  2. Excellent post. But, if you had to do something... you know, if you were compelled to....? ?
  3. Not an easy one for sure, but should we continue rolling over and letting him have his way.... Hit him where it hurts, financially. But do it so that it’s his mates that are getting squeezed. Do it with ruthlessness and in such a way that they start to get seriously disgruntled, then disunity sets in and his power base gets weakened. Putin isn’t an idealist, he’s just a gangster at the end of the day. Granted a pretty exceptional one but the bottom line is it’s all about money for him and his firm. The ordinary Russians love him because he’s “making Russia great again”. Start turning the screws on Iran. Start weakening his hold on Syria, making it harder for him to dock his ships in warm water ports. A bit of reciprocal cyber aggression. He’s not going to go away but us and the rest of the world are letting him get away with murder.
  4. Cmon Mark... Russia would never claim responsibility. Putin seems to take great pleasure in taking the p***roverbial. Like the ‘unidentifiable’ troops in the Ukraine and The airliner that got blown out of the sky by a Russian SAM. How much proof do you need? Maybe the best way to play him at his own game should be done through the one thing that Russia really values in Britain.... the financial market. Skilfully applied freezing of the financial assets and properties held in the UK by his closest associates would be a good start. Make his closest friends feel the pain by hitting them hard in the pocket. Even in the unlikely event that he had nothing to do with it, he’s still due a straightener.
  5. Yer, the only way we could use the World Cup to punish the Russians would be by actually winning it.. looks like its plan B then.
  6. Sadly, Britain has been effectively castrated on the world stage the last 8 years by choosing to follow and align ourselves with Obama’s impotent foreign policies. (Ukraine, Syria, Iran, North Korea. etc) Putin is a very shrewd player, he’s sending his Political opponents and dissidents a clear message and also, more to the point, he’s blatantly taking the Mick out of the British Government because he knows that we are so far on the back foot now. This will be a stiff test of May’s leadership, will be interesting to see how she responds and whether Europe and the US will follow suit. (Maybe they could all project the Union Jack on their prominent landmarks like they do with terrorist attacks)

    Jokes???

That’s Wicked! Apparently someone’s level of maturity can be judged by what kind of jokes they will laugh at..... I’m obviously not as far on as I thought I was, said wiping up spat out coffee. [emoji41][emoji33]
  8. Usually all this stuff (qualifications etc.) will be in the small print of a policy. Insurance is a competitive industry, they aren’t going to put obstacles in their own way of getting your money. In the event of big claim, when something goes wrong, you can bet that the insurance companies loss adjuster will be checking all of these things out. In the event of something going wrong where damage to property and personal injury are involved, anyone who has taken out an insurance policy and not held up their end by way of proper training, RAMS, LOLER etc..etc.. could find that they have been living in a fools paradise thinking they are insured. Same as a householder not doing his due diligence in checking who he is contracting to do the work. Buyer beware.
  9. Stumps were a bit high as well. TCD wouldn’t have approved!
  10. We faced the same choice and although most of our saws are husky’s we opted for the 880 on a 30” bar. If you are doing domestic work in this country most large diameter timber is likely to be hardwood oak, ash, beech etc. The 880 delivers more torque lower down the Rev range which tends to be more suited to hardwoods. (IMO).
  11. I’ve gone out there a couple of times to work. It doesn’t seem like there is an Arb industry to speak of. Certainly nothing like we have here. Hope it works out for you. [emoji106]
  12. Mark. Hope you’re healing up ok. Please pm or send me pics of your items for sale. I may be in the market for something [emoji41] (if I can persuade the mrs we NEED it). [email protected]
  13. Or migrants.
  14. Nice to see old trees being well managed like that.
  15. Bet the hand-sawing helped to keep you warm.
  16. We still have TO’s working in %’s round here. Be interesting to know the full story behind what happened.
  17. Nice, although I prefer this one from the city of peace and reconciliation.
  18. Tachyon for my mainline with a ZZ. Love it.
  19. I very much doubt it!
  20. Please accept my apologies then. I really enjoy these intelligent([emoji3]) debates and it really isn’t my heart to twist your words or arguments. I just need you to understand that I am right!!!! ??
  21. I don’t understand you sometimes VI... You criticise belief in an intelligent design origin to the universe and you call it myth and superstition. We need to meet up in person so we can have a proper punch up! [emoji856]
  22. I’ve never got on particularly well with the supplied Petzl stuff, although it’s quite firm it doesn’t seem to be very durable. I’ve been through two so far. I spoke with the Petzl rep about using other rope brands with the Zillon and he said Petzl don’t recommend it (!?!) the replacement rope is very expensive. I use a Marlow gecko split tail with mine and it’s perfectly fine (obviously) It doesn’t come with a rope diameter rating on the device itself (like the ZZ at 11.5 - 13mm).
  23. And yet, you use exactly the same arguments and yardstick to try and refute opposing worldviews and push your own views. That’s hypocrisy. If all you can do is resort to referring to the Taliban etc..to ‘prove’ that all belief in a spiritual component to human existence is bad, then why can’t I use the aforementioned nations to demonstrate the deficiencies of atheist ideals.? The simple facts are that mankind is clearly not evolving better morals by embracing atheistic beliefs as time goes by... and... Nations governed with atheist ideals have never fared any better than the rest of mankind. In fact, the opposite seems to be true. I’m going to leave it there now and wish you a nice weekend. [emoji41][emoji8]
  24. No,no, no! VI, The 20th C was by far the bloodiest century of all. Fact. The most brutally repressive regimes recently in the world have tended to be the atheist ones. N.Korea, Russia. China, Cambodia. FACT. A strange result from “scientific reason and enlightenment” wouldn’t you say?
