  1. Thatcher starved the Miners, Boris starved the Minors.
  2. You definitely need to try on trousers from several manufacturers and decide by fit, not brand. Arbortec do women’s fit chainsaw trousers. The Husqvarna Technical Robust are certainly the most hard wearing trousers that I have had, I have found them virtually indestructible. They do a Technical Arb version in type ‘C’, and you will need type ’C’ on any LANTRA climbing course/NPTC assessment.
  3. If they are Maiden trees, ground level, if coppice, back to the stool height, slight sloping cut to finish to allow the rain to run off.
  4. 5 year warranty in professional use? That can’t be right can it?
  5. Wellies, hot in the Summer, Cold in the Winter, uncomfortable all year round, get some boots. There are some cheap budget boots already mentioned, Lavaro do some cheaper options too. eBay can have some pretty good deals occasionally.
  6. My mate had to have test before he could fly out to Qatar this week on business. He was told that the test results would take a couple of days due to staff shortages and backlog, he was then given the okay to fly out and will know the results when he returns in a couple of weeks.
  7. They are both good saws. I think the 572 cuts better in hardwoods than the 462, especially with longer bars. The 572 is a bit heavier but has a solid feel to it, the build quality is great, mine has never dropped a beat.
  8. It looks like Cypress aphid (Cinara cuppressi) damage. If so, they will overwinter as eggs and cause damage next year. Inspect the trees next year in May/June and see if you can spot them, quite large aphids with two dark stripes. If found, treat with an appropriate insecticide.
  9. I worked on a private estate North of Portsmouth a few years back. It has the best managed softwood stands that I have seen in the UK in 26 years. The forest manager was taught by his dad, his dad by his grandad, who planted the Douglas Fir stands, that are remarkable. I was asked to do three weeks cutting for them in October, unfortunately I have too much on, I’m rather disappointed as I don’t think I will have the chance to fell anything this magnificent again.
  10. But he is immune ‘J’, not even Kryptonite can weaken him.
  11. I’ve seen the video, I can’t see anything that you describe apart from a man standing on a balcony with a helicopter taking off in front of him. The recorded message made later clearly show a fast talking President with no shortage of breath or any ill effects, or have you seen something hiding in that too?
  12. If it was me I would have put him on his ass, then picked him up to do it again, what a knob.
  13. So the Covid 19 suffering Donald Trump has just returned to the Whitehouse after three days, not out of breath and not a hair out of place, he has stated “Who knows, I may be immune”. Takes his mask off and walks into the Whitehouse where there are 30 staff, he has told them that he doesn’t want anyone to wear a mask in his presence, no quarantine necessary. So, the question is, 1)Has he actually had Covid 19?or 2)Is Covid 19 not a serious virus for the majority of the population to even worry about?
  14. Coppiced some monsters over the years in East Sussex, wet ground conditions, all responded well.
  15. The MS400 is a straight replacement for the MS362 but apparently is massively improved. The MS462 is a very good saw, light and very quick pick up.
  16. I was working with a guy this week who has the same issue, back on his 362, reckons it’s a cracking saw when it’s running, bastard to start though, back with the dealer.
  17. And they aren’t from a 550mk2.
  18. No trainer, college or otherwise that have ever encountered has demonstrated using the chain brake constantly at full or half revs, this is simply bad practice and isn’t taught. The candidates just don’t understand how things work, your lucky if you can get them to put the fuel and oil in the correct parts of the saw.
  19. Someone showed me a clip off Instagram yesterday. Old bloke shuffled into the shop with his mask on, straight over to the ‘Slush Puppy’ machine, hands full of ice and syrup, starts rubbing it all in. Made me chuckle.
  20. You will never colour match the mortar exactly if you replace them, and this guy seems a royal pita and wouldn’t be happy with it anyway. I would first ask what patio cleaner he has used and see if the blame can be put back on him. The staining looks more like bird shit than conifer cuttings.
  21. I have a decent grasp of Spanish, I didn’t study any languages at school, learned Spanish whilst living in Mexico City, currently learning French just for travel/holidays etc.
  22. I buy Aspen in a pallet, I split it with a milling friend. Works out about a tenner a day more if I use the full 5litre. I add a tenner on the job or put another tonne on the floor. No queuing behind dumb fat builders buying Costa in the petrol station every morning and I get 2 years warranty instead of one as a professional user with my local Husqvarna dealer.
  23. It’s the number on the drive link that will confirm the gauge. The 3/8 on the depth gauge confirms the pitch, C stands for comfort.
  24. To add insult to injury, this cluster**************** is being handled by the same people responsible for the other cluster**************** which is the oven ready Brexit exit agreement. At least if they **************** that up people ‘might’ kick up a fuss?
  25. Reading the headlines on several of the mainstream rags this morning. It would appear that if we don’t tow the line regarding these recent Covid 19 nonsense, Boris is going to cancel Christmas. Yeah, right, who does he think he is, The Grinch?
