  1. Suffin or nothing! They do the job of both long and short badly IMO
  2. They could be to sharp, knock the points back a touch with a file and you won’t gaff out as much, I find if there to sharp they peel the bark causing the gaff out. Other thought is have you got the height set right? I find 2-3 fingers below the knee works for me, try adjusting it a hole if you can, it can change the angle of the spike enough to make it bite (or not)
  3. Is that the water bridge that waiting for the new cut to arrive?
  4. But if the planning breach was said to have caused a claim against the ops home insurance the insurance company could use that to get out of paying a claim passing the cost back to the home owner, that could be a very expensive change of tree! Unlikely maybe but not impossible.
  5. It’s possible to bugger any machine with a lack of mechanical sympathy, I don’t think blocking a chipper can be a mark against the machine or make. It’s more the operator and the maintenance (yes I’ve blocked a few of different colours in my time and admit that almost every time it was caused by being greedy apart from once when it was caused by bad belts - lack of maintenance and therefore self inflicted)
  6. Are they rain water harvesting tanks? Something we are looking into at the moment.
  7. Glad you got through, did the cyder get through it ok? Aspal is the taste of home!
  8. I’ve only got 3G at the moment, one of the local masts is down.
  9. While your on with spuds checks also check the plastic cage bearing in the centre of the clutch drum
  10. I can’t load the video but some people search for years to find a hitch knot that self tends, give up and buy a zig zag or similar Congratulations you have managed it on your first attempt 🥳
  11. I’ve run both mick. Most of the single wheels tend to be wider tyres than the twin so foot print Isnt half more like 75% and I didn’t get stuck on wet ground any more or less. However the twin wheels do feel more stable when there a little fat - I found the 2 wheel axle wallowed like a hippo on roller skates when well loaded
  12. Pah have they not seen the overloaded thread? most of us would of chucked that on a 14ft ifor and got on with the job 🤪
  13. Far from it. That approach is what is ruining our woodlands! To many people are “leaving it for the wild life” with out realising they are killing the wildlife! If the hazel isn’t coppice regularly it stops producing nuts and we lose the dormice. If the thinning works stop we get a closed canopy that kills the good understory which in turn is replaced with blackthorn scrub which in all honesty is about a bleak as it gets from a ecological perspective, sure a few rodents etc will live in it but the wood will lose all the song birds, dormice adders etc. this is before we start on the botanical gems you find in a healthy managed woodland. Before man had tools the Woolley mammoth and bision would have flattened a few trees and made glades but now the whole eco system has evolved around man made management, the best thing we can do is continue this and at the same time produce our own wooden products in turn saving thousands of tons of fuel being burnt to import what we can grow! sorry for the rant!
  14. I think remet are Eastern European, Poland rings a bell. They also make branch loggers that have a good reputation but not used one.
  15. Many don’t get it eggs because they like a pile of bricks and are quite happy to keep peddling to turn the hamster wheel to “achieve” an ever bigger pile of bricks containing even more tat they don’t need or want! I’ve been there done that then worked out the “hippies/ new age travelers/ van lifers/ hedge monkeys/ the great unwashed communities” as there dubbed by the same people that don’t get it are completely right about Down Shifting.
  16. In my mind (as a loler tester) by testing the winch I would then expect/hope to see slings etc to go with it rated to a similar swl, but as just a winch you can use any pill line you see fit as long as it is fit for purpose!
  17. @Rob D would probably be he man with the answer for you.
