  2. Hi does anyone know a company that sells railway sleepers cut to measure. Preferably near Hastings so I can collect or if they deliver to my area. I can buy 100 x 240 x 2.4m ones for £16 or so but they wont cut them for me. Cheers in advance Jon
  3. Cheers for all the great replies. I think it's more than likely that we will stock it again. I will make sure it's the pucker stuff, thanks for the advice.
  4. Just a quick question to the Arbtalk community. We used to sell the old style creosote in quite large quantities before they made it illegal for members of the public to use it. I am thinking about restocking it. Is there much call for it these days? Has anyone used the alternative creocote that we can sell to the public, and is it any good? Obviously we deal with a lot of agricultural and fencing contactors, but not sure what people use these days. Thanks in advance Jon
  5. That was my first thought when I saw the thread heading
  6. Thats the Rye Oil special door to door service for you.
  7. Our little single pot 7.5 tonne tanker had done 700,000 + before it ended upside down in someones front garden.
  8. We are in the process of getting the cedar treatment oil we sell tested on things like fencing and outside furniture. Its a Napthenic oil with a UV protection index. It is traditionally used on cedar cladding where the customer wants to keep the natural colour of the wood. I will keep you posted on how it performs.
  9. Might be worth giving Bob at Aspen Arb a shout. He is a member on here. He may also have advice on where to live. They are located near Guildford. Good luck with the move
  10. Hi anyone going to the Heathfield Agriculture show this Saturday? If so, we have a stand, so pop along and say Hi. We may even have biscuits Thanks Jon
  11. Not at all mate , your posts are a ray of sunshine.
  12. I think we should get Steve to change the name of the Lounge to Jon's (Mendiplogs) Lounge. What do you think?
  13. Was really hoping to go again this year but something has come up which means I have to work on that weekend. Have fun and many ciders all. Jon.
  14. Hi thanks for the feedback, made very interesting reading. We sent the yellow pages guy an email yesterday saying we are jacking it in. We are going to use the money to boost our online presence and I am also going to have a work with Steve about advertising on Arbtalk. Just got a couple of thing to iron out first.
  15. Spot on advice. It doesn't have to be semi or fully synthetic. Just a good oil.
  16. We have taken on a polish driver. lovely bloke, will do anything you ask of him. He is always happy and has already had several customers ringing up to praise him.
  17. Cheers guys, your answers pretty much sum up what I was feeling. It seems a ridiculous amount of cash to fork out, and there is no way we get that back in new customers. There may be a few old folk that still use yellow pages, so we may get a bit of business for the fuel deliveries that way, but no where near enough to justify the cost. The bloke is coming round next week, so I think he is going to be sent packing
  18. We are spending close to £900 a month with this lot and I just don't see the benefIt. Does anyone use them and get good results. Thanks jon.
  19. Hi Jon, got friends down from London, so going to eat drink and be merry:biggrin:. At least on Sat and Sun. Monday I may have to crack on with my next Open University assignment
  20. I am working on the packaging, thanks for the input.

  22. Cheers guys I appreciate the feedback. I will have a chat with him tomorrow to see what he wants to try. Its a southern power networks truck so is pretty busy , as you can imagine he is keen to get it back on the road.
  23. Sorry to hear that Tom, will get our drivers to keep their eyes peeled but with it being sign written they are going to change it quickly.
