  4. i dont think anyone not even vosa could give a straight answer but as long as you are sensible and and have extra lighting and dont push your luck with size and weight and use common sense theres not much else you can do but carry on carefully
  5. push-pull ploughs were popular at one time, some setups had 4-5 furrows sticking out the front but they are not seen these days im not sure if thats due to changing regulations

  9. if its advertising firewood then there are groups on facebook which are buy, sell and swaps there are ones for most towns so if you join the group then you can post in it but as said before dont do it too often otherwise you could be kicked off the group
  10. if something solid e.g land rover, forklift, lorry hits the door and bends it inwards it will push it off the runners and once its off the runners then there just a floppy bit of steel
  11. yes at the moment i am a self employed farm worker but im interested in woodland and trees, unfortunately there's not much forestry in this area and i haven't got a good head for heights so climbing's out of the question

  14. i much prefer the idea of a strong chain attached to a strong fixing point on the truck so if the trailer comes unhitched it will still follow the vehicle and then only thing it should hit is the back of your own vehicle because i always think if the breakaway cable is gonig to snap and if the breaks dont come on evenly then it could swing out into the road especially if it is long trailer, i think its the law in the US to have it chained the the back

  17. hello everyone, i used to just stick tractor universal oil in my series 3 2.25 diesel but now i have bought a 300 tdi hicap, will tractor universal be ok in it (as it is fairly cheap and i already have lots:thumbup1:) if not could you please recommend the oil i should be putting in it thanks, jim
  18. thank you for replies, if it was me I would just carry on but one farm I work on has large plantations and the farmer wants some sort of certificate just so he's covered
  19. hello everyone im self employed and currently involved in mainly farm work, I do not have the funds for cs30 and 31 but I have heard about a certificate of competency when they come out to the farm/woods and assess you, does this sort of thing exist. when ive saved a bit more I will get the proper cs tickets but it would be nice to be able to use a chinsaw on the farms and hopefully much cheaper than the full tickets
  20. all of you having a go at farmers, I guess you never put more than 500kg of chip in your double cab transits etc
  21. yes as everyone else has said, it needs to be dry and seasoned but it has a bad reputation among many people but I always think any wood is better than sitting cold
  22. is it a hydrashift model and I see its on oversize tyres which will give it longer legs on the road
