  1. I went to India, Cambodia and Vietnam for holidays. I've also dealt extensively with Third World labour in the Middle East. I agree that we should model our immigration system on Australia.
  2. Well how about I say that some people, on this thread, have a child like understanding of the world? They would make Forest Gump look intellectual.. Today a "far right" party has been elected to the German Parliament - the first time in 60 years.... However it was only yesterday that someone here was saying the "far right" were going nowhere in Europe....
  3. I think many of us here can see the problems Europe is going to have in the next few decades. However I don't think it's the rise of the right wing we have to worry about....
  4. So on one hand we hand we have heavy weight politicians like David Cameron saying Nigeria and Afghanistan are "fantastically corrupt". However since you had a "great time" in the Third World it means he's obviously lying. Yeah, that's an awesome argument Bill. I just hope you and Mesterh are better at cutting trees down than intellectual discussion
  5. You were saying you hadn't been to the Third World? So how do you know it's only the Governments that are corrupt? I have been to the Third World and I can vouch that corruption is widespread is all walks of life and at all levels. But thanks for sharing your uniformed opinions Honestly, for someone to start telling everyone what corruption is like in the Third World while he has never been to the Third World is strange.
  6. Well I'd say that certain countries have certain cultures.... We all know that terrorist attacks are going to continue in Europe and the authorities seem unable to name the problem never mind solve it. Like it or not Europeans are going to start voting for hard right politicians.
  7. Has anyone actually said everyone from places like Nigeria and Afghanistan is corrupt? However the fact remains that some cultures are notorious for corruption. It's tiring having a discussion with someone that keeps making things up
  8. OK, let's recap this conversation. I'm saying some cultures are more corrupt than others. I base this viewpoint on: 1. Personally seeing the amount of corruption in the third world. 2. Talking to others that have visited the third world and hearing their tales of corruption. 3. The views of Transparency International saying that some countries are more corrupt than others. 4. David Cameron saying some countries were "fantastically corrupt". You've added nothing to the debate apart from shouting "racist". There's a saying "better be quiet and thought a fool than speak and remove all doubt". Perhaps you could contemplate what it means?
  9. I'm not saying all foreigners are corrupt... However most of us know that some cultures are more corrupt than others... If you don't want to believe me why don't you see what Transparency International have to say? https://www.transparency.org/research/cpi/overview Or maybe you'd take the word of ex PM David Cameron? He famously called Nigeria and Afghanistan "fantastically corrupt". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36260193 I think sometimes in life you just have to accept that sometimes other people have a better idea of what the truth is. If you've never been to the Third World I don't think you have much to add to the debate. Anyway, you crack on with showing everyone your ignorance and lack of understanding.
  10. Serious question. Have you ever been to the Third World? I have and it's noticeable how more corrupt it is. My mate's brother was in the Merchant Navy. He was joining his ship in India. He was at immigration control where an official told him "I'm going to plant some cannabis in your luggage unless you give me $100". Do you think that would happen in the UK? If you don't believe me why don't you go there yourself to find out? Or at the very least discuss the issue with someone that's been? Or if all these things are too much for you just watch crimewatch on the telly and some of those "the sheriff officers are coming" programmes? PS I love arguing with someone that shows himself out of touch with reality.
  11. The thing is some cultures are just more dishonest than others.... You might consider that "racist", however we all know it's true.....
  12. We best get down the shops and tool up for the post nuclear wasteland world.
  13. On construction site we sometimes use a scaffold tube to vent exhausts away from a work area.
  14. Yeah, quite right. That Adolf Hitler chap was only doing what he thought best by setting up all those death camps. From his "perspective" he was doing the right thing. With the greatest respect. We do need some hard and fast moral rules for society to function. Without these rules we might as well go back to living in caves and fighting each other with big clubs.
  15. It looks like Brexit is the gift that just keeps giving!
  16. The charcoal bags have "ecological" on them. How can it be "ecological" to ship/ truck charcoal over 1000 miles?
  17. It's Thursday and there are have been three posts this week... So it looks like the perpetrators behind the Parsons Green tube terrorist attack are refugee children? The same ones that Lord Dubs and assorted celebrities were campaigning to bring into the UK. Honestly, we bend over backwards to help people and then they try to turn the UK into the same "sugar" hole that they came from.
  18. I work in construction and spend a lot of time watching excavators dig deep holes. I've seen ground beneath a leaking drain so soft that you can poke a stick into it. I've seen ground so hard you need explosives to remove it. The variation in ground conditions, in a small area, can be large. Any report on likely heave is likely to be a "best guess" only.
  19. If it was my lake I'd probably be getting an excavator in to de silt the entire lake. If you just want the vegetation removed why not fence it and put goats in? I'd also be building a new outlet. Having a diver clear a sluice gate of vegetation has "corporate homicide" written all over it.
  20. Ryanair have cancelled circa 2000 flights over the next 6 weeks due to staff wanting to take holidays... You really think an airline manages itself so badly that it can't fly planes because the pilots are on holiday? British Airways had to stop all flights a couple of months back because of "IT issues". If I was a conspiracy theorist I'd be saying there is a terrorist threat.
  21. Sorry Mark. I'd truly love to discuss this with you. Unfortunately the Internet police have been warning me not to discuss racism/ immigration. I don't want the guy below turning up at my front door....
  22. Sorry, I don't want to come across as "intimidating". However I very much doubt the findings of this inquiry will be "kingspan has air bubbles in it"... I'd imagine the inquiry will say something like "chimney effect" and "fire shielded by metal panels" and "mighty stupid to have flammable material bolted to buildings".
  23. I think the problem is that when an insulated panel is ignited you can not get water on the fire due to the metal covering. A lump of coal doesn't have many air bubbles... According to your theory that means coal shouldn't burn....
  24. I think the Grenfell tower residents do come across as being very entitled... As for them being involved in the inquiry... Well, let's be honest, what do they have to add?
