  1. Used to happen on machines I've driven. As long as you have the right key they can be over-ridden. If you're on site the safety officer will keep them. If he won't give the key over then a quiet chat with the site manager usually sorts it out. Targets, deadlines, penalty clauses etc....
  2. Raleigh bomber. You could peel the plastic coating off and it was chrome underneath. Or how about the Chopper sprint?
  3. Very versatile type of machine. I've never operated that particular model of manitou but I have tested the equivalent matbro model. I was surprised how manoeuvrable it was and I liked how the load could be shifted from side to side using the steering. Manitou's are really well built machines and very user friendly. Sounds like you've made a good purchase.

  6. A couple of shots of the end of a big conifer clearance/ dismantle today. Been back and forward on this job due to the weather. 11 trees altogether. Really glad to have got the last one done.
  7. You'll end up doing a spell on community service the way you're going.

  14. We used to do the grass in a big churchyard in Derbyshire. Mowing, strimming and a bit of hedge work. Didn't pay great but we got a fair bit of other work through it. We used it to train the guys how to operate grass cutting equipment etc.., it came in handy for that and the people in the church were a really nice bunch. Once the guys had given it a couple of cuts they were very competent.
  15. Half a mog full left to clear tomorrow.
  16. Unusual job..., customers relative had felled 16 x 30ft conifers with an AXE! and cross stacked them and left them for someone else to clear up... In this case.... Us. Stinking job.
  17. I watched the spiderjackery videos and it certainly looked incredible. I tried one a frame at the APF it felt nice and responsive and I liked the thumb brake. It's just that I wasn't convinced that it would suit a lot of the work that I do..... ( eg Lots of stinking conifers☺️)
  18. A great book to get is The Fundamentals of General Treework by Gerald F Beranek. It's got masses of great info in there.
  19. Regular strip downs with a thorough clean would be essential I think. I nearly bought the 2.1 but went with the ZZ in the end. Looking forward to reading the reviews and feedback on it. Wonder how it would perform in dense conifer removals.
  20. Wow! Quarter of a grand for a friction device... It does look amazing though. Does it come with its own display case?
