  1. I've got 660 ,880,084 we do hard wood thinning on several local estates to be honest the 660 gets all the work, the bigger saws are good for occasional massive beech trees in the manor gardens but to top out or limb off a tree they are too heavy in a harness. The 660 is capable of Ariel work and large felling, also good for trimming out big crowns,I mainly use it with a 25 inch bar. The 88 stays in the shed most of the time, its good on the alaskan mill though because it has plenty of power, but it is a heavy clumsy lump !
  2. How has my technique changed ?? I fell it at the bottom !!!! Then trim it out with both feet on the floor. Much easier!!!!
  3. get your groundie to pull the loose tail of your rope makes a 50ft ascent easy Ive got to stick up for the old fashioned climbers, and as for better and faster that comes with experience. i work with good young climbers with fancy kit ,my trees are always on the deck before theirs.the thing they need more focus on at colledge is how to fell accurately, which in turn gives them more confidence to let off larger lumps.I was lucky to work with some older tree fellers who taught me things that i was never shown at colledge 25 yrs ago
  4. looking for a self employed hand cutter to help on hardwood thinnings in the cranborne chase area. Must have n p t c tickets contact nick on 07867 971 473 thanks.
  5. got a farma trailer crane for sale 7 tonner 5m crane steering drawbar good condition I was looking for 5k for it if your interested .cheers nick
  6. open root fire (bonfire ) is even cheaper .
  7. get an experienced slew operator with 13 or 20 tonner with a root fork (not a root rake) de stump and shake out the roots, build a root fire and burn them up,an experienced treework/slew operator will be able to do this. We had various tub grinders, mulchers etc on demo up newbury bypass in 1996 and compared to burning they were cost prohibitive or just useless and jammed up all the time.
  8. guess nobody has fitted one then.?
  9. has anyone fitted a tree shear or grapple saw with a 90 degree tilt lock to a botex 560 roof mount and if so what make was it thanks nick.
  10. "Digbits" for a grab and an auger delivered on a pallet.
  11. they seem to be nesting in the windblow rootplates ,when we butt them off and the root drops back they go mad,the problem is you cant make a quick get away on a windblown site covered in brambles .In answer to the question yes there do seem to be more than in previous years.
  12. sounds a great idea to plant trees over bodys ,but if the cemetery suffered windblow in years to come the clear up would be a bit grim !!
  13. it will be worth it when she is back together they are solid little tractors.
  14. hello looking for a timber trailer to go behind a roof mount tractor anyone got one for sale ??? thanks nick 07867 971 473
  15. got a fiat 45 /66 starts runs drives tin work is rusty (typical fiat) tyres are 70% ,pick up hitch we used it on a hay bob rowing up,oh power steering too. haven't really thought about what we want for it but it wont be expensive because of the tin work,it would make a good yard tractor thanks nick. 07867 971 473
  16. hmm timber extraction with a guinea pig !!!
  17. hello seen your trailer pictures interested to know if they have a steering drawbar and are they manufactured in Europe??....
  18. just looked at parts diagram (560 tl) cant see any wear pads and not mentioned in parts list. I would go with replacing the roller pin as mentioned by logan.
  19. yes went for a 6400 with a 560tl working out well dealing with small jobs unsuitable for les`s big machines still looking for a 10t (approx.) trailer though
  20. be nice if more people thought like you,(rather than continuing to shoot themselves in the foot) it would slowly improve things for everyone
  21. would you put chain oil in your truck????...no only an idiot would do that,so why put engine oil in a £500 to £1000 pound saw. 20 years ago people did it because supply availability was limited and there were less environmental restrictions, obviously some people haven't moved on!!
  22. thanks for the support!! missed one recently for a similar reason "pm" is much better, and then if the person wont pay a reasonable price stick it on arb trader first come first served basis
  23. very true and look how many hits this post has had,its obviously something we are all interested in....why?....because to my mind for the physical effort and risk ,we are all under paid, the sad thing is whilst idiots are hell bent on undercutting each other, in desperation of securing work to pay the finance,on their machinery nothing will change . try to reduce your outgoings( consider quality used machinery) and you can up your day rate a bit without the pressure of repayments, you wont lose as much work as you think you will and you will be a lot less stressed.
  24. evans transport ???? if they cant help they may put you on to someone who can
  25. an old county ??? that's a step down from the valtra!!! cant you get the crane reconditioned ? might be worth contacting mark at osbournes ower near romsey.
