Well which news items do you think are interesting to the average Arbtalk user? The items of news that people discussed on my worksite have been the assorted terrorist attacks and the Grenfell fire. All stories with an obvious immigration angle.... There's obviously other news, however it's mostly a bit boring... Anyway, I see in the Guardian that John Lewis' profits have dropped 53%! That should be good for a couple of pages of debate

I got my phone over 5 years ago and it cost me a tenner. It's definitely a dumb phone but the battery lasts a week easily.

At least the tories haven't sold out their core electorate I remember back in the day Labour were all about looking after the white working class. Nowadays unless you're unemployable or an asylum seeker Labour just don't want to know you.

I can guarantee the driving in the Middle East would shock most of you... The attitude towards safety is different... Out there everything is in Allah's hands. If you get drunk and drive your Ferrari at 120mph and crash it's not your fault. It's Allah's will. I knew of someone that lived in a block of flats. He smelt gas, so he phoned up the gas company to tell them, nothing was done about the smell of gas. He phoned up three times to report a smell of gas and nothing was done. He eventually moved out the flat. A week later a gas explosion killed three people.... Again, it wasn't anyone's fault, it was Allah's will that three people died.

In the Middle East you don't have politicians constantly telling Arabs how good immigration is. It's made fairly clear you're there to do a job then you're to leave... Nothing wrong with that either. In the Middle East it's quite racist. At the top of the tree you have the local Arabs, then you have the Americans and British, then you have the white Europeans, then you have the Indians/ Filipinos then the Africans. To show you how racist it is the Arabic word for "slave" is the same for "African"... Out there you can get deported if you make a rude gesture to the wrong person when driving. It's something that us Westerners should consider...

You were making the argument that Muslims attack us because we attacked them first... When the USA became independent from Britain the North African States immediately started attacking American shipping and selling American crews as slaves. The US marine corps song refers to the period when they refer to the "shores of Tripoli". So this idea that muslims attack us because we attacked them first is ludicrous... Your signature refers to "speaking from personal experience". What experience do you have of living in the Middle East? I spent 6 months in a boat in Iraqi waters. I worked two years in the Middle East as an engineer. I'd hate to think you were commenting on subjects you had little knowledge of.

So it's really our own fault that Muslims commit terrorist attacks against us? Really? What did the Yazidis do to get persecuted in Syria and Iraq? The Manchester bomber's parents were asylum seekers from Libya that got asylum in Britain. The British provided military support to the Islamists (the bomber's father was a hardcore Islamist) to get rid of Gadaffi in Libya. Why did the Manchester bomber attack a music concert when we had done so much to help his family? You really need to wake up and smell the coffee.

Maybe we should just accept that Islam is a culture that will continually pick fights with others... Islam can't live in peace with jews in Israel. Islam can't live in peace with Hindus in India. Islam can't live in peace with Buddhists in Burma. Islam can't live in peace with Christians/atheists in the West... Islam can't even live in peace by itself. No matter what we do many Muslims will hate us.

Until you've spent time in the Middle East you don't realise what a tinderbox it is. Places like Saudi keep tensions in check by providing well paid jobs to locals. However if/ when the world stops using oil the Saudis won't be able to afford to give Saudis well paid jobs, when that happens you'll find the Middle East has millions of bored very angry young men that have a belief system that should terrify you. Israel is the front line that defends the West...

Sunni and Shia Muslims have been fighting for the last 1400 years, they are fighting as they disagree with the succession of Muhammed. If they can't live in peace amongst themselves do you think they can live in peace with Israel?

There is a fair amount of drinking in the Middle East amongst expatriates and Arabs. You just have to be discrete... One thing that surprised me about the Middle East is the amount of prostitution... It's one of the mainstays of the economy in places like Dubai.

The entire Middle East used to have a large Jewish population. Over time they were pushed out (ie persecuted) by muslims. There is something poetic about a muslim community complaining about being persecuted. It's like seeing a bully getting a kicking....

Maybe it's because the Palestinians constantly attack the Israelis? Anyway, is Israel not a shining light of multiculturalism in the Middle East? It seems the best run country there and has the best economy.... I wonder what happened to the Jews in the neighbouring countries? Ohhh, I just remembered, they were all killed or left.

What we really need to do is stop benefits for migrants. You look at the migrants coming to the UK via the Mediterranean. They go from Turkey to Greece to Bulgaria to Serbia to Croatia to Italy to France then onto the UK. The migrants go to the countries with the most generous benefit system. We stop benefits and they stop coming... We also need to start being honest with ourselves. Migration from some cultures has not been successful. Mainstream politicians either have to accept that or watch as extremist parties get into power. Last year Hungary had a referendum to decide if they should accept Merkel's migrants. 98% voted against accepting them... It's the people that want to accept asylum seekers etc that are the extremists....the average man on the street just doesn't want them....

Cars are useful things.. We use them every day and the few thousand deaths is a price worth paying for mass personal transportation... Third world migration is less useful... It's good to know that you're happy to live with our "current problems". I'd imagine most people here aren't so happy to live with suicide bombers at concerts attended by children. As I said before, you're the extremist here.

Every couple of months we switch on the telly and see another terrorist atrocity. We can all tell that the terrorist attacks are getting more frequent and more violent. Most people here know it's the "liberal lefty PC brigade" that got us into this mess. It's your lot that invited people that hate us into Europe. Why should people listen to your side of the argument when it's quite frankly your side with blood on their hands? I struggle to articulate how deluded I think you are. However perhaps a photo of PM Chamberlain might show what I think of you? Here he is after coming back from Germany with a peace treaty signed by Hitler.

Over the last few decades we've been constantly told that immigration is good for us due to "cultural enrichment". Anyone against migration was a "dirty racist" that risked losing their job or getting a kicking. After the likes of Manchester and Newcastle people are seeing that we've been lied to. I'd imagine many people here had very politically incorrect conversations with family and friends after the Manchester attack. If you think "my sort" are a dying breed you're clearly delusional.....
