  1. I think I should have put this on here http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/95889-new-super-fast-log-splitter-must-watch-4.html Interesting Shavey are you up for buying one of the bigger ones? I do like the look of the Split Second machine [ame] [/ame] The Super Split looks dangerous with one handed engagement. [ame] [/ame]
  2. I like the two handled operation as these machines are so quick that you need both hands out of the way in case of distraction. The other bonus as far as my wife is concerned is that the electric operation is so quiet and easy to use compared with an engine or tractor driven machine. There is quite a lot on the web about these kinetic machines when you start looking. The Rock machinery claims 30 ton splitting force and many are in the 20 tons plus category. The Rock one was about £1600 but out of stock. 6 Incredible Facts About Kinetic Log Splitters - Homesteading and Livestock - MOTHER EARTH NEWS RapidFire Electric Flywheel Log Splitter | DR Power Equipment [ame] [/ame] [ame] [/ame] RapidFire Log Splitter (Outsplits 34 Ton Wood Splitter) | DR Power Equipment Welcome to SuperSplitter [ame] [/ame] Split Second Log Splitter | Kinetic Log Splitting > Product Tour [ame] [/ame] Rock Rapide M2 [ame] [/ame]
  3. Cannot seem to upload more than one photo at a time with the iPhone
  4. just taken delivery of the 5 ton capacity Portek really for my wife to use as she never seems to have the right size for the wood stove and she is a liability with any axe. Thought I would test it out first and selected a horrible knotty piece of ash followed by an equally horrible bit of dead elm which I tried to split with the trusty Fiskars X27 to no avail even with my fifteen stone behind it. It cracked the ash first go but needed three thumps to break the elm. Very impressive though for a relatively small machine. It was really impressive on the ordinary straight ash logs where the output nearly matched the Palax Combi. My wife likes it and I shall build a table for her at the right height for the logs to drop into the one ton potato box
  5. Ever since I posted this link of Alex Harvey on "Show us yer Guitars" the Boston Tea Party has been a mega ear worm !
  6. Jimi Hendrix was my main influence. I was converted when I heard Purple haze in 1967. Shows how old I am Back in the mid nineties it was as though I had manifested Jimi to appear as Gregg Wright came over from LA to try and start a band up with some local musicians. He and the bass guitarist were left handed like me but both played with the strings set for a right hander, upside down. They called themselves "Gregg Wright's Left Hook" and were popular both in England and on the continent. He stayed with me for several months and I was hoping that some of his magic would rub off on me but alas he is in another class. Here he is with his new guitar made for him the "GWR" Fretking Corona Black Label [ame] [/ame] and here is is with Michael Jackson on the Victory tour. [ame] [/ame] Gregg is about six foot three and it is very apparent next to Jackson!
  7. Can't find a live video only the soundtrack
  8. Just had another look through this thread and had to remind myself how good they were. Warning! If you listen to these two tracks, it is an instant ear worm and will be with you for some time while you are working! [ame] [/ame]

    Trailers

Why not forget the trailer and load and unload the logs in big bags and mower into the back of the Toyota with something like this [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hydraulic-Pickup-Hitch-Mount-Swivel/dp/B010MVF9J8]1,000 LB Tow Hydraulic Pickup 2'' Hitch Mount Truck Crane Swivel Hoist Lift: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31dl8vaYgSL.@@AMEPARAM@@31dl8vaYgSL[/ame]
  10. I have not tried one, but I like the look of these kinetic splitters, they seem so much faster and these American versions are more powerful at over 20 tons equivalent than the Portec 5 ton ones sold here. however these seem good value at around £400 from Jones These are the US bigger ones at over £1500
  11. It would be great James if you could have a friend video you setting it up and replacing the tips. Then putting it on youtube
  12. Это , вероятно, из тополя не ольха
  13. Is this the machine? [ame] [/ame]
  14. Thanks for that everyone. It is coming on March 8th, a SM 70 with electric start.(for my wife hopefully!) We have some big piles of brash which are still green (bit like me with branch logging)
  15. Woodworks and other users, do the blades on the 70 take much maintenance with sharpening, adjusting etc and would you advise buying a spare set with the machine or not necessary?
  16. £400 but it is what I would buy when I am too old for the Fiskars X27 The other hydraulic or screw type splitters look so slow. [ame] [/ame]
  17. And the final result is a box of 18 inch 8x8 which fit exactly into the 650 Cleaview
  18. Winch for lifting the elevator
  19. I found knotty and bent branches might fall sideways into the hopper and would jam on the knife after the auto trip triggered the ram so I made a foot pedal (galvanised tube) override. Also I made a T handle to make the removal of the knife easier Here also is one of the road wheels removed
  20. I fitted a three phase motor and mounted a switch within easy reach for work in the yard. The three point linkage and pro are unaffected and are interchangeable without dismantling for work outside. I also fitted a drawbar and wheels for towing behind a car
  21. Once on the Palax they are too long so I cut them in half with the chainsaw, leaving one half on the rollers
  22. The logs are picked up with the teleporter and tilted so it is easy to slip them one at a time onto the roller frame
  23. I am sorry that I do not seem to be able to load more than one photo at a time from the iphone This is a frame I welded together with rollers from a boat trailer to take the logs and it makes it easy to slide them sideways to the rollers on the Palax Combi
  24. Ok you asked for it! Guarantee cure for insomnia looking at these pictures, but the mods make a great difference for me as I age. The first is a load of 8x8 about 15 feet long cut from a massive Ash with the Lucas Mill. It was knotty and verging on rotten in places but the main thing was that I did all the lifting with the teleporter, no splitting or carrying.
  25. Welmec import them and this is their video [ame] [/ame] Welmac UK Ltd: Urban SM70 Branch Logger
