  1. How can you get housing and child benefit when you own a company? Are you saying the government pays your benefits?
  2. There are 2 stump only company's in my area, I can't charge as little as them and won't. I aim for my grinder to pay its finance payment each month minimum, anything on top is a bonus. I have won a number of jobs because I can offer a full service, come in take the tree out, grind the stump out and leave at the end of the day with the job done. I am not relying on others to fit it in or possibly to be let down. Most customers like to pay 1 invoice for the lot and forget about it. If I go in to cut the tree and then have to arrange the other guy to come in its all hassle and if I only make a little bit on top it's not worth it. With the HB 20 it will fit most places and grind most stumps no matter how big. I put a price in then they can take it or leave it.
  3. Just ordered some. Cheers Joe.
  4. Visors on helmets are crap, the wind blows sawdust up behind it. I can't can't stand glasses as they steam up. So sorry I can't help mate.
  5. At least your honest Stefan!
  6. What a great outfit to work for Paul, lots of big toys!! That is a hell of an operation. Glad your enjoying it.
  7. The thread is 5 years old, I'm not trying to put the guy down but he's on about doing the job for as little as possible and making money from the wood a year down the line, we all know how that story ends don't we. I'd like to know where he "borrowed signs from while stump grinding next to a school?? Taking big trees down over a house with an old guy helping you?? ( rescue ticket, insurance, Risk assessment, climbing ticket etc????) the post reeks of everything we have been trying to get away from in this industry!
  8. He ain't got a clue
  9. Or FT
  10. Me too. I love the stuff!
  11. That's all well and good but we're in England not the US, if I go to a customers house to look at a tree then there is a reason they have called me, some ask what would you advise and some ask how much to remove this. If I can offer advice on the 120 year old oak that they want a Heavy reduction in then I can only advise against it and offer other solutions but at the end of the day I will carry out what they want as I have a living to earn, if I baffle them with technical jargon etc they will just get someone else in as they didn't have a clue what I was on about. Depending on the attitude and personality of the customer determines how I play the situation. I would never take advantage of vulnerable people with trees but if they want it out I will oblige.
  12. If you didn't do it someone else would, money is best in your pocket.
  13. Phew, that will be a better job then
  14. Out through the house will be fun won't it, is the brash coming out through the house too? Nasty;)

    Field tree

Yes if what I am led to believe is correct. All the farmers round me look after the verge trees bordering their land. That's where they get their firewood from!!
  17. Is that plus VAT? Last load of Oak,Ash,Birch I got was £45 plus Haulage. I wouldn't buy oak as it taks to long to season.

I spoke to Mark last week about something and he was very helpful and when it's time to buy what I was enquiring about I will be giving him the sale!

    Field tree

Usually the field boundary covers the verge too, this was brought into play to my knowledge by the land registry when I took ownership of my field.
  20. It doesn't matter how good a chipper is if the dealer back up if poor. This is something I will be checking with the new dealer before I buy my new chipper. I have never had any problems with Orange plant in the 10 years I have dealt with the Newcastle depot, Graham and Paul have always been there when I needed advice and help, now they don't sell Timberwolf anymore I will be finding a new dealer so I'm hoping they will offer the complete customer care package.
  21. We have one to make our bread as our son can't eat bread with milk in, as most shop bought has milk in we bought a Panasonic bread maker and it is really good.
  22. He's on about the infeed rollers not the flywheel bearings I think mate
  23. It used to be called character building. The last trainee was a reet mummy's boy.
  24. Why would you bother?
  25. Wait for the new Timberwolf 230 vari tracks, should be around may. Awesome machine.
