When I'm fencing I just charge my normal day rate, even though the work is different the overheads don't:)

What ever you pay him just make sure you charge him out at double, this then covers holiday pay, ppe, tax etc, it's a while since I employed as I got rid of mine when it made me hit the VAT limit.

Without pics it's hard to say but from what you have said suppose it was a day then 650 quid ish. As well as the things that have been mentioned there is the skill we have to do this work, it ain't cheap to train you see.

I have a 130 defender with chip body and tow a tracked Timberwolf 150 on an ifor plant trailer, I remove chip and logs so should I be using a tacho?

I bought the Hairy Dieters cook book yesterday and it is full of great ideas. For lunch today I made there veg soup and it's delicious and only 102 cal Per serving. I have also started using a calorie count app, a guy I know lost 3 stone by using calorie count and exercise. I'm gonna give it a go. This morning I weighed in at 17 stone 13 pounds. I want to get down to 16 stone if possible.

I have altered the pressure relief valve and it now returns and does not stall the engine. I have put some wood through and it works fine but I will adjust it if needed and see how it goes. Thanks for the replies everyone.

I agree, I now charge for the form filling on CA or TPO and I state that if I carry out the work it will be knocked off and if I don't do the work I have not wasted my time. This is because I once looked at a job, gave a quote, which they accepted then met tree officer, filled out the forms then got permission. The customer then cancelled me saying the car had broken and they needed the money to fix it, a few weeks later I went past and saw the work had been done.

I price a job based on what I want to do the job. I don't get every job but I do ok. Maybe the customer thinks you are to cheap? And gets someone else, I have had this before. Where in Cumbria may have some bearing on the price issue also.
