  1. The third world would want to live in the UK no matter how many children we had....
  2. who knows, one day we might even be Facebook friends!!
  3. Tbh, I think the Brexit referendum was people asking politely for things to change and the needs of native Brits to be respected. If Brexit isn't delivered I can see people swinging from lamp posts.
  4. Tbh, I cant see the EU agreeing to a deal that is "fair". Each of the 27 remaining EU countries can veto a deal. The chances of each country agreeing to a deal is remote. I just hope we go hard Brexit....
  5. Theresa May is going to send a letter saying that EU migrants already in the UK are welcome to stay after Brexit I was hoping after brexit we'd be able to deport all the East European Big Issue sellers that clog our high streets. We hear all the time that there are cutbacks to public services due to austerity. We also hear the NHS is at breaking point. Yet we have billions to spend looking after migrants that pay virtually nothing in tax.... If it was me I'd stop benefits for all EU migrants...
  6. tbh, I don't really see a problem with putting cheap tyres on a family runabout... I have to admit that I feel uneasy about threads that are basically just advertising...
  7. Tattoos don't really bother me. I'd just hope no guys here gets a "tramp stamp" though...
  8. A lot of construction jobs have drugs testing for anyone going to a site induction (ie everyone). Then there is random drugs testing. I have to admit that some of the guys on site really should be taking performance enhancing drugs though...
  9. tbh, looking at the photograph of your pine I'd be exceptionally surprised if you got any money for it at all.... I'd imagine you'd have to pay to have someone take the pine away. I'd guess it's Scots Pine? From what I understand they are normally harvested at 100 plus years. Also harvesting 15 acres isn't really economic... How much are they wanting for it? (don't say if you don't want to)
  10. I assume there was some quantum change in technology - maybe airbags. I'd also think driver behaviour has made an impact, there is less drink driving now...
  11. Regarding cameras. I got a Nissan Navara to drive at work. When I got it there was a fair few scrapes on it so I took some pics of the damage. Someone had his car pranged in the work car park and the CCTV showed it was a Navara that had done it. One Monday I went into work and I was told "we placed your Navara against the damaged car and all the scrapes are at the same level. It was you that damaged the car and drove off. I hope you admit it before the police are called". Luckily the pics I had showed there was no fresh damage and it hadn't been me. If I hadn't taken the photos I would have been in a sticky situation. I honestly think anyone spending a lot of time should have a camera recording everything.
  12. Better road design. Cars with more safety features. Better emergency healthcare.
  13. I put spare money into my pension. If you put in money the Government adds on 25%... not a bad risk free return... If you pay income tax at 40% you can also reduce your income tax bill in addition to the 25% "free" money.
  14. I don't know about the timber but seemingly mulberry leaves are good food for aquarium shrimp... could be an OK ebay sideline for someone...
  15. A lot of the Bremoaners went on about the Human Rights that the EU gave us. Spain is in the EU. Here is a photograph of the Spanish riot police dispensing some "Human Rights" in Catalonia. Where exactly is the EU when the Spanish state is firing rubber bullets at peaceful crowds?
  16. Yeah Mark, I know what you mean. However just a few weeks ago there was some plonker on this very thread saying that he had the right to hit people if he disagreed with them.... Oh, that's right, it was you!
  17. So Boris says something about dead bodies in Libya and he's getting labelled an arsehole? We've all said stuff that in the cold light of day is unfunny... Maybe we should give the guy a break...
  18. How about getting a workshop stove?
  19. Sometimes laws do contradict each other. When this happens it's really up to a judge to decide on the merits of each individual case.
  20. Duty of care is judged by what a reasonable person would think. If a tree surgeon leaves a tree in a perilous state and the tree falls down I think a reasonable person would consider the tree surgeon negligent. Even if the tree surgeon told the neighbour it was dangerous it doesn't make up for the tree surgeon being negligent. I dont think you can have a duty of care towards yourself. Using an extreme example. Say a tree surgeon cuts the limbs off a tree next to a school playground. The tree surgeon tells the school the tree is dangerous. A half hour later the tree falls and kills some kids. You think the tree surgeon has a leg to stand on?
  21. I'm not a lawyer. However I believe a landowner (and his tree surgeon) would owe his neighbour a duty of care if he started cutting overhanging branches. If he left the tree in such a state that it was liable to fall down it could open them up to possible litigation. I think a judge would accept that occasionally trees get blown over. However if someone has left a tree in such a state that it's lop sided and it falls over it's negligence Imho....
  22. tbh, I cant help thinking that the only way to do this properly is just remove the wrinkly tin and replace with insulated cladding/ roofing.
  23. tbh, if I was a developer building a new house I wouldn't want a 25m high hedge next to it... Who wants to look out a window at a dark green hedge over towering your house... As others have said he can only cut the branches to his boundary (not your fence). If you wanted to play hardball you could ask him to pay for a tree surgeon to trim the hedge? I cant help thinking the trees should just be cut down. If you trim them now the job will just have to be redone every few years (at a fair cost). If they are trimmed and they fall down you could spend tens of thousands on legal fees. If it was me, I'd meet the developer and if I thought he was an OK guy I'd just cut the hedge down. If I thought he was a knob I would only send a legal letter saying "you can cut the tree down to the boundary but if it falls down we will sue".
  24. tbh, I have no trouble reading your comments but I do find it hard to understand them... I think that's more a reflection on you than me.
  25. So the guy that blew up the Manchester Arena is a "freedom fighter"?
