, all we will be doing is papering over the cracks. [emoji846] Timon.
  4. Totally get your point. However, (I do study, and teach basic Christian theology though so I have a fair idea what I'm talking about) Abu Bakar Al Bagdadi is a leader of a (growing) world religion too. I'd prefer to listen to/debate people on this forum than him to be honest! [emoji846] Timon.
  5. Well, for starters the I don't hold to the same world view as him. Secondly I didn't realise he was a Muslim scholar. Thirdly, I'm not sure what your point is? My understanding of the nitty gritty issue of fundamentalist Islam is that it's founder was among other things a very violent man and the Koran teaches that all of the world must be subjugated under Islamic rule and law. That is Islam's primary goal and purpose. It's very different to Christianity. That was what I was trying to point out to graham. Thanks Timon.
  6. Morning Graham. Couldn't let this one go. There are very few passages in the Bible where God commands his people to kill and where he did it was for a very specific time and purpose. The over arching theme of the Bible is that we as flawed people (Genesis 3) should stop killing each other and instead love our neighbours as ourselves(Matt 4,5,6). Anyone who really believes that God somehow enjoys or needs us to kill on his behalf has a very distorted take on it. It also teaches that his kingdom (heaven) is an eternal perfect place. This world is temporary and will at some point pass away, therefore we don't need to conquer, spread his rule and law by coercion or violence (which is what Islam teaches) My point is that all religions don't teach the same thing and lumping them all together shows a very uninformed way of looking at it. [emoji106][emoji846] Just wanted to say.. Shalom Timon.
  7. Nah! We only play British Bulldog here [emoji190] Timon.
  8. Hi Steve. Id like to help if possible Thanks Timon.
  9. Nice one Steve! [emoji106] Timon.
  10. Customer wanted this oak removing. Lots of squirrel damage. Talked him into leaving the stem as a monolith. Some light rigging and my anchor was above a lot of the damage so I was a bit twitchy in it. I am fast learning that trees are (hopefully) a lot stronger than we sometimes think. [emoji106] Timon.
  11. Any pics? What's it like in the tree? Timon.
  12. Wasn't she one of the the Peru 2? Timon.
  13. There is a fundamental truth that few in government are willing to grasp or admit to. The call to Jihad and territorial expansion including Islamic rule of law (shariah) are inextricable from Islamic ideology and theology. Islam in its basic form is Not a religion of peace, love and tolerance despite what people try to tell us [emoji107] Timon.
  14. I had a mk3 with a tipping chip box. Really excellent truck. Mine got nicked so make sure you get extra security for it. Timon.
  15. Every week almost when the Russians test our airspace. (Ok. Strictly speaking it's the RAF). Timon.
  16. I had to bin a TM after 3 years climbing. The webbing wore away where it passes through the lower D's. It could be avoided by periodically making slight adjustments to the length of the straps so that the friction gets spread about a bit. But still disappointing from a "top end of the market" harness. Timon.
  17. That's right. The last person to enter the Houses of Parliament with a clear cut, honest agenda was Guy Fawkes. Timon.
  18. I don't believe for one nano second that he really does condemn ALL terrorism. It seems like acts of terror are the currency used to get an invite to sit at his table. His inaction to address the problems of anti Semitism in his party spoke volumes. I don't believe we are seeing the "real" Corbyn at this campaign, what we are seeing is his "public representative" facade. I wouldn't trust him. Timon.
  19. What about his friendship with Hamas and Hezbollah? Are they the kind of people we want to have open dialogue with as well? Timon.
  20. I WON'T offer any guarantees if we have to drag out through the house. I show them how to tape up the vulnerable edges and surfaces with cardboard and promise to be careful but the risk is theirs. Timon.
  21. Common ground....,at last!!!! I knew we'd find it sooner or later. [emoji106] Timon.
  22. Handy looking tool that, Mick. [emoji106] Timon.
  23. By the time this stuff comes out we should be able to "Bluetooth" the battery power to the saws [emoji41] Timon.
  24. Thanks Mick. [emoji106] Timon.
  25. Watched a bit of the debate earlier. No one seemed to have any thing of any real value to say or be able to get a word in edge ways. Bashing Nuttall made for a good diversionary tactic. Our society has some very profound problems which no one seems to have any real answers to. It really is a case of finding the least worst choice. (Nice weevil reference MrJ) I don't like the rise of religious extremism but I don't want to be ruled by a xenophobic. I hate that elderly people can't afford to turn their heating on in the winter but I know that the country has to balance the books. I feel privileged to have the NHS but can see that it needs to be reformed. Who could we trust to do that without cocking it up or worse still turning into a gravy train for their mates? Then there is the small matter of stewarding our armed forces and the defence of our nation..... I'm sorry but there's no way I would trust Corbyn and Abbot with that. As much as I don't like the Tories (I grew up in the South Wales valleys and my stepdad was a miner during the pit closures) I still think they are the safest bet. Timon.
